Starting in the mid-2000s, work on the creation of Russian "hardware", the domestic developer MCST since 2012, one after another, has been creating modern processors of the Elbrus family. From simple single-core to 8-core and multiprocessor systems. Gradually, the lost nearly one and a half decades of development have been made up, and today "Russian iron" looks quite competitive. No matter how shitty critics may shout, MCST actually makes its products more and more serious from year to year. And now the long-awaited entry into the commercial market has begun.

The first products available for ordering were the personal computer AWP Elbrus-401 and the Elbrus 4.4 server. Both cars at the end of March 2015 first appeared "in public" at an exhibition in Moscow, where they were highly praised by experts.

Server Elbrus 4.4 is a "classic" rack-mount solution based on a bundle of 4 Elbrus-4C processors with a total performance of 200 Gflops. The server supports up to 384 GB of DDR3 RAM - 48 gigabytes of "RAM" are included in the basic configuration. The solution allows you to organize import substitution at enterprises where servers based on American processors and other hardware are used.

In addition, the developers talk about full support for hardware and software binary translation of Intel x86 and Intel x86-64 codes into codes for execution on a processor with the Elbrus architecture. Supports end-to-end execution of more than 1000 popular programs written for Intel processors and run more than 20 operating systems, including Windows XP, Linux, QNX on Elbrus processors.

AWP Elbrus-401 is a high-performance desktop for offices and enterprises, a ready-made solution with installed software. It is based on its own operating system based on Linux, but initially it is also provided for work in the Windows environment. Inside the mini-tower case there is a Russian motherboard in the usual micro-ATX form factor with a 4-core Elbrus-4C processor with a base 12 GB of DDR3 RAM and a foreign-made 500 GB SATA hard drive.

If you wish, you can increase the amount of RAM up to 96 gigabytes (the maximum size supported by the board). Before us is practically the first serial and fully functional personal computer based on Russian hardware …

The last obstacles on the way to the consumer market remain: the high price of the first series of Russian "hardware" and the absence of a trade and retail system of the manufacturer or dealers. At the same time, everything is just beginning, and after deliveries to legal entities (namely, they still have an order on the developer's website) of the first serious batches, our manufacturers will reach the mass sector.
