There are many theories circulating on the Internet and in the media trying to explain the occurrence of the coronavirus. Their spectrum is wide - from natural to conspiracy theories and even aliens.

All of us are concerned not only with the consequences of the pandemic and the means of protection against infection, which has turned the world economy and the usual way of life, but also the very reason for its appearance. According to the generally accepted hypothesis, the exotic food preferences of the Chinese are to blame. The market in Wuhan sold not only seafood, but also insects, snakes, and bats, from which the inhabitants of the Celestial Empire cook soup. According to most epidemiologists, it was the bats that became the source of infection for the "zero" patient, after which the coronavirus began its deadly march around the world.

However, there are other versions of the emergence of the ill-fated infection. AiF.ru took a closer look at them.

Tool to control humanity

The scenario according to which nature will invent a way to stop the growth of the planet's population and even reduce it (and if it does not find it, then they will help her in this), has been voiced more than once by futurologists and conspiracy theorists. The outbreak of COVID-19 infection caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus fits well with it. Yes, on the one hand, the death rate from the disease is not very high, and it is unlikely that it will be able to destroy a significant part of humanity. On the other hand, let's read another piece of news from the laboratories.

Peace during the "plague". How to live in quarantine in other countries Coronavirus can lead to infertility, according to Chinese scientists. They found that male testes are a potential target for this infection. Autopsies of six deceased patients showed that COVID-19 caused orchitis, an inflammation of the testicles, in them. All victims of the coronavirus showed destruction of germ cells, a small amount (or absence) of sperm in the seminiferous tubules and other signs of the disease.

It is clear that while doctors around the world are busy fighting the pandemic and saving lives, few people think about possible complications such as infertility. Full-fledged studies on the effect of the virus on the reproductive system will probably be carried out, but this will happen later. And if it is confirmed that COVID-19 causes infertility, this will not help most of those who have recovered. Everything will come down to a statement of a sad fact: they will not be able to give offspring.

Thus, the coronavirus is really capable of acting as a regulator of the world's population without killing, thus sterilizing part of the human population. How can we not recall the warnings of conspiracy theorists? For example, video blogger Jordan Suther, who claimed that the COVID-19 outbreak is a population control tool created by the British Pirbright Institute and billionaire Bill Gates. The former head of Microsoft, through his foundation, finances this scientific center engaged in the study of viral diseases. Last October, there was even a training exercise simulating a large-scale coronavirus outbreak. It was named Event 201. In a simulated outbreak, it was reported that 65 million people "died" over 18 months.

The Big Pharma conspiracy

The term "Big Pharma" is usually used to designate about 50 global companies that determine the main parameters of the drug market. Their presence is total and ubiquitous, and their turnover is estimated at no less than $ 1 trillion.

You don't need to be seven inches in the forehead to understand: all the hype around the coronavirus is beneficial to the giants of the pharmaceutical industry. Panic is growing - sales of drugs for the prevention of infections, as well as antiviral and anti-inflammatory drugs, are growing. And when the vaccine arrives, they'll be making fantastic profits. In 2009, the world has already gone through something similar. Then there was a stir around the swine flu, and with heart-rending cries of "We are all going to die!" managed to promote an advertising campaign for an antiviral drug, which brought pharmacists about $ 1 billion.

Therefore, even now conspiracy theorists suspect "Big Pharma" both of deliberately whipping up hysteria, and, possibly, of the very creation of the coronavirus. Moreover, some experts believe that a vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 has already been developed. And the drug business tycoons are just waiting for the moment when WHO recognizes the coronavirus as the main threat of the 21st century, after which they will hit the jackpot.

China's biological weapons

It would be strange if the pandemic of a viral infection did not go without rumors of biological weapons, allegedly lost or "escaped" from a secret laboratory. There is no shortage of versions, there are disputes about whose weapon it was. Representatives of different countries compete in ingenuity, blaming each other.

The most popular hypothesis: the new coronavirus was created by order of the Chinese government as part of a state program for the development of biological weapons. There is no need to come up with anything special here: the Institute of Virology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is located in Wuhan. He was remembered after the first reports of the outbreak. On Chinese social media, attacks began on Shi Zhengli, one of the institute's researchers who studied bat viruses. But to all accusations, Shi replied: "I swear on my life that the virus has nothing to do with our laboratory."

The story was immediately replicated by the American media. Even the authoritative The Washington Times wrote about her, citing the opinion of the analyst in the field of biological weapons Danny Shoham. He assumed that the leak of the virus from the laboratory happened as a result of a mistake by scientists or a violation of the security protocol.

The version was readily picked up by some American senators and experts supporting them. One far-right conservative even claimed that COVID-19 is a joint project by the US Democratic Party and the Chinese government to topple Donald Trump. And in conclusion, he offered to lock the people responsible for the pandemic in the same room with those infected with the coronavirus.

US biological weapons

Shocking statements are also heard from other sides, including from Russia. Vladimir Zhirinovsky said in one radio interview that the emergence of the virus is the result of an experiment by the Pentagon and pharmaceutical companies. And the city of Wuhan was chosen for the attack precisely because the Institute of Virology is located there: it is easier to transfer the arrows to the Chinese authorities, accusing them of a leak.

The accusations against the United States come from Iran, which was in the list of the countries most affected by the coronavirus in terms of the number of victims. And, of course, from China itself. In the Middle Kingdom, few people doubt that SARS-CoV-2 was created by American virologists to destroy the Chinese economy. Popular Internet resources describe exactly how the attack was carried out. The World War Games were held in Wuhan in October 2019. The members of the American team showed surprisingly weak results: it seems that they were not very interested in the competition. Perhaps they arrived there for a different purpose, the authors of the conspiracy theory claim. And they emphasize that the place of residence of the US team at these games was located not far from the ill-fated seafood market.

On our own, we add that epidemiologists categorically deny the possibility of the artificial origin of the coronavirus. Chinese doctors are also talking about this. There is not a single rigorous scientific proof of this hypothesis.

Guest from space

Last fall, on the night of October 11, the sky over northeastern China lit up with a bright flash. It exploded from a celestial body that had flown in from space (according to the scientific classification - a meteoroid, since it did not reach the surface of the Earth).

Despite the fact that the explosion occurred at a height and no material traces were found, some experts suggested that the ill-fated coronavirus could have been brought to Earth by this particular object. This idea was expressed by Professor Chandra Wickramasingh of Cardiff University. Recently, Vyacheslav Ilyin, a Russian colleague, head of a department at the Institute of Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, agreed with him. Without categorically claiming that it was so, he fully admitted such a possibility.

Of course, it is easy to argue here that the virus would not have tolerated the extremely high temperature of the explosion, or even the "landing" of a celestial object, if it happened. But SARS-CoV-2 has already taught us that you can expect any surprises from it.
