About three years before the night of January 6-7, 1152, a supernova exploded in the constellation Taurus. Today this explosion is known as the Crab Nebula in the constellation Taurus. After the overthrow of Andronicus from the throne of Byzantium, Maria returned to the Crimea, where she lived in a monastery until her death.

Today, the place of Mary's death has also been established. This is the Crimean city of Chufut-Kale, where an ancient cemetery has been preserved, apparently of her relatives. Mary herself is not there. Her burial is in St. Petersburg. The Romanovs hid it under the shadow of the Kazan Cathedral on Nevsky Prospect.
