The story of the epiphany of the writer and public figure David Duke, who, while still a schoolboy, accidentally stumbled upon the truth about the creators of communism, voluntarily working in the office of a public organization.

Often after school and on rainy summer days, I used to go down to the organization's office on Carondole Street in New Orleans to volunteer (as a volunteer). A host of exciting publications flocked to the office from hundreds of regional right-wing organizations across America.

Once, when I was just finishing helping with the analysis of mail coming to the address of the Council, I came across several tabloid newspapers of the right wing called Common Sense. It was a conservative newspaper, modeled after Thomas Paine's leaflets; but the content was drastically different from what was usually found in Payne's leaflets.

One of the headlines of the issue read: "Communism is the brainchild of the Jews!" … I also found some old issues of this edition. A huge headline in one of them predicted: "Red dictatorship by 1954!" However, this warning did not seem all that convincing and plausible when read about it in 1965! I found headlines like "National Questionnaire" ridiculous, but it was hard to refrain from reading something scandalous, even just so that you could laugh at it.

Harsh words by Mattie Smith

One of the regular volunteers, Mattie Smith, an elderly lady in a flowered dress and a ridiculous hat, saw me as I giggled at these sensational headlines and said quite calmly and simply: "I know this is true."

- Red dictatorship by 1954? - I answered with a smile.

“No,” she said. - Communism is a Jewish brainchild. They are the ones behind this.

I thought I could please the old lady by arguing with her a little politely.

- Ma'am, how can this be? I asked. - Communists are atheists, they don't believe in God. Jews believe in God, so how can they be communists?

- Do you know who Herbert Apteker is? She asked, answering a question with a question.

“No,” I replied, pretending to be indifferent. She was like a tightly coiled spring, ready to straighten at any moment.

- He had the official post of the chief theoretician of the US Communist Party, and his name can be found in the directory Who's Who in World Jewry. [5] Leon Trotsky, who together with Lenin seized power in Russia, was listed in the reference book "Who's Who in American Jewry" [6]. His real name is Lev Bronstein. Both are communist atheists, and both are proudly featured as great Jews in these reference books published by the world's leading rabbinical organizations.

I briefly suggested that perhaps they were given in these reference books, since they were Jews.

“There is so much you need to learn,” she said with a sigh. - Under Israel's law of return, you can be an atheist communist, and still be eligible to immigrate to Israel only if you are a Jew, and a Jew is simply described as being of Jewish origin. Thus, you can be a Jew, and nevertheless remain an atheist and a communist - so I say that communism is the brainchild of Jews!

- Are all Jews communists? I retorted sarcastically.

“No, no, no,” she answered with great patience and very expressively, which was manifested in the way she stressed these words. - Of course, not all Jews are communists, no more than all snakes are poisonous. But, most of the leading communist leaders in America are Jews, as are most convicted Russian spies in America, and most of the leaders of the New Left movement are also Jews. And from history it is known that most of the revolutionary emissaries in Russia were also Jews.

What Mrs. Smith said left me confused. Although it was not yet time to leave, I announced that I needed to catch the bus to get home. I hurriedly left the office. Mrs. Smith should have been wrong, but I just didn't have enough facts at my disposal to challenge her arguments. I made a firm decision to study this issue in detail so that I could prove to her why she is wrong.

Something else bothered me, as I felt somewhat guilty for simply discussing these issues with people who dare to say such unpleasant things about Jews.

I was a staunch anti-communistso it was such a terrible revelation to me to suggest that it was the Jews who were behind it that my heart told me it couldn't possibly be true. For the first time, I came face to face with a man who I assumed was an anti-Semite. Soon I was already running down the street in order to catch my bus.

For the next few days, I avoided even thinking about the matter, and stayed away from the Citizens Council office. In the end, I read two copies of Common Sense that I took home. One claimed that the NAACP was a leading communist organization dedicated to the ultimate subversion of our way of life.

From what I read, I learned that 12 Jews and one Negrofounded the NAACP, and all of these founders were staunch Marxists, and for several decades were members of the Communist Party. This article has argued that the only black man is the founder of the NAACP, W. E. B. Dubois, was an openly recognized member of the Communist Party who emigrated to Communist Ghana (where he was eventually buried).

Moreover, this controversial publication implied that the NAACP funded by Jewish money, and even had a Jewish president. It stated that the Jew Kiwi Kaplan was the current president of the NAACP and that he was the de facto leader of the organization, not the negro Roy Wilkins, who was president only for a diversion (a dummy figure). Although Wilkins was perceived by the public as the leader of the NAACP, the article argued that, in fact, he held the lower post of National Secretary.

The common sense argument was that Jews led and supported the NAACP's integration efforts in every way, including financially, as the organization opposed powerful black nationalist leaders such as Marcus Garvey and later movement as the "People of Islam". Jews were not interested in Negroes becoming self-confident or independent. The article argued that the leaders of the Jewish world were interested in racial pluralism only because it gave certain advantages to the Jewish ethnic group.

