CIA agent confession: we were given millions to dismember Yugoslavia

The WebTribune publishes their interview with former CIA agent Robert Baer during his promotional trip to Quebec to promote the forthcoming book "Secrets of the White House" last week.

My boss, who was a former US senator, often stressed that some kind of fraud was going to happen in Bosnia. A month before the alleged genocide in Srebrenica, he told me that this city would be in the headlines of world news, and ordered us to collect the media

Robert Baer, a former CIA officer, has written numerous books that reveal the secrets of the CIA and the administrations of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. He was arrested and detained several times. Mitt Wasper, a personal friend who worked in the Senate and shared information, was killed at gunpoint. As a senior CIA agent, Baer worked in Yugoslavia from 1991-94. and in the Middle East. He has been involved in several documentaries for National Geographic, accusing the Bush administration of waging a war for oil.

The interview was conducted live in Canada during my trip a few days ago. Robert Baer is currently advertising his book "Secrets of the White House" in Quebec, where we talked. In an interview, he spoke about the background of the war in Yugoslavia.

Where and when was your first job in Yugoslavia?

I flew in by helicopter with three agents. We landed on January 12, 1991 in Sarajevo. Our task was to keep an eye on the alleged Serb terrorists who were expected to attack Sarajevo.

Who were these terrorists and why did they have to carry out these attacks?

We were given documents on a group called "Greater Serbia" detailing plans to carry out bomb attacks against important buildings in Sarajevo to counter Bosnia's intention to secede from the former Yugoslavia.

Did this group even exist and what exactly did you do in Sarajevo under the leadership of the CIA?

Such a group has never existed! Our bosses lied to us. Our task was to raise the alarm and spread panic among the politicians in Bosnia, just to instill in them the idea that the Serbs were going to attack. At first we accepted this story, but after a while we started asking questions. Why were we fanning this kind of hysteria if the group clearly didn't exist?

How and when did this operation end and did it have a name?

For me it ended in two weeks, I got a new job in Slovenia. The operation lasted a month and was called "Istina" (ie, "truth"), although it was anything but the truth!

Why did you go to Slovenia?

I received instructions that Slovenia is ready to declare independence. We were given money, several million dollars, to fund various NGOs, opposition parties and various politicians who incited hatred.

Did you have an opinion about CIA propaganda and what did your colleagues think?

Of course, no one turns down a CIA assignment, especially when we were all nervous and prone to paranoia! Many CIA agents and senior officers simply disappeared because they refused to conduct propaganda against Serbs in Yugoslavia. I was personally shocked by the amount of lies fed by our agencies and politicians! Many CIA agents ran propaganda without understanding what they were doing. Everyone knew only a part of history, and only those who create the whole history knew the background - the politicians.

That is, the propaganda was only against the Serbs?

Yes and no. The purpose of the propaganda was to divide the republics so that they would break away from the homeland of Yugoslavia. We had to choose a scapegoat to blame. Someone responsible for the war and violence. Serbia was chosen because, to a certain extent, it is the successor to Yugoslavia.

Can you name the politicians in the former Yugoslavia who were paid by the CIA?

Yes, although it is somewhat sensitive. They paid Stipe Mesic, Franjo Tudjman, Alia Izetbegovic, many consultants and members of the Yugoslav government, as well as Serbian generals, journalists and even some military units. Radovan Karadzic was paid for a while, but stopped accepting help when he realized that he would be sacrificed and charged with war crimes committed in Bosnia. This was directed by the American administration.

You mentioned that the media were controlled and funded, how exactly did this happen?

It is already known that some CIA agents were responsible for writing an official statement, which the anchors read on the news. Of course, the news anchors did not know this, they received news from their superiors, and they received it from our man. They all had the same mission: to spread hatred, nationalism and differences between people through television.

We all know about Srebrenica, can you say something about that?

Yes! In 1992 I was again in Bosnia, but this time we had to train military units to represent Bosnia, a new state that had just declared independence. Srebrenica is a hyped story and, unfortunately, many people are manipulated. The victims include Serbs and others killed, but Srebrenica is political marketing. My boss, who was a former US Senator, has repeatedly stressed that some kind of fraud will take place in Bosnia. A month before the alleged genocide in Srebrenica, he told me that this city would be in the headlines of world news, and ordered us to collect the media. When I asked why, he said - you will see. The new Bosnian army was ordered to attack homes and civilians. These were, of course, the inhabitants of Srebrenica. At the same time, the Serbs attacked from the other side. Probably someone paid to set them on!

Then who is responsible for the genocide in Srebrenica?

In Srebrenica, the Bosnians, Serbs and Americans are to be blamed - that is, us! But in fact, the Serbs were blamed for everything. Unfortunately, many of the victims buried as Muslims were Serbs and other nationalities. Several years ago, a friend of mine, a former CIA agent now at the IMF, said that Srebrenica was the result of an agreement between the US government and politicians in Bosnia. The city of Srebrenica was donated to give America a reason to attack Serbs for their alleged crimes.

Ultimately, why do you think Yugoslavia collapsed and why did your government want to do it? This is very clear, the people who incited the war and dictated the terms of the peace now own companies that benefit from various mineral resources and the like! They just made slaves out of you, your people work for free, and these products go to Germany and America … they are the winners! Over time, you will have to buy and import what you yourself have created, and since you have no money, you will have to borrow it, and this is the whole story of all the Balkans!

You have never been to Kosovo as a CIA agent, but have you felt the pressure from America? Certainly! Kosovo was invaded for two reasons, firstly, because of mineral and natural resources, and secondly, Kosovo is a NATO military base! Their largest military base is located in the heart of Europe.

Do you have a message for the peoples of the former Yugoslavia?

Yes, I have. Forget about the past, it was faked and faked. They manipulated you, they got what they wanted, and it's stupid that you still hate each other, you have to show that you are stronger, and you will understand who created it! I sincerely apologize! This is why I have been disclosing the secrets of the CIA and the White House for a long time!
