Tracking the background of the events that led to the assassination in Kiev of the former head of the Iraqi project for the production of military weapons of nerve agent "V-Ex" Dr. Imad Al-Ani and his compatriot, the Saddam nuclear physicist, who first escaped with him from Conakry, and then from Kiev, and finally from Baghdad, as well as the news of the departure of the EMERCOM delegation to Conakry, led me to a topic that I really didn’t want to deal with: Ebola.

It is difficult to get anything intelligible from the abundance of news reports. Therefore, I ask the reader's forgiveness: I am a lawyer, not a doctor, and I did not ask for the help of a medical examiner, since I am not preparing a document: in front of you is just a blog entry. If the experts correct me, I will certainly post their comments.

When it comes to the beneficiaries of the escalation of armed conflicts, man-made disasters and biological terror, for some reason they often forget about one of the most important components of the military-industrial complex: pharmaceutical companies. Although, it would seem, why go far: everyone is hearing an episode when in 2001 several grams of anthrax spores sent by mail to the offices of several media outlets and two Democratic senators, Tom Dashle from South Dakota and Patrick Leahy from Vermont, turned out to be enough to infect 22 people and kill five.

The US Department of Justice held the US government's senior biosecurity researcher, Dr. Bruce Ivins, responsible, but ignored those pharmaceutical companies whose stock skyrocketed.

There were very few such companies, for obvious reasons. Pharmaceutical production is not that expensive, so generics are relatively inexpensive. The most risky investment in the industry is the development and licensing of new, branded drugs, which are subsequently sold for a lot of money. However, effective demand cannot be found for all positions. Therefore, it would seem wise to invest in medicines for ailments that afflict a large number of wealthy people, rather than a small number of the poor. This is what the largest corporations in the industry do, but the smaller ones are also looking for their place in the sun, and find it in the tropics.

The habitat of the "golden billion" is little affected by tropical diseases, so working in this niche requires its own little tricks. In 2003, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Judd Gregg proposed, and in 2004, President George Walker Bush signed into law Public Law 108-276, known as the Project Bioshield Act.

Since then, New Hampshire Republican Senator Gregg has been uncontrollably “flooded”. The very next year, he became chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, and at the same time won $ 850,000 in the lottery on a ticket that he accidentally bought in a convenience store for $ 20. Then he turned down the proposed post of Secretary of Commerce, and was satisfied with the work of a simple international consultant for the investment bank Goldman Sachs, and at the same time the CEO of the Wall Street lobbying group - the industry association of securities and financial markets.

The BioShield project has spent a total of $ 5.6 billion to purchase vaccines that will be used in the event of a bioterrorist attack. The program provides for the procurement of medical supplies against biological, radiological and nuclear agents for civilian use. The main subtlety of this law was to authorize the purchase at public expense of vaccines that have not been tested both for their effectiveness on the human body and for safety. This was explained by the impossibility of conducting tests that expose people to chemical, biological or radioactive contamination.

The budget funds were distributed among a handful of private companies, including even one foreign (!) - Canadian. These people are difficult to suspect of black ingratitude, and in the upcoming presidential elections, the likely Republican candidate Jeb Bush will have no problems with campaign financing. For some reason, it seems to me that he will certainly be just as lucky as Judd Gregg.

However, this is just the tip of the iceberg. After the bizarre terrorist attacks of 2001, the US government has allocated nearly $ 50 billion for some reason to combat the biological weapons threat. It happens. We, too, after the terrorist attacks, for some reason, canceled the election of governors. I call these attacks bizarre not because of my adherence to a particular conspiracy theory, but simply from my own experience.

In those half-forgotten times, I was in Budapest, in an underground cell for those under investigation under the building that housed the Gestapo during World War II, then the local state security, and then another shop that was subsequently disbanded under the abbreviation K. B. I. During interrogations, they tried to ask me about some exotic things, and this whole story amused both me and the representatives of the Russian consulate who sometimes appeared. The German diplomats who were following the case (for their own reasons) treated it with due seriousness, checked everything thoroughly, and sent an official conclusion to their Foreign Ministry that the case was not a criminal, but a political one.

However, the American team of Robert Levinson (who later disappeared on the island of Kish, where he arrived on the instructions of the CIA), supervising local investigators, looked everywhere for the trail of the Russian mafia, and visited my accomplices, who in turn insistently demanded to get rid of me. Some of them fell apart: he divulged a terrible secret that there is no mafia in Russia, and instead of useless talk about it, he offered to hand over with giblets American officers in exchange for my release. … He received an impassive refusal: the American special services are not interested in this information.

Then another, in the same style, but a more malicious offer of a deal with justice came: leave Volkova behind, and in return get a full deal on Al Qaeda Airlines - the Hamburg cell of Mohammed Att and company - and federal agents fled like hell from incense. The offered information did not interest them: the less you know, you sleep better.

Nevertheless, two weeks later, just in case, they lifted me to the surface of the earth, and without charge or change the measure of restraint, they supplied me with an old sweater brought by one of the officers from home, and pushed me into the snow-covered street of Aradi in the same summer clothes in which for many months before that they had brought, accompanied by one hundred and twenty frightened athletes in black bulletproof vests and balaclavas (I did not count them, but this composition of the capture group, including snipers and explosives technicians, was reported by the local media, from the most respectable and, it seems, up to the tabloid magazine " Zsaru "-" Cop "). There was still a lot of time left before the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Okay, time for memoirs will appear when I retire, but for now, let's get back to the BioShield project. Its priorities are anthrax, ebola, botulism and plague. More than two thousand people have died so far from the latest outbreak of Ebola, according to official WHO estimates. But in fact, everyone knows about a significant number of undiagnosed or undiagnosed deaths.

