Canadian graphic designer Gareth Fowler decided to explain once and for all how certain types of weapons work and created very interesting animated illustrations. On them, he displayed the work of weapons with a different mechanism, which usually remains hidden from us.

Mechanism with lateral locking of the barrel. So far, no one has succeeded in translating this idea into reality.

Good old Gatling Minigun.

Webley Forsbery. This cannon is based on the idea of the Webley-Fosbery automatic revolver, in which reloading was done using the recoil force.

A rifle powered by a rotary cartridge of cartridges. The idea is borrowed from rifles of the late 19th - early 20th centuries.

Barrel recoil with long stroke. The idea is based on several models. One of the most successful was the Browning Auto 5, which has been in production for nearly 100 years.

Disk store. Before us is a modern machine gun of the Lewis system.

Hotchkiss revolving system. Based on the Hochtkiss revolving cannon that accompanied the American cavalry during the Spanish-American War and related military conflicts.

Machine gun of the Gardner system. The principle of operation of this double-barreled machine gun is based on a mechanical trigger mechanism, which is set in motion by rotating the handle.

Semi-free shutter with lever deceleration. This is approximately how the automation system of the French FAMAS machine works.

Cam mechanism. Automatic cannon of a revolving type with a gas exhaust system.
