"Magi are not afraid of mighty rulers, and they do not need a princely gift. Their prophetic language is truthful and free, and is friendly with the will of heaven."

(A. S. Pushkin "Song of the Prophetic Oleg")

The keeper of the site "New Chronology", the sincere companion, the restless yachtsman, Irina Koloskova, is dedicated, with a grain of salt, to the author.

Throughout its history, the Russian people treated sorcerers with awe and respect at the same time. As evidenced by numerous chronicles, at about the same period when the fires of the Inquisition were blazing with might and main in Western Europe, there were many women in Moscow who had extensive practice. The wives of the boyars approached them quite openly for advice on how to eliminate family troubles. In the arsenal of the wizards there were funds for all occasions: to soften the ferocious jealousy of a spouse, to tame his anger, to exterminate enemies, to ensure "good success" in love affairs …

From historical sources it is clear that even the reigning persons were not alien to superstitions and openly kept "prophetic wives" at court. For example, the wife of Grand Duke Vasily Ivanovich, Solomonia, repeatedly resorted to witchcraft to overcome infertility. Once the Ryazan sorceress Stepanida was brought to her. She, after conducting a "gynecological examination", once again confirmed that the princess would not have children. And in order to somehow mitigate Solomon's grief over this, she enchanted that her husband would always love her and be crazy about her.

I must admit, the witchcraft worked. Despite the fact that the prince really wanted to have children, and there were many noble girls ready to help him in this, he lived with Solomon for 20 years. True, then he divorced, sent her to a monastery and married another. Tolley by that time witchcraft had lost its power, or the prince was made a "lapel" by his personal sorcerers. But the years were nevertheless lost, and Vasily Ivanovich was now forced to heal himself for infertility using unconventional methods. Witchcraft helped, and, as the famous prince Kurbsky writes in his memoirs, “two sons were born to him: one preppy and bloodsucker (the future Ivan the Terrible), and the other mad and without memory and wordless”. Below I will tell you my opinion about Tsar Ivan the Terrible, but now, I will tell the reader that Kurbsky was a traitor to the Russian people and served the enemies of the state, therefore, it is worth taking his words with obvious skepticism, and the person himself with contempt.

The grandmother of Ivan the Terrible, Princess Anna Glinskaya herself had a reputation as a witch. The rumors were aided by the fact that the Glinsky family descended from the Tatar Murza Leksad. They said about Anna that she took out hearts from the dead and put them in water, which she then sprinkled on Moscow streets. Therefore, when a terrible fire broke out in Moscow in 1547, which destroyed the city center in a few hours, including the Kremlin and Gostiny Dvor, the people considered the Glinskys to be the culprits of the disaster. The Glinsky estate was plundered, the servants and children were killed, and Yuri Glinsky was killed by the crowd in the Assumption Cathedral, where he sought refuge.

Starting to write a miniature about witches, the author experiences a legitimate fear, especially since in his family there was Maria Nagaya, the granddaughter of one of the wives of Tsar John, nicknamed the Terrible in Russia, according to the legend of the family, whose grandmother, also Maria Nagaya, was tormented by witches on no and rested in terrible anguish. And, in addition, the author, like any normal man, has a relationship with the female sex, and he, as you know, is a nettle seed and is entirely composed of witches. After all, ask any tipsy peasant, and he will reveal to you the pictures of female deceit and their witch's essence; each of us knows that it is in the light of God's sun, they are all decent citizens. But as soon as the great luminary rolls over the horizon and then this begins … Well, you guys know !!! And the fierce seed has nothing to tell …

However, the image of Tsar Ivan is heavily slandered in modern history. Ivan Vasilyevich was terrible for enemies of the state, and the form that he took in our perception is nothing but slander and lies of the dynasty of usurpers of the ancient power of the Romanovs, who seized the throne of the Russian-Horde emperors of the Great Tartary of Russia by bribery, poisoning and intrigue … Ivan the Terrible, a descendant of the Roman emperors-Basileus of the Second Rome - Byzantium, directly called himself the great-grandson of the Emperor Augustus Caesar and reported this in a letter to the Queen of England, who, like all monarchs of Europe, recognized this fact:

- You are an obscene girl! Of a peasant's kind! And, We lead our lineage from the Emperor Augustus Caesar, and in our estates we are free to execute and have mercy. We do not order you to have intercourse with Us, besides Our people, represented at your court!

