Why has the world not noticed the disappearance of the inhabitants of an entire continent? Why did this not revolt anyone for several centuries? Because in our childhood, as in the childhood of our great-grandfathers, there were Fenimore Cooper and Mine Reed.

And indeed, compare: America turned out to be a worthy successor of the traditions of Mother Europe! No sooner had the States been proclaimed in 1776, than by the beginning of the 19th century, girls and boys all over the world, sinking in horror, worried about white brave and noble Europeans, persecuted by insidious and vicious, bloodthirsty and merciless "red-faced" monsters. Fenimore Cooper began to create his myth in the 20s of the XIX century, and Mein Reid intensively consolidated the success of "American mythology" by the 50s of the same century. Who could shed tears for the lost highest culture of the most ancient people? Youthful impressions did not contribute to being interested in his fate at all: they disappeared and thank God!

… For many years in a row I have puzzled over the wide popularity of such authors as Alexandre Dumas or Walter Scott. For the sake of fairness, it should be said: Scott did not touch my bright, avidly reading youth at all, but I paid tribute to Dumas, as they say, "in full." I don’t know what I didn’t read from him.

And now, as an adult (and even ALL an adult), I look around my countless bookshelves, observing an amazing picture: Scott and Dumas, Mein Reed and Fenimore Cooper are not inferior in the number of volumes to Balzac and Dickens, but the circulation … ! And, of course, not in favor of Balzac and Dickens.

Why? Why, to put it mildly, tabloid literature, was printed and distributed in countless quantities? Who fed this whole army of "literary blacks" who created the brands "Scott" and "Dumas" all lifeto the person writing!). Who invested money in the widest distribution of this product far beyond the borders of France and England, and most importantly - why? Is it really that obvious - just sales revenue?

In order to somehow relieve my head, torn by problems and work, I once decided at night in a metered dose, "a little bit" to take "romance". "Scott," I said to myself, "easy reading, you will fall asleep not under the hysterics of thoughts about things that have not been done, but in pleasant memories of youthful dreams."

Alas! As you know, Muscovites were spoiled by the housing problem, and my mind was spoiled by 25 years of experience in history. Therefore, instead of one hundred percent sleeping pills, I got another headache.

I'm not talking about the historical truth of Walter Scott - it's not there. There is no literature there either - the structure of the plot, the outlining of the characters, even the logic - everything is lame on both legs. Sometimes the author even "steams" the elementary mixing of "ends with ends" of the very course of the plot.

But there was an answer to the question about the circulation. The very question of why not even tabloid - second-rate, third-rate literature did not have time to leave the printing presses. Why did the boys of tsarist Russia (read the memoirs of the classics!), Burying the coveted penny from their parents, secretly fled to the marketplaces to buy another cheap book in a thin wrapper cover, so that with rapture somewhere in the attic of the dacha, without hearing the gong for dinner, to dream of the beautiful ladies and noble orders of the knightly era. Why did the boys of the Soviet era continue this tradition with honor, literally marching through "Ivanhoe" or "Quentin Dorward" in formation.

By the way, I found the answer to the question that tormented me in my youth: a why in Russia there were no such high and devoted "vassal-suzerain" relations? Why the concept of "high service to the master" and "Knightly Honor", the cult of the "Beautiful Lady" did not affect the inhabitants of the country, which stretched its expanses from Poland to Alaska? Apparently, this question haunted not only me, it was not for nothing that Svetlana Druzhinina tried to late and retroactively fill this gap with their second-rate "Midshipmen", no less than the novels of Dumas and Scott.

Now that I am an adult and have been delving into serious historical books for many, many years, I know: but because this was nowhere … The romance and nobility of the western feudal era is as much a fake as another message about the death of Yakubovich or Bilan.

However, the destructive significance of a fake in history was appreciated in the West much earlier than we realized what it threatened us with. We are just beginning to see clearly, and Jesuit colleges (the beginning of any systemic education on earth in principle!) Were opened (think about it!) In Vienna in 1551, in Rome in 1552, in Paris in 1561! (To "think": the Byzantine heritage began to be divided according to official history from 1453, and if know history - something much earlier).

And they were open only because there, in a small and completely poor Europe understood before us: what got into the head in early youth determines a person's life forever … This is how literature was invented, its highest educational (or, better to say, "propagandistic") limit, which received not in Dickens and Balzac, but in Scott and Dumas. Do you remember: "She liked novels early / They replaced everything for her …"?

So this exceptionally composed, wonderful-candy image of a highly noble Europe, so colorfully painted in the multivolume "serials" of the 19th century, through the efforts of the brands "V. Scott", "A. Dumas "and others like them imperceptibly and forever settled in subconscious many generations of Russian adolescents. Experienced gardeners know that if you want to get a good harvest, you have to patiently apply a lot of high-quality fertilizers to the soil for years and not wait for the result right away, and so … a little later … in 5-10 years.

