Let's start with what you can see and taste

An exhibition will take place in Moscow - "Our glory is the Russian state!" Where can you get acquainted with the canvases of historical painting. This is the third exhibition in the Manege by the renowned master Vasily Nesterenko.

Hundreds of paintings and graphic sheets of the artist are exhibited on two floors. The name of the project accurately reflects the main theme in the work of the master: in his works he talks about the glorious past of the country, analyzes the present with interest. The backbone of the exposition is the canvases "Deliverance from the Troubles", "Defend Sevastopol!", "Moscow meets the heroes of Poltava." At the exhibition you can see images of Ivan Susanin, Dmitry Pozharsky, and other figures.

Nesterenko's landscapes are a hymn to the multifaceted nature of the country. Another side of the master's work is monumental spiritual painting: he is the author of many frescoes for Russian and foreign churches. Many works are shown for the first time.

The exhibition is open from 8 February to 3 March

In Peterhof, you can visit the most interesting museum - the Museum of Ancient Bicycles

The museum is located under the roof of one of the oldest stone houses in Peterhof. A unique collection of bicycles from different times is presented to the attention of visitors, some of which were once ridden by Russian emperors. In addition to viewing the rare exposition of the museum, guests will briefly move to the 19th century and ride modern copies of the "spider" and "bone shaker".

The exposition of the museum will acquaint visitors with the rich history of the development of cycling culture. Here you can find a variety of vintage postcards with a bicycle theme, rare stamps, playing cards, cufflinks, medals, an inkwell and even a knife holder, which are somehow related to cycling.

Of particular interest are bike numbers, bells, a variety of lights and a variety of authentic accessories for a cyclist of the time.

The museum also has its own library, which contains thousands of books, documents, catalogs and photo archives dedicated to the history of cycling.

Let's continue with the artifacts of the Slavic lands

The Hermitage wants to "study the techniques of mummification", recreate the appearance of Altai mummies and establish the causes of death

Two Altai mummies from the Hermitage collection underwent computed tomography, according to the museum's website.

The object of the study was two mummies of the 3rd century BC. from the fifth Pazyryk mound - a man-leader, who, according to anthropologists, at the time of his death was 55-60 years old and a woman buried with the leader in the same grave. It is believed that the woman was 45-50 years old at the time of her death.

Experts will try to establish the diseases that the ancient Altaians suffered, the causes of death, to recreate the appearance of a man and a woman, and also "to study in more detail the techniques of mummification."

For the first time in more than a quarter of a century, large-scale planned restoration work began in the famous Sudak fortress in the Crimea

This was reported by the scientific secretary of the Sudak Fortress Museum-Reserve Maria Rogova.

The scaffolding installed near the fortress walls and towers has been treated with fire retardants, since some objects, such as the tower of Giovanni Marione, have wooden medieval floors. The work, as noted by the scientific secretary, can be called "rescue".

In the future, restoration will affect the upper defensive fortifications of the fortress, including the citadel (Consular castle) and the Maiden's Tower. Priority works necessary for the preservation of objects are carried out according to the program approved by the State Committee for the Protection of the Cultural Heritage of Crimea.

The first mentions of the Sugdeya (Sudak) fortress date back to 212. After Crimea became part of the Byzantine Empire, the first fortifications appeared here, dating back to the 6th-7th centuries.

In the X-XIII centuries, the city experienced a peak of development, becoming a significant trade center of Taurica and the entire Northern Black Sea region. In the XIV century, the Genoese ousted from Soldaya (as they called Sudak) the Golden Horde, who ruled the fortress.

In 1475, the fortress was captured by Turkish troops. In 1771, a detachment of Russian troops entered the city without a fight.

Now the territory of the fortress (29.5 hectares) is a museum-reserve "Sudak Fortress". In the museum-reserve there are more than 60 objects of cultural heritage: towers, curtains (sections of walls between the towers), temples, cisterns, a defensive rampart, barracks.