This is how the tsar-father talked with his Euro-slaves. Of course, I am not giving the text verbatim, but I convey the meaning exactly

Now that the image of this great sovereign has been slandered, this letter is presented as the notes of a madman, but all these kings and dukes knew where the throne of their master was. By the way, under the image of John, three real tsars are collected, one of whom is attributed to the crimes of the Romanovs, who created the oprichnina, but later placed all the blame on the evil tsar Ivan the Terrible, invented by them. The emperor of Russia himself was immortalized by the people in the cathedral named after him, St. Basil's Cathedral. The baptismal name of John was Basil (basileus - emperor). After the capture of Kazan, he suffered a mental illness and the tsar took monastic tonsure, transferring power to his brother. Monk Basil the Blessed is the very saint who is venerated by all of Russia - Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich the Terrible.

During the reign of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich in 1638, the case of the Zamoskvoretsk witches caused a great public outcry. It turned out that the evil spirits are not hiding in dense forests, but are creeping up to the very royal chambers.

One royal gold embroiderer, having quarreled with her friend Nastasya, loudly announced that she was a witch, pouring ashes on the sovereign's trail. Kind people reported about it where necessary, and soon the friend of the gold embroiderer found herself in a torture chamber. Since it turned out that Nastasya's husband is a foreign citizen, Lithuanian Yanko Pavlov, they tried to give the case a political aspect. Nastasya was accused that she, by order of the Polish and Lithuanian king, damages the Russian sovereign and empress. But, even being pulled up on a rack, Nastasya continued to insist that there was no malicious intent in her actions. And she poured the ashes on the royal trail "not for a dashing affair, but in order for the sovereign or the empress queen to pass over the ashes, and whose petition will be at that time, and that will be done."

Maybe they believed Nastasya and would have released her in peace, but, to her misfortune, a pestilence attacked the royal family. In 1639, the five-year-old Tsarevich Ivan Mikhailovich died of illness, followed by the newborn heir Vasily Mikhailovich. Few doubted that the chain of deaths caused the damage that the Zamoskvoretsk witches had sent. As a result of cruel torture, Nastasya and her friend Ulyana died in prison. Several more Zamoskvoretsky gossips were sent into exile.

In general, the female genus was unlucky at all times! Here in Russia it is still so and so, but in Europe, witches were executed especially skillfully. I will not recall all the horrors of the Inquisition, I will only say one thing:

- Thank you God, for the fact that Russian priests have always been womanizers and did not harass the color of the feminine family for their vile consolation. The Fathers of the Holy Inquisition were clearly sado-masochistic. Nothing has changed with the times. Only the Vatican looks more disgusting and filthy, in its agony, which I hope to see to the end.

Not! Russian pop is gluttonous, woman-lover and lover of life! That is why he has a different attitude to witches!

How not to remember the anecdote of hoary antiquity:

Father! You ordered the witch to be drowned

Humble yourself, son! I command you to drown

So she's so beautiful

Well, OK! Persuaded! But then drown

Several executions of witches and sorcerers during the reign of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich became famous. So, the old woman Olena was burned in a log house on charges of sorcery. She herself admitted that she spoiled people with magic papers and herbs and taught some witchcraft.

Agafya and her teacher in witchcraft Tereshka Ivlev were subjected to the same execution in 1647, who were accused of having killed several peasants to death with the help of spells and "the thread of a dead man with a sentence". That's all! I was no longer able to find executions of witches and sorcerers in Russia during the reign of Alexei the Quiet, while hundreds of thousands of women were killed in Europe.

The head of the Streletsky order, the okolnichy Fyodor Shaklovity, sent the warlock to Preobrazhenskoye to exterminate Peter I. What happened to the warlock is unknown. But it is known that on Bolotnaya Square, Dorofeyka Prokofiev and his assistants were publicly burned in a log house "for their theft and for their state health for an evil magic and divine intent." In 1869, Prokofiev was hired by the tsar's steward Andrei Bezobrazov, so that he magically inspired the sovereign not to send him to the Terek as a voivode. Moreover, he hired it rather cheaply: for a ruble of money, a quarter of rye flour, half an octopus of wheat flour, an octopus of peas, half an octopus of cereals, half a stew of meat and half a bucket of wine. Oh, this wine with a snack to the sorcerer and his accomplices hiccuped when they burned in the log house. The steward Bezobrazov did not escape execution. Needless to say, the wine fraught with this business is free, the price is villainous. !!! Oh, fraught!

