By the way, before that, Messing managed to escape from a German prison, which he got into in connection with the same prediction of the death of Hitler. Here's how it was: “Sitting in the punishment cell of the police station, I realized: either I’ll leave now, or I’ve died … I strained all my strength and forced those police officers who were in the precinct premises to gather in my cell. Everyone, including the boss and ending with the one who was supposed to stand at the clock at the exit. When they all, obeying my will, gathered in the cell, I, who was lying completely motionless, like a dead person, quickly got up and went out into the corridor. Instantly, before they came to their senses, he slammed the bolt of the iron-bound door. The cage was reliable, the birds could not fly out of it without help."

We checked this too. Let's start with the fact that in the police stations there are no, and never have been, any punishment cells. This is the lot of the prison and they were created to punish convicts. What supernatural abilities Messing possessed that he not only did not end up in prison, but soon began performing on tour throughout the country, demonstrating his unusual skills!

Messing himself mentioned this briefly: “Where to go? The next day I was advised: I went to the art department of the city committee. I was greeted politely, but with restraint. In the Soviet Union, fighting against superstitions in the minds of people, they did not favor fortune-tellers, wizards, or palmists … Telepathy was also considered to be one of the same uncompromising pursuits. This information does not constitute a state secret and the historical archive of Lisbon has kindly provided documents for this adventurer, who left an "indelible" mark on history.

Finishing the story of the myth of Messing, I cannot but dwell on his participation in solving numerous crimes.

In journalism, it is repeatedly mentioned about Messing's participation in solving various crimes (capturing a spy, pointing out the true killer during the trial, etc.). As shown by N. N. Kitaev's research, almost all such stories are unreliable: in the archives, Messing's participation in the investigation of cases is not indicated, and the personnel of the court and prosecutor's office who worked in the places of the alleged events unanimously assert that nothing of the kind actually happened.

The exception is the events of June 1974 in Irkutsk.
