If you are hoping to hide from surveillance, or at least keep your feelings to yourself, you can forget about it. Today we are betrayed by everything - from breathing to the peculiarities of gait and heart rate. Big Brother can not only find us wherever we are, but even find out what emotions we are experiencing. How exactly are we calculated?

With the help of the camera - according to the peculiarities of the gait

Today you can recognize not only your "sweetheart" by the way you walk, as was sung in one famous song, but also anyone. In China, gait-based personality recognition technology is actively used by the police in Beijing and Shanghai. A special program that uses video from conventional cameras creates a virtual model of a person in motion, and then compares it with other available data. While she does not know how to do this in real time, the technology is developing rapidly.

Huang Yongzheng, CEO of Watrix, which is developing the program, says that nothing can fool her - not a special "limp" or other deliberate changes in gait. At the same time, even today she can “recognize” a person from the back, even from the side, it does not matter. Apparently, this technological solution will develop rapidly - interest in it is demonstrated not only by the state, but also by businessmen who want to know everything about their potential client.

With the help of a special laser - according to the heartbeat

Recently it became known that a new device, the Jetson, was developed for the Pentagon at the request of the American special forces. Its main task is to recognize a person by the characteristics of his heartbeat. Experts assure that the so-called signature of the heart is different for each person, like fingerprints. Jetson, just, is able to recognize this "signature" using a special technique - laser vibrometry. He does this at a distance of up to two hundred meters. So far, however, there is protection from this method of recognition - thick clothing like a winter coat. This saves, as the device recognizes the heartbeat by the surface movement of the skin it causes.

In the future, it is planned to use this technology not only for military purposes, but also for peaceful purposes - with the help of it, for example, cardiologists will be able to observe their patients right from home.

By voice

Most of the technologies for personality recognition have not yet found true popularity and are not used on a massive scale - except for voice recognition technology. Devices that have this feature, such as electronic assistants, have enjoyed immense success. Without knowing it, people actually allow to collect a lot of various data about themselves, which, as it were, are "tied" to their voice - and if necessary, it will not be so difficult to calculate a specific person from this information.

So, Google recently announced that Google Assistant will soon work on 1 billion devices. And Amazon said that their electronic assistant Alexa is already operating on 100 million gadgets today. At the same time, these products also turned out to be extremely profitable - according to experts, in 2019, the income from all kinds of "smart speakers" will amount to $ 3.2 billion, which is 7% more than last year.

With the help of radio waves - according to the breathing pattern

Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have created a device that uses radio waves to detect our true emotions - even those we would like to hide. And even if this invention has not passed all the tests and has not appeared on the market, sooner or later such technologies will become available. The device is named EQ-Radio. It allows you to understand at a distance what feelings a person is experiencing - sadness or joy, longing or pleasure. In some ways, the principle of its operation resembles a highly improved lie detector.

The developers of EQ-Radio believe that their technology will be useful in a wide variety of areas - for example, it will be needed in the entertainment industry so that the creators of a new attraction, show or film can quickly understand how the viewer is feeling.

Well, the idea itself is not bad - unless, of course, everyone gets this device, and then we cannot hide our true emotions from anyone.

Using geolocation

A group of researchers from the same Massachusetts Institute of Technology reported back in 2013 that it is possible to "identify" a person with the help of a competent analysis of anonymous data, which every smartphone user already gives to mobile companies. It is no secret that using GPS you can find out exactly where a certain conditional user is at the moment, however, researchers note that anonymity in this case can be easily overcome. The fact is that for most people life follows the same scenario every day. It repeats the same route every 24 hours. As it turned out, it is through the analysis of this route that a specific person can be identified - with a probability of 95%.