In the 19th century, punishment for sorcerers and witches began to be limited to flogging. Mikhail Chukarev from the city of Pinega, Arkhangelsk province, at the libel of his sister Afimya Lobanova, was sentenced in 1815 to 35 lashes with a whip and church repentance. The “corpus delicti” in this case consisted in the fact that he, allegedly, let the spoilage on this woman, forcing her to hiccup!

My mother !!! Well, is it not a nettle seed, this genus is female! Is the Ryazan chick overeating pancakes on butter and for this lie down to the peasant under the whip of the master of the back business? She hiccups! Yes, I once scared my hiccuping mother-in-law-witch that she was speechless and, like a small child, went down to herself !!! All in all, that he dropped a three-liter can with tomatoes on his back! The tomatoes were obviously badly closed, fermented …

By the way, ancient witches and modern witches were of completely different quality. Those old-fashioned ones were much kinder than the modern ones, which are played on TV today. Judge for yourself:

Ekaterina Vishnyakova, a resident of the city of Onega, had a reputation as a sorceress with her friends. Therefore, when in July 2007 she invited her friend to carry out a ceremony on the return of her husband to her as a repayment of a debt of 9 thousand rubles, she readily agreed. To perform the witchcraft ritual, Catherine lured her acquaintance to the cemetery at night, and there she tied her to a tree, blindfolded her and began to strangle her. Fortunately, the gullible lady managed to escape and run to the cemetery gatehouse, where she took refuge from the witch's pursuit. For the attempted murder of Vishnyakova, she was sentenced to nine years in prison.

Such are the witches today! How can one not suffocate, for a low price, since the client turned out to be a fool? Blindfolded and tied to a tree, she returned her husband to the cemetery !!! Here Fifela, I would take a shovel and dig it up for the future! One fence supports, the other lies in the cellar for carnal pleasure, and the third is a scarecrow in the garden, but not against the birds, but against the cunning neighbors, encroaching on tomatoes! Blind eyes are now in use among Madams Gritsatsuyevs, who have suffered from male affection !!!

Here I am writing a miniature about serious things, and I am hooting like Ivashka the fool, who was shown a clear button. Believe it or not, the woman is the most comic character in the tragedy called life.

Since ancient times, burning has been used as a punishment for witches and sorcerers. In ancient Russia, the wise men were considered evil wizards. They were mostly burned - both for sorcery and for magic. This type of execution was especially popular in Novgorod. For "seduction" of the people and rejection of the Christian faith, by order of Prince Gleb, the Novgorodians burned the sorcerer in 1071, and in 1227 they burned four wise men, although the boyars wanted to prevent this.

When a plague epidemic began in Pskov in 1411, 12 women were burned to death on charges of spreading the disease. In 1446, Prince Ivan Mozhaisky publicly burned together with the wife of the boyar Andrei Dmitrievich - for magic.

So it was lucky for a resident of the city of Onega, Ekaterina Vishnyakova, that her mother gave birth, in the 21st century, the enlightened century.

By the way, before the adoption of Christianity by Russia, there were no executions of witches in its expanses, because the meaning of the word witch was among the ancient Slavs of a different kind than the present.

They understood it as a woman, wise with life experience, as a rule, a healer grandmother or the eldest woman in the family. It meant "knowing mother" who knows the recipes of what we now call "herbal medicine", who used ancient conspiracies, who knows the tradition of their ancestors and is truly the holder of the family hearth.

By the way, the mother-in-law is also a bit of a witch, because, as it means, this word is “holy blood”, and not “fresh”, as some readers of this miniature thought.

Do you know the name of the girl who entered the path of keeping the hearth? Right! The bride, that is, “not knowing a hundred,” a blank sheet on which all the merits and vices of a particular family will be written, which she will accept. The word "hundred" in Russia meant "myself". That is, the bride does not yet behave. Later, she will become a young woman (a young spirit from family happiness), then after the birth of her first child, she will turn into a stout woman (inclined to childbirth) and after going a long way from a girl to her grandmother, she will become a WITCH - a knowing mother.

At the same time, I will make it clear to the reader who the family and friends are. Everything is simple here, only we have forgotten and do not understand the difference between these concepts. Relatives are relatives on the father's side, and relatives on the mother's side, on the witch's lineage! Well, all the rest, who see off the deceased on the last journey, are comrades, friends, colleagues, neighbors, etc. Moreover, comrades in the ancient language meant something like that. what we now call "accomplices." To look for a comrade meant the creation of a gang of thieves that robbed merchant caravans and plows

As Gleb Zheglov would say:

- In the common people, called a gang!

