Instead of the joy of motherhood as a meaningful process of realizing one of the main missions of a woman, the viewer is invited to laugh at primitive jokes in the style of TNT serials.
At the end of 2015, STS TV channel aired a new series "Mom". In the center of the plot are three friends, two of whom already have children, and the third is in the active search for her future husband and every episode tries to build relationships with a new man. Despite the fact that the film, at first glance, is devoted to such an important and relevant family topic, instead of showing the viewer the correct examples and images of parenting, it discredits the idea of motherhood and the family in general to a much greater extent. This is achieved in the following way.
First of all, there is practically no talk about the upbringing and growing up of children in the film. Children are present here, rather, as decorations, which by their existence leave an imprint on the personal life of young mothers, to which almost the entire plot is devoted. It is quite symbolic that the child was replaced with a pillow on the main poster. As a result, the viewer sees a mostly negative and unprincipled picture of endless worries and troubles associated with motherhood, but devoid of any expediency. Let's take as an example a selection of excerpts from only one of the first series. And if for many already established mothers these scenes can be interesting and pleasant, since they are automatically colored by their own joyful emotions and memories of similar situations with their children, then in an unmarried girl these moments will in most cases cause rejection and negative reactions. Indeed, in the film it is absolutely not shown what all the efforts are for. Many other things also migrated from TNT products to this film. For example, if in the Interns one of the main characters was a venereologist, which served as a reason for endless obscenities on this very non-public topic, then here one of her friends is an andrologist, and numerous episodes found in almost every episode are also devoted to the peculiarities of her profession.
The series has a lot in common with TNT content and the abundance of scenes with alcohol consumption. Considering that the plot is dedicated to young mothers, the obligatory presence in each episode of at least two or three scenes with alcoholic products looks especially cynical and despicable. At the same time, the pronounced consistency in the presentation of such information leaves no doubt that the propaganda of alcohol is of a deliberate and clearly ordered character. And this is how the image of the husband and the head of the family is shown in the film. In addition to the henpecked man, there are two more types of men: a cheater, who, however, seems to have sincerely repented in subsequent episodes; and a random male, or rather, an endless series of males with oddities that come across our unmarried heroine. At the same time, the heroine herself, due to her pathological passion for lies and very free morals, deserves such an attitude towards herself.
To summarize, Mommy's film aims to:
- the formation of a negative image of motherhood
- propaganda of vulgarity
- alcohol promotion
- discrediting the image of the father
