Fragments of fossil lizards was brought from the South Urals by the USMU expedition.

The vertebrae, bones and even flippers of ancient sea lizards were found by students of the Mining University on their next geological expedition. In search of valuable exhibits, they explored the entire South Urals.

One of the most unique of them is the flipper of the ancient plesiosaur sea lizard. “These are lizards who have returned to the water element. Instead of paws, they had fins, and we managed to collect fragments of such a flipper,”explains the head of the expedition, director of the Ural Geological Museum of the Mining University, Dmitry Kleymenov.

Fragments of petrified belemnites - the ancestors of ancient squids - in the old days people ground their remains into powder. It was used as an antibiotic and was even sprinkled on wounds to heal.