Well, and there, "over the hill", too, did not rush. 100-400 years for those who wish to achieve goals - not at all time! It only seems to us that everything in the world is not systemic and does not go according to plan. And for them, who always lacked human and military-technical resources, natural resources and provisions for mastering 1/6 of the land, which was carried past their noses when the Byzantine heritage was divided, there was only one thing left: to fight for it by means of cunning, which is called so diligently the "ideology" that they themselves abuse. The main thing is not to be late with this process!

It was then that in Europe they began to teach everyone to read and write: the eldest son from each family was taken to colleges and universities, like to the army. As there is in the song: "In the French side, // on an alien planet, // I have to study // At the university …"! And in parallel, there they began to intensively create something what they had to learn: first "comics" - high examples of spatial arts and painting, and then "fiction" literature.

The experiment carried out by the Jesuits for several centuries in Europe on the "formation of consciousness" through literature and art gave quite a decent result. From the middle of the 18th century, he stepped over the borders and slowly trudged along the "friendly" "1/6 of the land", so by the way already "plowed" by Peter the civilizer.

As a result, several generations of adolescents on Russian territory, "programmed" by such exquisite lies, after a very short time began to transmit love for Europe to their children already at the genetic level. Moreover, the "program" reinforced itself with reality: in Russia, such nobility and such "high" relations were by no means observed!

To understand what is was not observed anywhere - I had to become an adult and … deliberately delve into books. And at the same time remember that in pre-Petrine times "the word given to the world" in the peasant community or the "Russian merchant word" (formerly, by the way, only in Russia!), Was stronger than any knightly oath.

However, having become an adult such a "loaded" with a fairy tale about a "noble Europe" the teenager did not perceive such domestic "nonsense" … He had something to compare with! The "surreal" reality of the novels, fanned by the carelessness of childhood, became more obvious than the harsh Russian reality, which demanded remarkable survival skills from an adult.

The worst ideological sabotage I know in history is the Renaissance, with its cult of art and literature, with its lofty examples of painting and sculpture. They “invested” in it as well as in the army of “fiction writers” and by no means out of philanthropic considerations of love for beauty. After all, then the entire Academy of Painting from St. Petersburg for centuries kept alignment with these "samples", stubbornly sending their chicks to "blessed Italy" to paint the fake ruins of the Colosseum … And Gogol in Italy … And Tchaikovsky abroad writes "The Queen of Spades" - (and knows, what he writes about! Great prophet!) And even Gorky - and he on Capri …

This is where it turns out, the nature of the infantilism of the Russian intelligentsia, its genetic adoration of "Western values." Lovingly nurtured by European gardeners for 400 years … Here it is, our blindness, which allows anyone to engage in the subconscious of adolescents, in any way. Here it is, our stupid faith in obviousness danger and ignorance of danger from not obvious.

As a result generations Russian children over the centuries were brought up on the myth of a "noble" and "civilized" Europe as opposed to the "domestic" rudeness of morals. What do we have? The completely destroyed subconsciousness of our children for at least 200 years … We are all fighting the obvious … not obvious continues his exact-aiming slaughter business.

Then came the cinema and computers with games. They also invested well. But the printing press is still not lagging behind, gaining momentum: George Martin, J. K. Rowling, E. L. James, Stephenie Meyer … Pokemon, Sailor Moon … Teletubbies … Luntik … anime … martial arts … "philosophy of flowers of life" … Buddhism … " hari krishna "…" Assassins Creed ".." Ladies and Lelys with Peruns and Dazhbogs "… Who else and by what means is not aiming at the brains of a Russian child, but in fact - a Russian adult. And the Russian man is still childishly trusting and … the whole family laughs to "Masha and the Bear" …

So what is it all ban ?

Don't be happy. I do not require this. Although, the Yeltsin Center would have closed in five seconds! And it would have left it empty to decay under time, as our ruined factories and hospitals, schools and village councils of the USSR collapsed by betrayal of the "Europeanized" elites of the USSR were decaying. Yes so. so that with broken glass and a settlement of homeless people. And for many centuries, if this vessel is able to hold out so much, it would forbid dismantling the ruins for the edification of descendants. And this would be the most correct monument to the Yeltsin era, to Yeltsin himself and our Russian stupidity.

I just demand at the state level adequately assess and teach correctly history and culture of Western Europe and America. And so that the first books were Russian tales, not "Hansel and Gretel" or "The Bremen Town Musicians". I demand to speak openly to children about the age-old ideological sabotage through literature and art, even if among all this there are his lofty examples. The artistry of these samples in terms of form - please explain - without the discoveries of the Renaissance, there would be no painting or cinema. But here content this art and this literature must be clearly separated in the minds of children from the highest quality of performance.

Otherwise … If Russia dies from something, it will not be from the American fleet or laser weapons. And from their own blindness and illegibility.

We will certainly "tear" the American fleet! With a small caveat: if there is someone! It is not for nothing that since Soviet times, at first an anecdote circulated, and then - in "perestroika times" it grew into a persistent and direct statement-regret: "And why did not the French conquer us in 1812? We would live like people now …"
