Who does not know the proverb: “ To play a wedding in May means toil all your life ? Modern registries are empty at this time of the year.

Where did this come from? Why? After all, it is known that the top of summer, the June holiday of Kupala, was considered by the ancient Slavs the most favorable day for conceiving a child. If this happened, then the child was born smart, beautiful, and possessing a magical gift. Why was the "neighbor" May so unlucky?

The reason is prosaic

The prosaic reason for people preferring simple explanations is that the Slavs were an agricultural people. What's happening in May? The beginning of spring, Yarilo - the Sun only recently opened the Earth to Mother Damp with its key, the main agricultural work falls on May. The bins were already empty, there is nothing for a wedding, and there is no time. Walk the wedding, then move away from it, at a time when it is necessary to plow and sow! Why should three families - two parents and a young one - create a hungry year for themselves? And, besides, children conceived in May will be born in January-February, in the cold, dark months, full of whistling winds and the fierce onslaught of Morena - Winter. Everything is correct. At the first level, immersion in Slavic culture.

The reason is hidden

Look for a real deep reason in the ancient beliefs of the Slavs, in their ideas about the structure of the World. There are different worlds - Rule, where the Light Gods live - Creators full of new ideas, Realitywhere people and Lesser Gods live side by side (Brownies, Leshy, Mermaids, Banniki) and Nav - the dwelling place of the Dark Gods.

Everything is harmoniously connected with everything in a single circle of Life

Even the Dark Gods play a positive role, balancing the too rapid changes of the Light ones.

This is how our Slavic ancestors represented the laws of this World.

And if only the above-mentioned Gods and People existed together, it would be an ideal place, an ideal Universe of Three Worlds, just some kind of fairy tale.

But there is always something that violates the Universal Harmony. Perhaps this is the harmony of some higher order, but now we are talking about vile entities called Navies, violating the harmony of the three worlds.

Who are these Navi?

Navi, otherwise "navi" are the spirits of death. It was believed that the spirits of dead foreigners and young children who died from illness and misfortune became navias. Also, the souls of people who were punished for inappropriate behavior by the forces of nature risked becoming navi.

What happens exactly in the middle of May, on the 14th?

On May 14, the Slavs celebrate Naviy Day - a rite of resurrection and veneration of the dead. It is to Nav that the souls of people go - until the next incarnation. The souls of ancestors, light keepers exist in their own world, another dimension, contemporaries would say. It was in May that the border between the worlds became thinner, and the Slavs began rituals dedicated to ancestral memory. These are sad, but light rituals with the bringing of the treba.

“As well as Rod and Rozhanitsa steal bread and sires and honey …”. The requirements of each God are accordingly defined.

And at the same time, on the night before Navi day, Navi rise from their graves, and terrible days and nights begin. If you read the "Tale of Bygone Years" (1092), then the outbreak of an epidemic in Polotsk is attributed to the dead - navias, who rode on invisible horses through the streets.

Defenseless bride

Leaving her father's house, the bride in a white, sad dress, with a tightly closed face, says goodbye to the house and her Guardians, and goes, defenseless, to the temple, where after the wedding ceremony she will be taken under the protection of her husband's Guardians. Wedding ceremonies of the Slavs have always been accompanied by various kinds of precautions against dashing eyes and misfortune. A special nursery (equestrian) protected the newlyweds from all black penetration and witchcraft. Weddings have always been considered the most suitable occasion for such witchcraft mischief.

In this short, sacred, but extremely dangerous period of time, the entire future marriage is under threat - navis, these terrible entities, can take advantage of the situation.

And then between the previously happy bride and groom, the navy cold can settle, growing every day … And in May, these otherworldly entities are strong as never before.

But everything changes when May comes to an end. Already on the 23rd, the day of the Slavic goddess Lada is celebrated.

Lad in your family or once harmony, do you have all sk harmonybut? Does the husband call his wife Sweetheart his? LadAre children growing up well? Indeed, it becomes clear how important it is that Lada covered your home, your family, your children with an invisible warm veil?

