The following article tells the story of an underground civilization allegedly discovered in the Grand Canyon, Arizona. In conclusion, the author concludes that this is most likely a fictional story. And what do you think? Is this a real, fake, or mysterious cover-up story? Remember, a skeptic is someone who asks questions and gathers evidence before reaching conclusions.

Located in the US state of Arizona, the Grand Canyon is one of the planet's most magnificent natural wonders. Carved over forty million years by the Colorado River, 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide, it is the world's largest natural phenomenon, but it is also home to deep historical mysteries and oddities. The most unusual claim is that somewhere underground, an advanced unknown civilization that was lost to history once ruled here. She allegedly inhabited a complex of caves, which they left to sow hoaxes and speculation with their passage. This is a very curious case, which, if real, could shake our historical perception to the core.

This bizarre and mysterious story began with a curious article that appeared right on the front page of the April 5, 1909 Arizona Bulletin. It contained an impressive account from two archaeologists funded by the Smithsonian Institution. These two professors, S. A. Jordan and G. E. The Kinkaid, claimed to have found deep in the bowels of the earth, in the Marble Canyon region, the beginning of the Grand Canyon, a vast cave system with evidence of some ancient lost civilization.

The two scientists were funded by the Anthropology Department of the Smithsonian Institution and claimed to have found the entrance to a mysterious cave system about 1,500 feet deep, along a sheer cliff in a remote, uncharted area. The area was described as almost inaccessible and this is how one of the scientists, G. E. Kinkaid:

After the arduous journey to the entrance, an intricate system of tunnels, grottoes and caves was apparently discovered, allegedly leading into darkness, and it was noted that most of them appeared to have been painstakingly carved and hewn by hand. Upon examination of the system, it was found that it plunged about a mile underground, with huge chambers that passed into new tunnels and there were hundreds of rooms with oval doorways. Kinkaid described it this way:

Even stranger, in this system of tunnels and caves, numerous relics and artifacts were discovered, such as weapons, various brass instruments, idols, urns, vases. All that showed that the conversation was about some ancient, previously unknown civilization, apparently from the East. At some point, they came across what appeared to be a large temple (shrine) with various artifacts, none of which belonged to the culture of this region and were not known to the people inhabiting it. This temple (shrine) was described in the Kinkaid report as follows:

Some places were even more incomprehensible and creepy, to the point that scientists considered them even dangerous. One such place seemed to be riddled with a sense of fear and danger, and Kinkide's description was almost like something from an Indiana Jones movie:

What was the purpose of this particularly creepy place? Kinkaid didn't say. There were also barracks, sleeping quarters and a huge dining room with many kitchen utensils. So vast and complete was this veritable underground city, which Kinkaid suggested had enough space and facilities to comfortably accommodate about 50,000 people. Kinkaid's own theory was that this mysterious civilization was there even before the indigenous peoples of the region, and the local natives may have descended from them. He believed that this mysterious people existed there for thousands of years, and that they built their advanced civilization in solitude. The newspaper itself suggested that this civilization might even have originated from Ancient Egypt, proving that the Egyptians made their way into the New World, and stated that this discovery:

… almost convincingly proves that the race that inhabited this mysterious underground complex, carved into solid stone by human hands, was of Eastern origin, possibly from Egypt, and can be traced back to Ramses. If their theories are confirmed by the translation of the hieroglyph engraved tablets, the mystery of the prehistoric peoples of North America, their ancient arts, who they were and where they came from, will be solved. Egypt and the Nile, Arizona and Colorado will be linked by a historical chain, returning to an era that strikes the wildest fantasies.

The whole story is very sensational, and the idea of some lost civilization from Egypt dwelling under the Grand Canyon captured the public's imagination at a time when the lost underground city of Kinkayda became legendary. The problem is that this is too little to confirm this story, or even prove that Kinkaid was ever a real person. It seems that no one has ever seen any of these artifacts, although Kinkaid claimed to have sent several relics to the Smithsonian for evaluation, and no images were provided, and there are no other articles to confirm or deny. In addition, there seem to be no records of either Professor Kinkide or Professor Jordan in the Department of Anthropology at the Smithsonian Institution, and there are no documents about them or their alleged discoveries. The Smithsonian Institution itself bluntly said in a statement to The World Explorers Club:

Given this lack of evidence and the sensationalism of the report, it seems likely that this was all a hoax, perpetrated either by the newspaper to sell circulation, by the author, or by Kinkaid himself. However, despite the fact that there seems to be no evidence of the existence of this underground civilization, the story does not die, was published and republished in many sources, and is still debated today.

One of the more popular theories is that the venerable Smithsonian itself is engaged in hiding the results, destroying the evidence and evidence that lead to it in order to maintain the status quo and maintain the accepted historical paradigm.

There are even those who claim to know the actual location of the cave entrance, such as explorer Jack Andrews, who says he was able to figure out the location back in 1972 and only gives cryptic hints, saying:

Conspiracy theorist John Rhodes also claims to know the secret of the location of Kinkayda's cave. Although he is very secretive in this matter, and only says that the entrance is constantly guarded by armed guards and adds that this underground complex has become a base for a shadow secret society. Another theory proposed by researcher David Icke, who is mainly known for his theories about reptilians infiltrated our society to become our overlords. Hayk believes that the Kinkaid cave system not only exists but is also a reptilian center. In his sensational 1999 book The Biggest Secret, Ike writes:

It is clear that the story of the mysterious caves of Kinkayda continues to live on and grow with rumors. Is there anything to confirm this, or is it all purely a hoax, or is it half-truth? If the caves existed, then where are they and who were those mysterious people who inhabited them for a long time? Are they made by ancient illegal Egyptians, some other lost civilization or underground reptilian monsters? Such a place and its relics would be absolutely innovative, they would rewrite history, but given the lack of information talking about them, and the complete absence of any evidence, the story will remain mysterious and mysterious, will be used only in conspiracy theories and will be buried in secret. like the underground city itself.
