Does the underworld really exist under the pyramids of Giza? If we look at ancient texts written thousands of years ago, we find incredible details of a long-lost world hidden under our feet.

As if the pyramids of the Giza plateau and the Sphinx are not spectacular enough on their own, but there are numerous tales of secret tunnels, passages and chambers located under the Giza plateau … Some of these chambers are said to be over 15,000 years old.

It is a massive underworld kept out of society, hidden from history books.

In fact, the entire Memphis (Giza) region is said to be covered in underground chambers and secret rooms.

Not far from Giza, in the Fayum oasis, Herodotus once described the existence of an incredible Labyrinthwhich, according to his writings, was "an endless surprise to me."

This ancient labyrinth, according to Herodotus of impressive size, contained up to 1500 rooms and underground chambers.

This ancient structure left Herodotus in awe, and he wrote about it:

“… There I saw twelve palaces, evenly spaced, which communicated with each other, alternating with terraces and arranged around twelve halls. It is hard to believe that this is the work of a man, the walls are covered with carved figures, and each courtyard is exquisitely built of white marble and surrounded by a colonnade. At the corner where the maze ends there is a pyramid two hundred and forty feet highwith large carved figures of animals on it and an underground passage through which you can get into it. I was told that underground chambers and passages connect this pyramid with the pyramids in Memphis …"

Herodotus even wrote about the massive multi-level megalithic complex under the pyramids at Giza, which could hold at least 15,000 people. Interestingly, many authors supported the writing of Herodotus about the underground passages connecting the main pyramids.

What secrets are hidden under the Giza plateau?

Iamblichus Chalcidesis, or Iamblichus of Apamea, the Syrian Neo-Platonic philosopher and biographer of Pythagoras wrote about the passage through the body of the Sphinx into the Great Pyramid:

“… This entrance, blocked today by sand and debris, can still be traced between the forelimbs of the crouching colossus. Previously, it was closed by a bronze gate, the secret of the opening of which could only be controlled by the Magi. He is guarded by public respect, and a kind of religious fear keeps him intact better than armed defenses. In the belly of the Sphinx, galleries were carved leading to the underground portion of the Great Pyramid. These galleries were so skillful - they crossed completely on their way to the pyramid, that, going into the passage without a guide along this whole network, one continuously and inevitably returned to the starting point …"

The Giza Plateau is well known for its massive underground system, which consists of both man-made tunnels and chambers as well as underground rivers and passages that have been mapped using ground penetrating radar since 1978.

Several historians have pondered the size of these underground structures and what they might represent.

Some researchers argue that cameras located near Giza below our largest cathedrals and that legendary "City of the Gods" could be, in fact, a massive structure located below the surface.

Secret underground passages can be found in a manuscript currently housed in the British Museum, written by Altelemsani, which details extensive square underground passage, built between the Great Pyramid and the Nile River, with a "strange thing" blocking the entrance of the Nile, “During the time of Ahmed Ben Tulun, one participant entered the Great Pyramid through a tunnel and found a glass goblet in a side chamber rare color and texture … When they left, it was evening, and they went to look for him. He walked out to them naked and laughed, saying, "Don't follow me or don't look for me," and then rushed back into the pyramid. His friends realized that he was fascinated.

Upon learning of the strange events under the pyramid, Ahmed Ben Tulun expressed a desire to see a glass goblet. During the research, the goblet was filled with water and weighed, then emptied and re-weighed. The historian wrote that it "turned out to be equal to the weight when it was empty, and when the water was poured into it."

In addition, other writers such as Masudi (10th century) have written about fascinating "Mechanical statues with amazing powers" who stood as guards, preventing anyone from entering the underground chambers located under the Great Pyramid.

These "robots" from ancient times were allegedly programmed to destroy everyone "except those who, in their opinion, were worthy of reception."

"… written records of Wisdom and acquisitions in various arts and sciences were buried deep so that they could remain as records for the benefit of those who could later understand them."

"… I saw things that I never described, for fear of making people think that I am crazy … but still I saw them …" - Masudi, 10th century.
