Since ancient times in Russia, the word porridge meant exactly a hemp dish. Over time, this culture gradually left the traditional diet - it was replaced by buckwheat, millet, oats and other cereals. In an earlier historical period, hemp seeds were perhaps the only available food source for the general public.

Wild hemp grew in vast areas and could be easily harvested without farming. In the excavations of ancient settlements, archaeologists often find tools for processing hemp and its seeds. Hemp fiber was used to weave a material that was used in tailoring and making household items. Hemp fiber is very resistant to moisture and, until the advent of synthetic technologies, all kinds of marine ropes were made from it.

In short, hemp is a valuable culture in many ways. Today, few people know the taste of hemp porridge, but this forgotten dish is gradually returning to the people. Already more and more often hemp groats can be found on supermarket shelves. Hemp seed is of particular value now, in the conditions of the almost complete absence of organic food. The dominance of genetically modified products has already taken on a global character.

Producers of pure products have been pushed out of the market by unrivaled mutants. No one has modified cannabis yet, it was created by nature brilliantly. This plant is very resistant to adverse factors and insects. The only "enemy" of a man who grows hemp seeds are birds, but the seeds are so carefully hidden in the inflorescences that most of them still remain untouched.

The problem of "clean" nutrition is especially acute among children. Their body is especially sensitive to all sorts of gene insertions, so hemp porridge is a very important nutrient for them. Do not be afraid for the health of the child - hemp grain does not contain canabinol, but it contains many rare and healthy fats and microelements that are necessary not only for children, but also for adults. In addition to all this, hemp porridge is very tasty and, most likely, is one of the main products that are ideal for humans, sent by nature itself.

Until 1961, at least a quarter of all sown areas were sown with hemp annually, and hemp oil is the original vegetable oil for the Northern Slavs.

Hemp seeds contain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid, which reduces blood cholesterol levels, the risk of atherosclerosis, vascular congestion and heart disease. It also contains fiber, which is necessary for the successful functioning of the gastrointestinal tract and improving its motility, removing toxins from the body.

Hemp seeds are rich in useful micro- and macroelements: zinc, iron, calcium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, sulfur. Hemp is a source of rare and very important elements: meso-inositol ifitin. Meso-inositol, also called vitamin B8, is necessary for carbohydrate metabolism, participates in the metabolism of purines, in the biosynthesis of important elements and regulates the level of cholesterol in the blood. Phytin is a vitamin-like element with a valuable effect - the prevention of fatty liver with a lack of protein foods in the diet.

Hemp seed is the main complete source of this element. In addition, hemp seeds contain pectins that protect the mucous membrane of the stomach and intestines, neutralize putrefactive bacteria and restore the natural microflora.

Hemp porridge allows you to normalize sleep, improve appetite, lower blood sugar, increase activity and brain activity, and reduce the risk of nervous diseases.

Cooking hemp porridge is very simple. Before cooking, hemp groats must be soaked for several hours in cold water. This preparatory procedure significantly shortens the cooking time of porridge, and, consequently, reduces the destructive effect of heat treatment on the vitamin range. For this, approximately 2 glasses of water are taken in a glass of cereal. To avoid moisture evaporation, cover the soaked cereal with a lid.

You can soak directly in a cauldron or an enamel pan in which the porridge will be cooked. The dishes with cereals and water are put on a slow fire and stirred from time to time. As soon as the hemp has completely absorbed moisture and becomes crumbly, the porridge is ready. If the cereal is damp, you can add a little boiling water to the porridge and keep it on the fire for a few more minutes until it is completely cooked.

As you know, you can't spoil porridge with butter, but hemp seed itself is oily, and you need to remember this when adding butter or vegetable oil. This is usually a tablespoon per serving.

There is another original recipe for making hemp. To prepare such porridge, the seeds are fried and ground into flour. Pour crushed hemp seeds into boiling water, stirring until a sour cream consistency is obtained. Then add onion gruel, salt and pepper. In a few minutes, the porridge is ready. Let it brew for some time so that it lags behind the walls of the cauldron. They eat such porridge with uniforms of potatoes, sour cream and herbs.