Countries affected by the epidemic: Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Kenya and Cote d'Ivoire. We are talking about a new strain of the Ebola virus, more aggressive and acting faster than all previously known. And most importantly: unlike the usual Ebola virus, it is transmitted in a non-contact way. In Monrovia alone, the capital of Liberia, forty health officials have been infected and several hospitals have to be closed.

It was only when two doctors from the United States fell ill that the American authorities admitted that they had at their disposal some kind of remedy for the treatment of Ebola, called "ZMapp". Indeed, the drug has shown in a short time that it can work miracles. Africans asked why their infected were not receiving this drug, including local doctors and nurses who died from the infection?

Quite unexpectedly, it turned out that American pharmaceutical companies had prudently procured several drugs against this particular strain of the Ebola virus: mixtures of antibodies like the aforementioned ZMapp, several vaccines based on vesicular stomatitis virus, and a very effective high-tech vaccine TKM-Ebola.

TKM-Ebola was developed by the biolaboratory of the Canadian company Tekmira. By the way, it was there, in Canada, that for the first time it was possible to record the possibility of contactless transmission of the Ebola virus - in animal experiments.

In 2010, Tekmira signed a $ 140 million contract with the US Department of Defense to introduce therapeutic RNA interference using proprietary liquid nanoparticle (LNP) technology to treat Ebola.

In 2013, the collaboration expanded to reflect significant advances in liquid nanoparticle technology, including new, more efficient formulation technologies that allow them to be lyophilized, as well as formulations suitable for subcutaneous injection.

In January 2014, Tekmira began the first phase of the TKM-Ebola clinical trial. JPM-MCS, part of the Joint Office for the Implementation of the Chemical and Biological Defense Program, is designed (according to the company itself) to provide the US military and the entire nation with safe, effective and innovative medical solutions to counter chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats.

For the past seven years, certain private US pharmaceutical companies have had virtually unlimited access to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the United States Military Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) in Fort Detrick, Maryland.

It was at USAMRIID that the kind of antibody cocktail on which the ZMapp vaccine is based was developed - but a private company will now profit from this development.

Human trials are required to obtain a license to market with these new products. Fancy an organization for FDA certification of Ebola vaccine trials in the United States? It was then that, just as opportunely, the contamination in the mysterious Guinean laboratory took place, which caused an outbreak of the disease that grew to an epidemic.

This laboratory seems mysterious for a number of reasons. What else can you call a place in Africa where foreigners of various specialties, from microbiologists, biochemists and immunologists to nuclear physicists and chemical weapons specialists, work side by side with American scientists under the supervision of CIA agents? Moreover, such, the very place of which, at least according to American ideas, should be in Guantanamo (and some of them were indeed taken from American captivity).

Why by the way? Because you can go, for example, to "CNN Money" at the link: Tekmira shares surged as the Ebola crisis intensified - "Tekmira shares rose as the Ebola crisis intensified." Or: "The company's shares jumped 45% on Friday, hitting the highest price since April."

Just think, binomial Newton. Finger, or something, to lead along the line "Tekmira Pharmaceuticals Corp (TKMR)" in the NASDAQ reports? In January, they announced the start of human trials, in March - laboratory contamination in Guinea, since April the shares have been growing in value.

Do you think you've stopped? Nothing like this. Human trials are successful, only in Africa, and this is what CNNMoneyInvest reported on Aug 8: “The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is authorizing the limited use of an Ebola drug. A sharp jump in quotations”.

Experts say that at the moment the situation with the spread of Ebola disease across Africa is close to catastrophic. So the FDA is not going anywhere, and it is authorizing unlimited use of excess material for experiments. It is then that the quotes will really jump to an unattainable height.

Some might conclude that the last Ebola outbreak was only needed to certify drugs and play on the NASDAQ. After all, the African population is not able to provide effective demand. But this is not required of him.

There is, of course, the UN budget - but my grandmother said it in two. Last time, when exactly the same number was performed with HIV, the Germans and French did not want to pay exorbitant prices, and insisted that, despite the new patent, the UN would buy an AIDS cocktail for Africa at the price of a generic in India - and if the patent holders continued argue, then German and French experts will seriously deal with the cause of the mysterious unnatural changes that have occurred with the human immunodeficiency virus. The patent holders immediately ceased to object, but recaptured their sales in the same Europe.

Europeans cannot tightly close their borders to people arriving from Africa. Therefore, almost every European hospital will be forced, just in case, to purchase these drugs at exorbitant branded prices - and replace them after the expiration date.

In the case of anti-Ebola drugs, this is a double scam. In reality, all these vaccines are worth their weight in gold, liquid nanoparticles and other high-tech products are not needed by anyone. It is enough to take blood from donors who survived Ebola and make serum from it, because this blood contains no less of the same antibodies as in the wonderful "ZMapp". It looks like "ZMapp" is being produced this way.

In 1995, during the Ebola outbreak in Kikwit, Democratic Republic of the Congo, a German-Israeli team of doctors treated eight patients on their knees with the blood of five survivors, and seven recovered. Of course, this method cannot be patented, and pharmaceutical corporations will not make a profit.

Therefore, when the EMERCOM rescuers who flew to Guinea begin to rescue people, a terrible howl will arise that the Russians have brought voodoo healers trying to use Africans' old-fashioned methods - and this howl will stand until the Emergencies Ministry acquires the same thing, but for a lot of money with a color label. However, for a rollback, it may gain.

The product is expensive, but not in short supply: the benefit of raw materials is now more than enough - the epidemic is the most massive in the history of Ebola. But, as they say in some corporations, God forbid, not the last. However, if God does not give - the CIA will delight dear little people.