Another copy of Common Sense contained equally startling information. It had a lengthy article claiming that international communism was a Jewish brainchild, and that the Russian revolution, in essence, was not Russian at all. Jews allegedly funded and directed the communist movement from its inception, in addition, Jews completely dominated the US Communist movement. The National Questionnaire, a right-wing publication, lists many names, dates, and sources of information to document these incredible claims.

I was very skeptical about their claims, but the information was too irrefutable to simply ignore. I learned, sooner or later, to easily discard unpopular opinions. Despite the strong documentary evidence provided in the article, they seemed to me completely eccentric to be true.

How could it happen that the largest and most powerful Negro organization in America was created, financed, and even run by Jews, and moreover, by Marxist Jews, and not by Negroes? How could such an incredible fact be hidden from most people for so long?

If the Russian Revolution was indeed a revolution led by Jews and not Russian Marxists, then how could this extremely important historical fact be ignored for so long in our history books and our popular media?

Moreover, I could not understand why the wealthy and influential Jews contributed to racial mixing and the spread of communist ideology?

My father often told me about the atrocities of the Communists, and I have been an absolute anti-communist from the moment I read books like Conservative Conscience by Barry Goldwater [7], No One Dares to Call It Cheating by John A. Stormer [8] and You Can Trust Communists (Be a Communist)”[9] by Frederick Charles Schwartz. These and other similar books convinced me of the penetration of communist ideology into our society, media and government.

The Cuban Missile Crisis had broken out only three years earlier, and my father's plans to build a bomb shelter to protect against possible fallout are still fresh in my mind. He even bought food and other supplies for survival. At that time, the idea of nuclear war moved from the category of abstract ideas to the category of real preparation for it …

In one of the issues of the newspaper Common Sense, there was mention of an article by Winston Churchill in the volume of a full spread, which was called: "Zionism against Bolshevism: The Struggle for the Soul of the Jewish People".

The article first appeared in the illustrated edition of the Sandy Herald on February 8, 1920. Churchill argued that world Jewry was torn between loyalty to communism on the one hand and loyalty to Zionism on the other. Churchill hoped that Jews would accept Zionism as an alternative to what he called "devilish" or "sinister" Bolshevism.

In a well-written article that appeared in the early years of the Russian Revolution, Churchill described communism as "Sinister confederation of world Jews", who "grabbed the Russian people by the hair and became practically masters of their huge empire." [10]

"There is no need to exaggerate the role that these world and, for the most part, atheistic Jews played in the creation of Bolshevism and in the actual implementation of the Russian revolution …"

One of the Common Sense articles I read was one of the bomb-like documents retrieved from the US National Archives (complete with file numbers).

I wrote a letter to my home state Congressman, F. Edward Gebert, asking if his office could get me copies of these files. A couple of weeks later, on my way home from school, I found myself waiting for a large Manila brown paper envelope from our congressman. Documents certified by the seal of the United States of America were obtained from the National Archives.

They referred to intelligence reports received from foreign governments and extensive (detailed) reports from senior intelligence officers in Russia during the Civil War in the early days after the Communist Revolution.

The early 1920s were not yet the time when the OSS and the Central Intelligence Agency emerged. The US Army was doing the work that the Foreign Intelligence Service does today.

One of our military intelligence officers in Russia during this revolutionary period was Captain Montgomery Schuyler. He sent regular reports to the chief of US Military Intelligence, who then sent them to the Secretary of War and the President of the United States.

Reading these long, verbose accounts has given me some glimpse of a historical period of time that very few Americans have any idea about. They reported on the horrific facts of the massacre of thousands of Russian aristocrats and intellectuals who were killed just because they could effectively lead the opposition to the communists.

Many Americans are aware, at least to some extent, of the fact that over 20 million people were killed during Stalin's time. However, many millions of people also died in the early days of the Bolshevik regime, which was led by Lenin and Trotsky, as it was these people who initiated the first massacres and the creation of concentration camps (GULAG).

The reports also reported, without any ambiguity, about the Jewish nature of the revolution. In one of Schuyler's official reports, declassified in 1958, almost 50 years after he compiled and sent these reports, he stated: [12]

"It is probably unwise to talk about it loudly in the United States, but the Bolshevik movement, from its very beginning until the present time, was directed and controlled by Russian Jews of the dirtiest type …"

In fact, it turned out that the masses of peasants, having experienced all the hardships of Soviet economic policy (the fight against wealthy peasants and private property, the creation of collective farms, etc.), flocked to the cities in search of a better life. This, in turn, created there an acute shortage of free real estate, which is so necessary for the placement of the main support of power - the proletariat.

It was the workers who became the bulk of the population, which from the end of 1932 began to actively issue passports. The peasantry (with rare exceptions) did not have the right to them (until 1974!).

Along with the introduction of the passport system in large cities of the country, a cleanup was carried out from "illegal immigrants" who did not have documents, and therefore the right to be there. In addition to the peasants, all kinds of "anti-Soviet" and "declassed elements" were detained. These included speculators, vagabonds, beggars, beggars, prostitutes, former priests and other categories of the population not engaged in socially useful labor. Their property (if any) was requisitioned, and they themselves were sent to special settlements in Siberia, where they could work for the good of the state.

