A lot of articles and videos have appeared on the Internet about the allegedly fossilized roots (stumps) of giant trees of the Earth's past, and even information with the interpretation that these are ancient forms of flint life. I propose to compare a few examples with information that will at least partially help answer the question: what is it really?

To understand what this is about - here is an example of a similar video from the Internet about "stumps" and silicon life:

This version is based only on the external similarity of the structure of mesas and mountains made of "hexagonal" basalt, syenite and granite "rods" as fossilized giant fibers of the same giant trees or trees of silicon life.

Some of the strange in shape objects are basalt and granite massifs, consisting of "hexagonal" rods. Or they are also called the "trail of the giants", basalt columns. Yes, much of what geology calls basalts may not be basalt, or rather not igneous rock, but mineral, formed not from melt, but from solution. This will be discussed below.

The official explanation is the cracking of basalt or syenite (also found from this rock) during the rapid, shock cooling of the mass and its crystallization. In this case, cracks occur along the breaks of the crystal lattice. Although this is not an empirically verified statement, since no one set up models and experiments in laboratories.

The official model of education:

Until recently, I was a supporter of the version of the artificial origin of some stone objects: granite and syenite outliers, walls, pillars. I have put forward several hypotheses on this topic. For example, that it is the squeezing of processed rock from the giant aggregates of space colonizers from a highly developed civilization in the distant geological periods of the Earth. The version is fantastic, as many would say: worthy of a Hollywood movie script. As a result, I came to a certain opinion, although it is alternative, it speaks of their natural origin.

According to my hypothesis, the syenite and granite of these bizarre objects are not igneous rock, but petrified and crystallized mud masses that emerged in the past from the bowels of the Earth in faults or from mud volcanoes - more details.

The information below discusses examples of basalt masses from hexagonal blocks, "sleepers". For their quirkiness, inquiring minds cannot find answers and explanations: how could natural processes create such a thing? In geology, this is described, but only in theory. Can anyone show laboratory experiments that repeat these processes?

In contrast to all the enormous possibilities of world geology, someone abroad set up an experiment that showed that when dried out, certain masses crack into "hexagons":

In the video below, the author of the channel reports that earlier he also had fantastic views on the topic of giant trees of the past, which we now see as mesas (their stumps). But the mind took up, especially in the absence of evidence and facts about flint life on ancient Earth.

Many inquisitive minds, due to the external similarity of such pictures, give out the opinion that in the past of the Earth there were huge trees based on silicon life.

I propose to look at the possibility of the existence on Earth of biological life based on silicon, briefly considering biochemistry:

Silicon is in the same group of the Periodic Table as carbon, their properties are very similar. Silicon is capable of forming polymer chains, including protein-like ones. But silicon atoms have a larger mass and radius, they are more difficult to form a double or triple covalent bond, which can interfere with the formation of biopolymers.

The problem with silicon is that silicon dioxide SiO2, an analogue of carbon dioxide CO2, unlike the latter, is not a gas, but a solid, poorly soluble substance - sand. This creates difficulties for the entry of silicon into biological systems based on aqueous solutions.

Those. biological life based on silicon and with oxidative processes based on oxygen is not possible. At least in the earth's atmosphere with its oxygen. Silicon hydrogen compounds, silanes - generally ignite in air.

SiO2 cannot be excreted from the body. It has to accumulate.

On Earth, silicon compounds are nevertheless used by some organisms, such as diatoms (and in radiolarians, the skeleton consists of it), which, extracting silicon from water, form a shell from silicon - already a biologically dead inorganic structure. But for the most part, calcium-based compounds are used for this - it is more in water.

It turns out that if all these "six-sided sleepers" were previously alive, then only on the basis of carbon. And it is not clear how the processes in their body could transfer silicon from the earth? Everything is easier in water. Silicon compounds in micro doses are dissolved in water.

If there was once life on Earth not based on carbon, but on silicon, then not in an atmosphere with oxygen and not with a solvent in the form of water.
