And the reason for this is very good. In order to create an image, the author needs to understand it, think like him and live his life. And the whole nation is the author !!! So can a German write the truth about the brownie, or say about Koschey the Immortal? Definitely not !!! To do this, you need to grow up in a Russian environment and from early childhood, after sledding, listen to the storyteller on a warm stove - an old grandfather who will surely lie from himself, but will never violate the instructive side of the story. Although the tale is a lie, there is a hint in it, a lesson to the good fellow !!! And there is nothing to say about the girls, for them a whole catechism is spelled out in the culture of the tale of Russia, to which the biblical legends of the Old Testament still need to grow.

Baba Yaga is a more dangerous creature, possessing much more power than some kind of witch. Most often, she lives in a dense forest, which has long instilled fear in people, since it was perceived as a border between the world of the dead and the living. It is not for nothing that her hut is surrounded by a palisade of human bones and skulls, and in many fairy tales Baba Yaga feeds on human flesh, and she herself is called a “leg of bone”.

Just like Koschey the Immortal (bone - bone), she belongs to two worlds at once: the world of the living and the world of the dead. Hence its almost limitless possibilities.

In fairy tales, she acts in three incarnations. The Yaga-bogatyrsha possesses the sword-Infant and fights on equal terms with the bogatyrs. The kidnapper yaga steals children, sometimes throwing them, already dead, on the roof of their home, but most often taking them to their hut on chicken legs, or into an open field, or underground. From this outlandish hut, children, and adults as well, escape by outwitting Yagibishnu. And, finally, the Yaga-donor warmly greets the hero or heroine, treats deliciously, soars in the bathhouse, gives useful advice, presents a horse or rich gifts, for example, a magic ball leading to a wonderful goal, etc.

This old witch does not walk, but drives around the world in an iron mortar (that is, a scooter chariot), and when she walks, she forces the mortar to run faster, hitting it with an iron club or pestle. And so that, for reasons known to her, no traces could be seen, they swept after her special, attached to the mortar with a broom and a broom. She is served by frogs, black cats, including the Cat Bayun, crows and snakes: all creatures in which both threat and wisdom coexist..

Pay attention to the character, Bayun's cat. He is not present in all tales about Baba Yaga, but appears only in one of them about Vasilisa the Beautiful. And there he is her protector.

So who are you, Grandma Yaga, living in such an environment?

Everything is much simpler than it seems at the beginning. And in Russia they say "if it seems, then be baptized."

Baba Yaga is the totem of the ancestors. Guardian of the clan, the eternal mother of the forest Slavs.

That is why she is endowed with such qualities, at first glance, contradictory.

The ancient Slavs, who lived in the forest, buried their dead in forest huts on chicken legs. Even now, you can see these in the taiga. They were built on high stumps, at the edges of forests, always with doors to the forest. If the traveler looked into the middle, he saw a dead man lying with his feet to the door, that is, he saw bone legs. Hence the expression to carry "feet first", which meant the deceased in the house.

Considering that the Slavs had a cult of the mother, and indeed matriarchy, women were buried in huts, and men were left in birch bark logs on the ground next to them.

And now remember what I wrote earlier about the Yaga's habitat and her feeding on human flesh. The totem eats its own kind and this state of affairs reminds us that sooner or later we will all be with our ancestors, that is, we are mortal.

The Yaga is a warrior who knows where she lies, or has the Kladenets sword, which means she is always ready to offer it to the hero or to defend her own kind herself.

She is also a teacher of small children, whom she tells to be obedient and not go far into the forest - otherwise death. And if the children come across her hut, then she does not really look after them and allows her, a wise old woman, to outwit.

As for her gifts and wise advice, it all says that she is a caring totem who cares about her kind. Yaga will definitely help someone who is honest in life and takes risks for the sake of a just cause. There will be a tangle for you that will show the way, and samogud gusli, and the Kladenets sword and even pies for the journey. The main thing is to ask her kindly and talk heart to heart.

So the tale about this old woman is over. Although I forgot the main thing !!! Where does Baba Yaga live? Should she have an exact address in our age of communications and technological progress?

Of course, she also has a place of permanent residence, over which, on regular raids to protect our Slavic people, she flies out on her stupa, driving a broomstick. And woe to the one who offends her people.
