Video: Top 10 top secret military bunkers of the US government

There are many secret bunkers in the United States of America, in particular bunkers built under the Government Conservation Program (PRP). In the event of a terrorist attack, nuclear strike, or other catastrophic incident, US government leaders gather at top-secret facilities, all of which can withstand violent explosions and provide everything needed to survive for extended periods of time.
Presidential Emergency Management Operations Center
The President's Emergency Management Operations Center (PEOC) is the bunker most often mentioned in popular culture. A notorious photograph of former President George W. Bush meeting with the National Security Council following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks provides some insight into one of the most secure sites in the country.
During this disaster, former Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife and many other senior government officials (mostly cabinet members) were quickly escorted to an isolated and safe PEOC. It is believed to be located under the East Wing of the White House, the center of the executive branch and the home of the President.
Built during World War II by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, PEOC is capable of withstanding nuclear attacks and can house the president and other important members of the American government in emergencies. While the exact characteristics of PEOC are top secret, it was rumored that it serves as a liaison point with all other important PSP organizations. PEOC has been featured in blockbusters like The Fall of Olympus and Assault on the White House, as well as the Emmy-nominated TV series House of Cards.
Greek Island Project (Greenbrier)
The Greek Island Project (also known as Greenbrier) was a secret agreement between the US government and the Greenbrier (hence the name) Hotel in West Virginia in the 1950s. This magnificent hotel was intended to serve as a preservation site for the legislative branch of the American government.
The huge size of the Greenbrier allowed the bunker to accommodate two auditoriums, 470 and 130 people. Despite the size of the bunker, it took 30 years to find it. Guests and staff at the hotel were reportedly able to see many aspects of the facility, including the giant blast doors.
The fact that most of the onsite bathrooms were male (given the predominantly male composition of Congress) also created intrigue. Perhaps the owners of the hotel were previously asked questions about the complex, but they only found out about it a few years later.
Greenbrier included sleeping quarters, a medical center and the latest air filtration system, a television center, and more, fenced off by 1 meter thick concrete doors. Interestingly, the bunker was held by civil servants posing as TV specialists from a non-existent company.
The Greek Island project was eventually exposed in an article by a major national newspaper and, as a result, decommissioned. Thereafter, some of the service staff continued to work there as tour guides in the bunker. Today they are employees of the hotel. There is currently no indication of the current location of the Emergency Congress.
Raven Rock Mountain Military Complex
Hidden in Raven Rock near Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania, this complex is a military site dubbed the "Pentagon Underground." The mountain is home to a large telecom center for the US Air Force, US Army and US Navy in case of a nuclear attack.
Initially, the complex was created as an emergency shelter during the Cold War and continues to be a relocation point for the military command of the country's armed forces. However, its main occupant is the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, which uses a variety of communications and computer systems.
One hypothesis is that District 13 in The Hunger Games was modeled after the military complex at Raven Rock, as there are great similarities between the two in terms of design and general function.
Operations Center in Cheyenne Mountain
This mountain complex, located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is a large military base and nuclear bunker. It was previously the headquarters of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). NORAD is still headquartered in Colorado Springs.
The complex was built in a granite rock at a depth of 760 meters and contains many buildings with blast doors weighing 25 tons. A large number of springs were used in the construction of the facility, which could prevent any of its buildings from displacement by more than 2.5 centimeters during all types of natural disasters.
This bunker, which was originally created to enhance the defensive strategy of the Cold War, can withstand the most dangerous bombing, missile strikes and nuclear attacks. It is equipped with the most modern oxygen supply systems (to prevent radiation penetration), in addition to its own power plant and water supply system. The bunker provides almost complete (99, 999%) reliability of these systems.
Mount Weather Secret Bunker
This bunker, which is located just outside the Capitol, Virginia and covers a whopping 564 acres (over 2 square kilometers), serves as another government hideout. It is run by the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
This facility was classified until the fall of a TWA aircraft (Flight 514) in the area in December 1974. After that, it became known that the bunker of the President of the United States was hiding in Mount Weather. As the Washington Post later reported, the leadership of the Congress was brought to this bunker by helicopters after the events of September 11, 2001, the terrorist attacks in New York. Bunker information is limited and is still valid.
Deeply Situated Underground Command Center (DUCC)
This command center, which can be considered the most mysterious bunker, was a military facility proposed for construction in the early 1960s. This object, which was supposed to be located near the Pentagon at a depth of 900-1, 200 meters, was calculated to withstand explosions with a force of 200 to 300 megatons without losing structural integrity.
The DUCC was reportedly recommended to President John F. Kennedy immediately after the assassination attempt on him. The proposal described the facility as a 50-person bunker expandable to 300 people. The fate of this proposal remains unknown, although there are speculations that it was rejected after the president's death.
Federal Support Center at Olney
This center has some mystery, and that's to say the least. There is little certain information about this bunker. However, he is known to specialize in the functions of data networks. It is located west of Leightonsville, Maryland, Montgomery County, and reportedly has a large field with antennas of unknown purpose.
On the territory of this object, many secret excavations were allegedly carried out. Nothing was said about the excavations themselves or their purpose. This bunker also has strong ties to FEMA as part of its National Radio Communications System, which links all other FEMA bases.
North Bay Canadian Forces Base
The North Bay Canadian Forces Base (CBBC) is one of the very few American international bunkers. It is located in North Bay, Ontario, north of Toronto. This facility serves as the center of NORAD in Canada and is 60 stories underground.
During the Cold War, BKVS North Bay was in a precarious position between the Soviet Union and the United States, making it a dangerous site in the event of a potential conflict. To mitigate this risk, it was designed to withstand attacks that were about 267 times more powerful than the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima.
Although information about the North Bay BKVS is scarce, it is known to have a strong connection to the founding of NORAD in the late 1950s. This object is still valid.
Warrenton Training Center
The Warrenton Training Center is a top-secret communications center in Virginia. It is mainly used by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for various purposes, but it also has a bunker built as part of the PSP. The facility consists of four inconspicuous stations in Fokier and Culpeper counties.
As the name suggests, the facility is primarily a cadre school for several federal agencies, including the CIA, the National Security Agency (NSA), the State Department, and the Department of Defense. Although little is known about the use of the bunker, the facility is most definitely used by the NSA, the Department of Defense, and the State Department in emergencies.
Selfridge Air Force Base Radar
This facility, which serves as the US Air Force Survey RS, began operations in Michigan in 1959. The station is known to have at its disposal several state-of-the-art radar systems with revolutionary detection capabilities and the ability to coordinate multiple launches of surface-to-air missiles and an anti-missile bunker.
In 1960, the Land Forces Air Defense Command Post (AADCP) was built to launch surface-to-air missiles as part of the Nike project. It was a complex system of facilities and weapons during the Cold War. However, AADCP was eventually closed.
The radar is now home to the US Marine Corps' reserve unit, and the bunker has been converted into an air traffic control center. Since the exact procedures are top secret (a common occurrence in American bunkers), little is known about whether the base is operational.
