Forced assimilation did not become a ghost from the distant colonial past. Now it has become one of the methods of external management used to control the population of the region of influence.

Forced assimilation is the forced imposition by the dominant group of its culture on any other ethnic group. This is, so to speak, a "radical form" of cultural expansion. It presupposes the complete disappearance of an ethnic minority from the life of society through its separation, expulsion or destruction with the gradual assimilation by the remaining population of a culture that was previously alien to it, rejection of its own language and faith.

As methods of forced assimilation for the enslaved population, the new "masters" use: alcoholization; promotion of drug use and tobacco smoking; sexual perversion and childbearing restrictions; limiting the scope of the national language with its subsequent complete withdrawal from circulation; the introduction of the written language and religion of the conquerors; eradication of national traditions (ban on celebrating national holidays, performing rituals or replacing them with others); the planting of activities unusual for the people, etc.

Such a policy deforms morality, the value system, breaks the resistance of the assimilated people. As a rule, small ethnic and cultural groups with a lower social and political status are most susceptible to assimilation. However, a relatively large ethnic group, which also has a developed self-awareness, is quite difficult to assimilate (without additional violent processing).

In this sense, the failure of the Turkish authorities' attempt to forcibly assimilate the Kurdish minority, numbering at least 7 million people within Turkey (according to other sources - 18 million) and possessing a powerful political organization - the Kurdish Labor Party, is understandable.

At the same time, examples of successful forced assimilation are common. During the centuries-old "Dracht on Ost" the Germans seized the lands of the Western Slavs. Even the name of the capital of Germany, Berlin, can still not be translated into Russian. The population of East Germany is the descendants of Slavic women who converted to Christianity and gave birth to children from the conquerors. Outwardly, the descendants of the conquerors cannot be distinguished from us, however, the psyche and language are already alien to us.

Apparently as a punishment for everything that was done to other peoples, the history of the Germans also conducted an experiment. This story took place in the 20th century in Brazil. Where in the thirties of the last century lived about 10 million Germans. or as the "Teuto-Brazilians" called them.

At first, everything went according to a private plan. The German community has settled down thoroughly in the south of Brazil. Here, cities, villages, and communities, virtually closed from external influence, arose, in which everything was in German. According to historians, the Germans "built a wall against the rest of Brazilian society." They had their own schools, newspapers, radio. During the outbreak of the Second World War, remembering how the Germans were developing new territories, fearing their possible subsequent secession or violence against the indigenous population, the country's government was the first to take the most severe measures.

The descendants of German immigrants were banned from everything related to the German language. Any communication in German is prohibited, in all places, both in private and at home! It is forbidden to have a radio at home, they were arrested for listening to German broadcasts. German schools were closed or converted into Brazilian schools.

It was also forbidden to receive books in German from abroad and to read them in Brazil. Even letters in this language in both directions until the 50s of the last century could not be sent. For violation, punishment from a fine to prison was imposed. National clubs, sports societies, charitable organizations were closed. Children who moved from German to Brazilian schools were particularly affected. Great support of the state in this activity was provided by the so-called "integralists" - the movement for the unification of the nation.

The movement, despite the parallels visible to the naked eye with the Nazis of other countries, nevertheless differed from them to the extent of the specifics of Brazilian society: Negroes, Japanese, mulattoes and mestizos participated in it. As a greeting, they used the Tupi greeting "Anaue!" (You are my brother).

The Germans themselves also took part in the movement. Such people were called deutschfresser (eater of the Germans). The peak of the persecution came in 1942-43, when police raids were carried out to identify places where German was spoken. Streets were renamed, and those who spoke Portuguese with a German accent were called "alemão batata" (a German potato eater who even eats cheese and chips). For this generation of Brazilian Germans, the taboo was so strong that after the abolition of formal restrictions, most of them never returned to the language of their predecessors.

Twenty years of restrictions have forced Brazilian Germans to become Brazilians. They were, in modern terms, "formatted" anew …

But even after that, the Germans were not left alone …

Millions of refugees poured into Germany at the command of the United States will be used to "reformat" Germany itself. Perhaps this is their retribution for past sins, but somehow they become uncomfortable from this perspective …