For this, they call on the Slavic Goddess Lada, the Goddess of family happiness. This is she, the Mother of the World and the Great Children's Patroness! AND May 23 is the day when it is especially important to feel this invisible but warm cloud of love and protection.

What are Slavic Gods? We modern people are so ignorant that we think we are all-knowing, few answers. But it's just wonderful that the modern availability of information gives us what we really need - freedom in explaining the world order.

The picture of the world for each of us is a fulcrum, the very origin of coordinates from which our path begins. And you can notice with surprise and curiosity how harmonious and wise the picture of the world of the ancient Slavic people was - so wise that it looks very simple.

What did they know about the Great Power, deified in the form Lada, Goddess of family happiness?

Lada, the Mother of the World, is the one who answers prayers for easy childbirth, for prosperity in the family, for family happiness.

The one who can ask Makosh, the Goddess of Fate, to fix everything in the family.

The one who can command the wind, fire, water and earth to cope with abundance in the family.

She herself is the wife of Svarog, the happy mother of Lelya and Polel, the Gods of love and marriage, Lelya, the Goddess of Spring, Perun, the God of Justice.

Her title would be equated to the royal one - if the ancient Slavs had autocracy in honor

The time when we must invoke this Goddess to eliminate discord is late spring and all summer. This is the time of the reign of the Goddess Lada, the flowering of her power, the time when her powerful force of creation, which knows no boundaries, will sweep away everything superficial, all dark, navy cobwebs that your family union could grow.

Perhaps this is just the embodiment of the cosmic power dormant in every woman, just the strength of the spirit and the strength of the female soul.

And, perhaps, turning to the Mother of the World with a passionate desire to debug everything, we awaken an ancient force that stands up as a many-meter thick wall behind our back, ready, with a simple indication of the goal, to soar an indomitable tsunami …

Of course, the veneration of Lada left a deep mark on Slavic culture. These include the controversial interpretations of Valery Chudinov, where the inscriptions "temple of Lada" are very often found, and the upside-down cult of the Mother of God in Christianity, which replaced Vedic Slavic concepts and culture. It is interesting that on foreign maps of Tartary there is a sculpture of the "Golden Woman", which is very similar to the now familiar Mother of God, which once again confirms the substitution of Christian saints for the Vedic gods.

And here is how Georgiy Sidorov describes the temple of Lada in his art books:

Temples of Lada stood in all ancient Russian cities without exception. They were graceful, richly decorated with beautiful wooden carvings and resembled openwork pyramids resting on carved wooden columns.

In each such temple there were images of the Great Lada, made by now unknown talented Russian masters. Usually statues of the Goddess were carved out of wood and covered with fine gold. On the temples, Her images remained wooden. Sometimes, instead of them, a sign of Lada was placed on a birch segment (birch is the tree of the Goddess) - a circle with a triangle in the middle, where the acute angle is directed downward, and the base of the triangle is upward. The circle here represents the universe, and the triangle is the heart of this universe.

Only one statue of Lada was made of solid gold. This statue was located in the main temple of the Goddess, which once stood on the shores of Lake Ladoga. To decipher the name of the lake, it is enough to know the name Lada and the Old Russian word meaning the path - "ga". And it turns out that Lake Ladoga only means "the road to Lada". And in fact, the temple of the Great Lada could only be approached from the side of the lake.

From the shore, the temple complex of the Goddess was reliably covered by a huge impenetrable swamp, the paths through which only the Magi knew. Nowadays, this swamp has almost disappeared, but in ancient times it presented a serious obstacle. The Temple of the Goddess stood on the southeastern shore of the lake. And the pilgrims had to sail to his pier on boats from Staraya Ladoga. The fortress of old Ladoga was a kind of key to the temple of the Goddess, the only place from where one could get to its complex."

This goddess was revered throughout all of Ancient Russia. The ancient Slavs called Lada not only the original goddess of love, but also the whole structure of life - a way where everything should have been okay, that is, good. Therefore, the symbol of the goddess Lada herself is the most beloved tree among the people - birch. It is the Russian Birch that is considered to be the magic symbol of Russia.
