Video: Film: The Earth of the Future. But what if we get there, and everything will be there?

Good reason for a Saturday movie show. Post-apocalyptic films come out very often, it seems that Hollywood has already put an end to the future of humanity and now only wonders what will cause the death of billions of people. Does it depend on us what the Earth of the Future will be like?
Today, cinemas regularly release films depicting the planet's disastrous future. From the latest examples, it is enough to recall "Interstellar", "Mad Max: Fury Road", "Elysium: Heaven on Earth", both series of "Divergent". In most cases, the heroes of such pictures are busy trying to survive in the conditions of the happened or the upcoming apocalypse. The reasons for the global catastrophe are different: it can be wars, and environmental disasters, and new viruses, and hunger, but what unites such stories is the obsessive inevitability of the coming tragic events.
Sometimes one gets the impression that Hollywood has already put an end to the future of humanity and now only wonders what will cause the death of several billion people. But not everything is so unambiguous in the dream factory, and the film "Future Land" by the Disney company is another confirmation of this. Immediately, we note that the picture received a low rating from international critics and, among other things, for this reason, its wide release was poorly advertised.
For those who prefer to first get acquainted with the plot, below, under the film itself, there is a review of the site whatisgood.ru dedicated to this film.
You can watch the movie Future Earth in high quality online below, however, the resource on which the movie is uploaded can show ads.
Film Future Earth
The plot of the movie
The main character of the film with a very memorable name Casey Newton goes to a regular school. She differs from other children in that when one of the teachers begins to talk about the problems that humanity will inevitably face in the near future, Casey always pulls his hand and asks the same question: "how to fix the situation?" She disagrees with the negative perspectives that society persistently imposes on her, citing the worlds of such dystopias as Brave New World by Aldous Huxley or Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury as examples.
Trying on her own to prevent the demolition of the cosmodrome where her father works, Casey ends up in prison, where an unusual badge falls into her hands. Having touched him, she is suddenly transported into a fantastic world. In the few minutes that the mysterious medallion is active, Casey manages to learn that in the new reality people have reached unprecedented heights in the development of technology, learned to control gravity, fly to the stars and built cities with ideal conditions for life and creative development.
This image of the future is so impressive to her that once again on Earth, Casey decides by all means to find out the secret of the new universe and figure out what kind of connection lies between our worlds.
Before embarking on an adventure, she, wanting to cheer up her father, who is about to lose his job, reminds him of the story of two wolves fighting in the soul of every person:
Casey: One wolf is despair and darkness, and the other is hope and love. Which of the wolves will win?
Father: The wolf you feed.
But in life everything will be much more complicated than in a short story about wolves. Casey will have to face robots, some of which will try to kill her, while others will help; learn how to operate a time machine; fly on a space rocket hidden in the Eiffel Tower; meet a genius scientist who has lost hope, who is counting the days until the upcoming global catastrophe, not believing that everything can be changed. One of the main ideas of the film is that the future is multivariate and depends on the actions of each of the people. But the most important thing is that Casey will have to prove to everyone around her, including herself, that humanity has a future - a bright, joyful one that will surely come.
What does Future Earth teach you?
The film carries many meanings, the understanding of which largely depends on the viewer's worldview. What lies on the surface is a good example of protagonists who are shown in adolescence by creative and talented guys who are interested in technology and science. Despite all the obstacles and even the lack of proper support from society and loved ones, they follow their dream, not wanting to put up with injustice and trying on their own to make the world a better place.
At the second level, the question of the influence of forecasts and predictions on people's lives is raised. Once again in another world, Casey learns about the existence of the tower, which broadcasts the image of an imminent catastrophe to all of humanity. The creators of the tower are trying to convince the main characters that people on Earth “as they were and remain savages and they should not be allowed to technology,” and the impending death of humanity is a voluntary decision of people caused by unwillingness to do anything.
Tower owners: “Are you wondering how people reacted to the news of their imminent demise? They pounced on her like a chocolate eclair. They were not scared, they digested it, embodied the idea in video games, in TV shows, in books, in films. All of humanity fervently welcomes the apocalypse and awaits it with delight and glee. In the meantime, the world is bursting at the seams and flies into hell, at the same time suffering from an epidemic of starvation and obesity … Look around, the world is screaming at you that the end is coming, but the people don't give a damn about it. At any moment you can change your future, but for some reason you do not believe in it, and your disbelief prevents you from making your hopes a reality. And now you whine about a terrible future, you give in to it. And the reason is simple: this future does not require your efforts in the present."
Casey and her friends think differently. They do not believe in the initially vicious nature of man, do not agree to swap causes and effects, and demonstrate that the very tower that programs people for the apocalypse makes people savages:
“The transmitter is standing here, and you catch the waves there … And if this transmitter not only predicts the future, but programs it? … What if the transmitter control panel is a giant icon, but only instead of positive, he broadcasts negative and convinces people to feed the wrong wolf ».
The film leads the viewer to the idea that the future will be the way we imagine it and depict it in films, books, games.
We need to support those ideas that make the world a better place, carry a bright faith in tomorrow. You need to dream about the future, not be afraid of it.
Unfortunately, not all the main characters in the film show good relations with their parents, and the only love story in the plot develops between a man and a robot who has learned to feel (besides, if at the beginning of the film these are children, then from the middle of the film the robot remains in the image of a child, and a person is shown as an adult man - the situation looks very ambiguous). But maybe in science fiction it is better to portray robots who have learned to love than people who have become so insensitive that they look more like biorobots?
I would like to end the review with a short excerpt from the film - a dialogue between parents and a child:
- Why do you love the stars so much?
- Because I really want to go there.
- But this is very far away … But what if you get there, and there will be nothing?
- And what if I finish, and everything will be there?