The country's leadership believed that it was killing two birds with one stone. On the one hand, it cleans the cities of alien and hostile elements, on the other hand, it populates the almost deserted Siberia.

The police officers and the OGPU state security service carried out passport raids so zealously that, without ceremony, they detained on the street even those who received passports, but did not have them in their hands at the time of the check. Among the "violators" could be a student on his way to visit relatives, or a bus driver who left home for cigarettes. Even the head of one of the Moscow police departments and both sons of the prosecutor of the city of Tomsk were arrested. The father managed to quickly rescue them, but not all of those taken by mistake had high-ranking relatives.

The "violators of the passport regime" were not satisfied with thorough checks. Almost immediately they were found guilty and prepared to be sent to labor settlements in the east of the country. A special tragedy of the situation was added by the fact that recidivist criminals who were subject to deportation in connection with the unloading of places of detention in the European part of the USSR were also sent to Siberia.

Death Isle

The sad story of one of the first parties of these forced migrants, known as the Nazinskaya tragedy, has become widely known.

More than six thousand people were disembarked in May 1933 from barges on a small deserted island on the Ob River near the village of Nazino in Siberia. It was supposed to become their temporary refuge while the issues with their new permanent residence in special settlements were being resolved, since they were not ready to accept such a large number of repressed.

The people were dressed in what the police had detained them in on the streets of Moscow and Leningrad (St. Petersburg). They did not have bedding or any tools to make a temporary home for themselves.

On the second day, the wind picked up, and then frost hit, which was soon replaced by rain. Defenseless against the vagaries of nature, the repressed could only sit in front of fires or wander around the island in search of bark and moss - no one took care of food for them. Only on the fourth day they were brought rye flour, which was distributed at several hundred grams per person. Having received these crumbs, people ran to the river, where they made flour in hats, footcloths, jackets and trousers in order to quickly eat this semblance of porridge.

The number of deaths among the special settlers was rapidly going into the hundreds. Hungry and frozen, they either fell asleep right by the fires and burned alive, or died of exhaustion. The number of victims also increased due to the brutality of some of the guards, who beat people with rifle butts. It was impossible to escape from the "island of death" - it was surrounded by machine-gun crews, who immediately shot those who tried.

Isle of Cannibals

The first cases of cannibalism on Nazinsky Island occurred already on the tenth day of the stay of the repressed there. The criminals who were among them crossed the line. Accustomed to surviving in harsh conditions, they formed gangs that terrorized the rest.

Residents of a nearby village became unwitting witnesses to the nightmare that was happening on the island. One peasant woman, who at that time was only thirteen years old, recalled how a beautiful young girl was courted by one of the guards: “When he left, people grabbed the girl, tied her to a tree and stabbed her to death, having eaten everything they could. They were hungry and hungry. Throughout the island, human flesh could be seen ripped, cut, and hung from trees. The meadows were littered with corpses."

"I chose those who are no longer alive, but not yet dead," a certain Uglov, accused of cannibalism, testified later during interrogations: So it will be easier for him to die … Now, right away, not to suffer for another two or three days."

Another resident of the village of Nazino, Theophila Bylina, recalled: “The deportees came to our apartment. Once an old woman from Death-Island also visited us. They drove her by stage … I saw that the old woman's calves were cut off on her legs. To my question, she replied: "It was cut off and fried for me on Death-Island." All the flesh on the calf was cut off. The legs were freezing from this, and the woman wrapped them in rags. She moved on her own. She looked old, but in reality she was in her early 40s."

A month later, hungry, sick and exhausted people, interrupted by rare tiny food rations, were evacuated from the island. However, the disasters for them did not end there. They continued to die in unprepared cold and damp barracks of Siberian special settlements, receiving a meager food there. In total, for the entire time of the long journey, out of six thousand people, just over two thousand survived.

Classified tragedy

No one outside the region would have known about the tragedy that had happened if it had not been for the initiative of Vasily Velichko, instructor of the Narym District Party Committee. He was sent to one of the special labor settlements in July 1933 to report on how the "declassed elements" are being successfully re-educated, but instead he completely immersed himself in the investigation of what had happened.

Based on the testimony of dozens of survivors, Velichko sent his detailed report to the Kremlin, where he provoked a violent reaction. A special commission that arrived in Nazino conducted a thorough investigation, finding 31 mass graves on the island with 50-70 corpses in each.

More than 80 special settlers and guards were brought to trial. 23 of them were sentenced to capital punishment for "looting and beating", 11 people were shot for cannibalism.

After the end of the investigation, the circumstances of the case were classified, as was the report of Vasily Velichko. He was removed from his position as instructor, but no further sanctions were taken against him. Having become a war correspondent, he went through the entire Second World War and wrote several novels about the socialist transformations in Siberia, but he never dared to write about the "island of death".

The general public learned about the Nazin tragedy only in the late 1980s, on the eve of the collapse of the Soviet Union.
