The generally accepted "folk" version says that this phraseological unit was used mainly when it was impossible to say in plain text "I will not say where." So, for example, asking a hunter where he goes to hunt was forbidden. According to legend, it was impossible to reveal their hunting places, otherwise there would be no luck. The proverb “don’t screw up, there will be no happiness” is also connected with this. The very same belief is also associated with the consonance of the word "kuda" with the words "kud" (evil spirit), "kudesit" (conjure).

If we talk about the time of origin of this expression, then it goes back centuries, which gives an answer to shyness: many of our ancient traditions of order during the spread of Christianity acquired a negative connotation.

In the pre-Christian period, many of our compatriots had a fairly high degree of understanding of the world, not to mention literacy. On the basis of the most powerful Vedic knowledge, people for the most part freely controlled their fate, since the power of the spirit and the integrity of the worldview and worldview gave them the opportunity to quickly and easily solve their problems themselves. They could only praise the Creator and the Ancestors for the abilities given to them. The outbreak of religious schisms brought confusion to the minds of people and led to the emergence of people with an unstable psyche, a weak will, fueled by the ideology of humility.

Such people had to turn for help to the elders of the clans, sorcerers or sorcerers who performed their rituals in the temples.

As you know, temples and other sacred places of our Ancestors were in a forest or on a hill (mountain). This mountain could also be artificial (it could have been piled up - poured), but still the element of elevation (approach) to the Heavenly Father always took place. Our grandfathers in ancient times already understood that everything around was created to help a person, therefore, according to the principle of direct and feedback, the person himself had to take care of the world around him. A self-confident person came to the elevation (hence the lofty feelings) in order to repay, and an insecure person went to ask for help with determining the path (where to go?). Having ascended the hill, they loudly uttered their desire, which was sure to come true.

In many elevated places (oracles), one-domed buildings with a rounded roof began to be erected, in which Kuda messengers (Magicians) settled, who could help a person gain confidence and, with their powerful spirit, could help their weakened fellow tribesmen in solving their pressing issues.

It has long been believed that a man was originally called upon to possess a powerful spirit so that he could pass on the images of the Spirit and Blood to his offspring without harm to his health, instill in his children the Spirit of his Family. For the same reason, a man could not publicly sign his lack of strength and reveal his insecurity even to those close to him. Such people used the services of Kudykina Gora secretly, so as not to drop their authority. Currently, many people no longer remember the true meaning of this mountain, but unconsciously they can answer the question "Where?" in accordance with the ancestral memory.

In some holiday rituals that have come down to our times since time immemorial, there is an element of throwing objects over the shoulder to determine where the betrothed will come from, etc. This ritual in the old days was called "Kudy kinu" and was used in many fortune-telling (guessing). It is possible that similar elements of fortune-telling were present on Kudykina Gora.

One can consider Kudykina Mountain as a mythical place where everyone who came could get answers to their questions. Or you can turn to the chronicles and find that in 1637 there was a Kudykinskaya volost, the center of which was the village of Kudykino. Later she became part of the Orekhovo-Zuevsky district. And now a place called Kudykina Gora really exists in the Orekhovo-Zuevsky district of the Moscow region and represents two villages at once - Kudykino and Gora, however, located very close to each other. And now tourists love to drop in there: it’s painfully interesting for them to look at the place to which so many people have been walking for a long time …
