Our ancestors were wise and resourceful in the transfer of knowledge to future generations. No wonder they say: "If you want to hide it securely, put it in a conspicuous place." This is exactly what the sages did, they passed on a lot of knowledge through objects that were in everyday use. You can talk about a lot: about dishes, and about legends, epics and songs, and about clothes. Let's talk about embroidery on clothes. What do these intricate drawings conceal? What information do they carry to descendants through the centuries? Who embroidered? How? And for what?

In the old days, it was mainly girls who embroidered, since, who did not give birth, they had no right to do anything in the field. Responsibilities in Slavic families were strictly distributed: girls embroidered and sewed the whole family, grandmothers cooked food, looked after grandchildren; mothers worked in the fields and did housework. Our ancestors taught girls with three years of age all the intricacies of this needlework. From childhood, thanks to this activity, diligence, patience, perseverance and understanding of generic symbols were brought up.

The girl preparing for the wedding had to embroider about fifty towels, bed linen, wedding valances, shirts, curtains, shawls and other clothes. The fabric was made by hand, a shirt was cut out of it. The shirt was the most common underwear of the ancient Slavs. Its name comes from the root "rub" - a piece, a piece of fabric and related to the word "cut". It was just a piece of cloth folded in half with a hole for the head and tied with a belt. Initially, the shirt was one-piece, without seams. Later, the back and front were sewn, adding sleeves.

The shirt was made of a coarser and thicker material, while a short and light shirt was made of a thinner and softer one. All the holes in the shirt were embroidered in a circle: sleeves, hem and especially the collar. It was believed that in the absence protective embroidery, evil spirits could penetrate through the parts of the body uncovered by the shirt and harm a person.

Our ancestors saw the world as a tree with three branches. The right branch is the world Reveal (the explicit world in which we live), the left branch is the world Navi (the world of spirits, where souls go after death). There is peace in between Rule, a world law that does not allow penetration from world to world. Rule is the abode of the gods. Now it is clear why we need embroidery. It symbolizes the Rule, the border that the forces of Navi cannot cross. The embroidered clothes became protective and passed on to subsequent generations: children, grandchildren.

An intricate pattern appears on the fabric, thanks to the assistant of the craftswoman - needle … The needle acts like a magic wand. The fact is that a small piece of metal has extraordinary strength. It turns out that it is able to attract and transmit the energy of space through itself. The eye of the needle generates vortex currents that revolve around like a tornado and create a strong field. It, passing through the entire needle, pours out on all objects that the needle point touches, and this is where the real magic begins. After all, it is on the tip of the needle that all power, healing power is concentrated. And the thoughts, tenderness, care, love of the embroiderer in relation to the one to whom the object of creation was intended, many times enhanced the protective function of the amulet.

The embroidery was carried out mainly with threads of red and all its shades: scarlet, lingonberry, currant, poppy, cherry. This color was given special importance. The seams with which the embroidery was carried out are counted. That is, the threads of the fabric are counted for each stitch! The drawing was not previously transferred to the fabric, but only with large stitches its place and size were outlined.

Embroidery is not a single symbol, but a combination of symbols, each of which has its own meaning. The most widespread are such countable seams as "painting", "set", "counting surface". You can talk for hours about the methods and patterns of embroidery. We'll leave that for later review, but now let's touch on the main points of this magical creation.

The craftswoman must have be in chargethat the correct embroidery presupposes the absence of knots and tangled threads from the seamy side, since the knots cut off the energetic connection of the embroidery with its carrier and impede the smooth flow of energy. Both sides had to be impeccably tidy. Products with such embroidered amulet symbols were intended for those in charge and knights. In this case, the location of the drawing, its color, the drawing itself, and, of course, the process of execution, also matter.

The variety of symbols is amazing. Each element of the pattern had its own meaning. In the products that have survived to this day, an ordinary person will see folk ornament decorating clothes and craftsmanship; and only the initiated will discern in the mysterious drawings the inherent knowledge, certain information designed to help in solving important life problems, understanding the laws of the world around.

In general, our ancestors were quite practical people. It is impossible to find simply beautiful, but meaningless use of symbols in everyday objects. The number of protective symbols is enormous. These are various lines, geometric shapes, images of animals, plants, etc.

Each item of clothing was individually embroidered. The following example is very interesting. The area of the lungs and bronchi of the human body is covered with a part of the shirt called "poliki" and "mantle", which were decorated with a pattern of "hooks" (swans). Such a coincidence is not easy, because it was the birds (swans) among the Slavs who symbolized the element of air that a person breathes with the help of the same lungs.

So, the doctor - kinesiologist O. V. Deev, using the DiaDENS therapeutic apparatus (manufactured in Yekaterinburg, Russia), using the Voll method, measured the change in potentials at biologically active points (BAP), which are responsible for the state of certain meridians (control-measuring points), before and during contact with the embroidered drawing of that area of the human body, which is adjacent to the organ associated with the investigated meridian. And what happened? It turns out that measurements have shown the ability of specific patterns to normalize the BAP parameters of individual meridians and, therefore, have a beneficial effect on the internal organs of a person.

According to the diagnosis of the doctor O. V. Deev, the beneficial effect of patterns of head ribbons and headdresses on the functioning of the brain, stimulation of imaginative thinking, improvement of sleep, normalization of values at the points of the hypothalamus, the center of vegetative regulation of the human body, has been proven.

Our ancestors were such "savages" and "second-class ignoramuses".

Where did they get their deep knowledge of human anatomy, the laws of the world around them? The connection between micro and macrocosm? We do not yet know for sure, but all this proves the existence of a whole layer of culture, knowledge, laid down by more than one millennium of development. Indeed, during our emancipated century, we have only just come close to solving the messages of our ancestors. Low bow to those people who are able to restore the connection of times, convey to us all the greatness and richness of the culture of our ancestors. We, the descendants of our ancestors, have something to be proud of, and something to strive for. The revival of traditions is taking place!

The symbol of a woman in labor, which was also popularly called Lada, is located on a field of multidirectional solar signs. In Tver lands they were called "loach". In wedding rituals, the loach meant the continuation of the family of a young family, and in marriage, family well-being.

The amulet that our ancestors used to ward off all kinds of diseases from themselves was called Odolen-Grass. The overpowering grass is a kind of allegory of the sun, which gives its life-giving light to all creatures on earth. This sign was sometimes also called the double Fire Sign.
