Advice from the teaching staff of V. A. Sukhomlinsky for senior students concerning very important areas of the spiritual life of a student - reading, thinking, solving mental problems. They remain relevant to this day, not only for the student, but also for every adult.

1. If you want to have enough time, read daily. Read at least two pages of scientific literature every day related to the subject you are passionate about. Everything you read is the intellectual background of your teaching. The richer this background, the easier it is to learn. Force yourself to read daily. Don't put it off until tomorrow. What is missed today, never make up tomorrow.

2. Learn to listen to the teacher. Give lectures on important topics. Taking notes teaches you to think and test yourself - your knowledge. Divide the summary into two headings: - a brief lecture and what you need to think about. This frame of the object will be a kind of program on the basis of which all information is recalled.

3. Start your work day early in the morning, at 6 o'clock. Get up at 5:30, exercise, drink milk and start working. 1, 5-2 hours of mental work before lessons is a golden time. Do the most difficult, creative work in the morning. Make up your daily routine so that you sleep at least 2 hours to twelve. This is the most healing dream.

4. Know how to define the system of mental work, correlate the main and the secondary. The main thing is to distribute so that it is not relegated to the background as secondary. The main thing must be done daily.

5. Know how to create yourself internal incentives. Often the only motivating incentive is just the need. Start your mental work just from this uninteresting one. Learn to concentrate so much that "must" gradually turns into "I want." Leave the most interesting at the end of the work.

6. You have to be very strict in the choice of books and magazines to read. An inquisitive person wants to read everything. But this is unreal. Be able to limit the range of reading, excluding from it that which can disrupt the working regime. But at the same time, be prepared to read an unplanned book.

7. Know how to say to yourself: no. Be Determined: Many of these activities contain temptations that are detrimental to the activity.

8. Do not waste time in idle chatter, idle pastime. Know how to make conversation with your comrades a source of your spiritual enrichment.

9. Learn to facilitate your mental work in the future. To do this, you need to get used to notebooks designed to write down vivid thoughts, interesting from what you read. All this will come in handy in the future.

10. Avoid stencil and template. Take the time to deeply comprehend the essence of the facts, phenomena with which you are dealing. The deeper you think about it, the more firmly it will be deposited in your memory. Know how not to re-read, but only to look through what you know well. Beware of cursory glimpse of what has not yet been comprehended. Any superficiality will result in you being forced to return to individual facts many times.

11. During the hours of concentrated mental work, everyone must work completely independently.

12. Mental work requires an alternation of mathematical and artistic thinking.

13. Get rid of bad habits (before work began to sit for about 15 minutes; without any need whatsoever to leaf through a book that you are not going to read, lie in bed, etc.)

14. Tomorrow is the most dangerous enemy of hard work. Never put off until tomorrow some part of the work that needs to be done today. Make it a habit that some of tomorrow's work is done today. This will be the inner stimulus that sets the tone for the whole future.
