Moldavite, also called vltavin and bottle stone, is a mysterious glassy rock found exclusively in southern Bohemia. It usually has an unusually beautiful green color, but very rarely, brown and even black specimens can also be found.

Moldavite is a popular souvenir from which jewelry, figurines and talismans are made. Unprocessed pieces of "bottle stone" are also valued among tourists.

One theory of scientists says that a meteorite once fell on the territory of modern southern Bohemia. Due to the tremendous temperature released by the celestial body, some rock (or sand) straightened and was thrown into the air, scattering over the territory with a radius of many hundreds of kilometers, where it froze in the form of pieces of moldavite. Say, that is why the surface of the "bottle stone" is structured and covered with "scars", and the sizes of the pieces are small and rarely exceed 5 centimeters.

According to another hypothesis, moldavite is an alien mineral that arrived on our planet along with a comet that burned down in the earth's atmosphere about 15 million years ago. This is indicated by the unique composition of the Vltavina, significantly different from the composition of other igneous rocks. If this is really so, and moldavite came to us from somewhere from the depths of space, its properties may turn out to be the most amazing and even fantastic.

Alternative researchers, of course, put forward their own versions of the origin of moldavite. Some of them are sure that it was created as a result of the activities of some technically advanced ancient civilization, for example, after a nuclear explosion.
