After heavy rains and seismic works on Monday, March 19, a huge rift formed in the East African Rift Valley, which indicates the coming continental transformations. The rift stretches for 3,000 kilometers in Kenya's Narok district. Its depth and width are over 15 meters.
Geologists say that after a few million years, the African continent will split into two parts, along with the Somali tectonic plate, which moves away from the Nubian by 6-7 millimeters per year, and in the south - at a rate of 2.5 centimeters per year. The first includes the Great Rift Valley, which stretches from the Horn of Africa to Mozambique.
Observing the African Rift Valley, scientists mark the stages of the continental rift. According to Kenyan geologist David Ahed, the earth's movement has created weak spots where fault lines and fissures are formed that are usually filled with volcanic ash, presumably from the nearby Longonot volcano.
In his opinion, the source of the movements is the Susva shield volcano, which lies at the base of the Great Rift Valley with its history of tectonic and volcanic activity.
“You cannot stop the geological process because it comes from deep in the earth's crust,” he said, adding that more research is needed to understand the geology of the area and to map fault lines.
The fault formed at the beginning of last week affected the busy Mai Mahyu-Narok road. The Kenyan government has instructed the site to be filled with rocks and cement so that vehicles can continue on their way. Homes in the area were also torn in two, including the home of an elderly woman who was having dinner with her family when the ground ripped open beneath her feet.

These two tragedies are related by the "common denominator" - the extremely dismissive attitude of employers towards working people
These events are already in the past, they have already been discussed in different ways in the Russian and foreign media. However, in my opinion, there is a reason to talk about the extremely dismissive attitude of employers towards working people, whom the "new Russians" often use not as slaves, but as consumables
How did the Chinese invent gunpowder without having two of the three ingredients?
Probably every inhabitant of the Earth knows from school that gunpowder was invented by the Chinese. At least this is what children were taught in the USSR, and even now this is what they are taught in Russia. But is it really so?
Russian girl lived for two years in an old castle
During the Middle Ages, castles were usually fortified buildings designed to defend against enemy attacks. Today we are used to seeing them as museums. It is interesting to visit them, imagining how people lived in them many centuries ago, but even now there are people who own real castles and live in them or rent them out to others

For whom was the UAZ-469 with two rudders produced in the USSR?
There are many strange modifications of quite ordinary cars in the world. One of the brightest examples of such a machine can be considered the UAZ-469, which was produced in the Soviet Union, including with two rudders. The question immediately arises: why was such an unusual car needed at all?