However, I forgot the main character in the story of the witches! Come on, go white mother-in-law, dear friend, you will not be remembered for sleep !!!

The meaning of the word "mother-in-law" among the Slavs is surprisingly good and means "consolation", "amuse". Like, forgive the good fellow, for the sweetheart that you got as a wife! Let my sons-in-law dear, I will console you in our, in Slavonic way !!! And the son-in-law lies in the red corner under the images in a tetanus stupor, from the blow of the makogon, which fell with the mighty hand of the "comforter" on the narrow forehead of the "comforted". And the witch herself drives the flies away from the body with a rolling pin. Still better than a blind man!

You understand, but the state could not pass by the witch's tricks. Therefore, his reaction was quite predictable. In the criminal proceedings of many European countries, an article for "witchcraft" was introduced, which was in force at the beginning of the 20th century, and in some states of the United States and England exists to this day.

In Russia, everything was different.

The court cases of Russia related to witchcraft are full of cases when people suspected of witchcraft were acquitted. So, for a long time it was believed among the people that attacks of hysteria are sent by witches. Moreover, the victims during the seizure call the name of the one who sent damage to them. As a result, hundreds and even thousands of dishonest crooks began to feign illness in order to bring unwanted people under the monastery. In the end, Peter I, who had delved into almost all court cases, got tired of it, and he ordered to grab all the hysterics and conduct an investigation first on them.

In 1770, in the Vologda province, there were a few mindless, otherwise you cannot say, the girls pretended to be whoopers and accused different people of their spoilage. They were captured and brutally tortured. Of course, everyone recognized themselves as witches. One of the suspects even said that she entered into relations with the devil and received from him some worms, which she let in the direction of the victims.

The judges expressed doubts and demanded that the witch's worms be presented. Poor women got them somewhere, the court sent material evidence to the Senate, where pundits recognized in them … the larvae of common flies. The Senate excommunicated the judges from their posts for incompetence, ordered the girls-simulators to be flogged with rods and ordered not to believe such slander in the future.

The end of the era of litigation related to witchcraft is the significant, in fact, case of a woman who, as a witch, flew out of the chimney of her own house on a broomstick, which was witnessed by thirty (!) Witnesses who saw this event with their own eyes. When considering this case in 1888, the Orenburg Joint Chamber of Civil and Criminal Court applied an article of the law on witchcraft to the accused. However, the Senate in St. Petersburg revised the decision of the Orenburg judges and delivered its final verdict, the essence of which was as follows: in this particular case, the punishment should be applied not for witchcraft, but for a theatrical performance unlawful by the administration !!!

This is perhaps all that I decided to tell the reader about witches. Of course, my main goal was the desire to make him smile, of which there are so few, in our difficult time of wars and hard times. However, I think that my friend, the reader, received a lot of useful information and will take a fresh look at European values, where a lot of place has always been given to women. Only smart, knowledgeable, courageous, sincere, gentle, kind, caring women were not appreciated in Europe. Do you hear the Slavs? This is me all about you! Forgive me if I didn't list all the worthy epithets. They did not order to execute, but to have mercy on the Empress Russian Woman, the eternal servant of her Genku son Vladimirov from the ancient boyar family of the noblemen of Russia Panteleevs! Forgive Mother Empress, if I offended in this story, my evil intention was not!

It is a well-known fact: foreign men who come to Russia celebrate the downright unearthly beauty of our women and by hook or by crook try to take them abroad. You can understand them in principle: they destroyed their most valuable gene pool over the centuries of the witch hunt, but we saved it! The leading mother of Russia is her umbilical cord with the world Creator, and not a European devil with evil designs.

Let the reader, finally, tell you how to recognize a witch with one hundred percent success. This recipe is from a friend of mine, a local Casanova. He suggests that each new acquaintance, worthy of male attention, be stroked from behind, in order to determine the presence of a tail in the latter. I have not tried it myself, but in our village Vanka is reputed to be an intelligent and successful person in relations with ladies. I advise you to listen to a wise man, but stock up on a bruise from bruises.

OK it's all over Now! There was only advice from the author and morality from the fable:

- So, drown them all !!! But first…!!!
