People often do not know about their hidden possibilities. It turns out that if you just turn on your head and think a little, you can roughly sort out those things that you did not understand well before, especially when you need to make a certain choice in your life. It is, of course, more difficult to become an expert, but at least you can stop being a sucker for sure, and in just a few minutes and without leaving your home.

In fact, in many cases, even if you are not an expert in some field, a holistic understanding of things can help you understand the situation and find the right solution. When there is no holistic understanding of things, people are led to idiotic nonsense. I will try to demonstrate how a thinking person could reason when faced with the so-called "fuel economizers". It's just one of the optionsreasoning, rather superficial and accessible to every person. Such reasoning does not prove anything strictly and for sure, but they are guaranteed to be enough so as not to become a sucker and not buy an economizer. There are also deeper arguments, exposing the scam with all the rigor of physics, but I will not cite them here, because this will require specific knowledge from the reader from the relevant field.

So, here we are, in the form of an ordinary person, we go to some site that sells fuel economizers. For example, on Google's search for "fuel economizer", we first came across Fuel Shark. We read the first line of the device description

This device was developed by the best engineers at the NASA space center.

We go to Google, set up a search only on foreign sites and look for any mention of Fuel Shark together with NASA. We immediately see that there is not a single mention, and everything that is either associated with sharks (with real ones, and not those that are inserted into the car's cigarette lighter), or lead to Russian-language sites in the COM zone, where the same line about NASA is simply repeated in Russian and in English. This is the first bad sign.

We read further (I am not quoting everything in a row, but selectively).

That is why today the fuel economizer is becoming more and more popular, which allows you to reduce gasoline consumption by up to 30%.

Now let's just think about how profitable it would be for car companies to immediately build such a thing into a car, getting up to 30% fuel economy. No, they are probably all idiots there, they are fighting for every 1-2% savings, they go out of their way to make their car more economical than that of a competitor. Why hasn't any car company taken advantage of Fuel Shark's fuel-saving technology (this technology is rudimentary, as we'll see below)? We do not know the answer to this question, but how thinking people should already consider this a second bad sign.

Farther,

Every car enthusiast has the idea that the greater the power of the spark in the cylinder, the more complete the combustion of the fuel fluid takes place …

Stop! Firstly, this is bullshit, but not every motorist knows about this, which is what the author of the quoted lines was counting on. Therefore, let's pretend that we are not experts in ICE matters, but simply think logically. Engine manufacturers have been struggling with ignition systems for a long time. Even if you are a kettle, you can enter into the same google some completely idiotic question such as "the influence of the spark power on fuel combustion" and find several articles (I found) that describe almost all the factors affecting fuel combustion and various installation schemes candles. For example, you can learn about the Twin Spark system, the essence of which is the use of two spark plugs on one cylinder. In short, without going into details, you can quickly find that engine manufacturers are actively looking for a way to organize the combustion process in the cylinder in such a way that combustion is as complete as possible. And then they tell us that

The way out of the situation is the installation of the Fuel Shark economizer, which accumulates energy while driving with the help of a built-in powerful capacitor, and then compensates for its consumption.

And the engine manufacturers are idiots, they could not guess that you just need to connect a powerful capacitor to the candle so that everything immediately becomes good. The only thing that is not clear is how the current, sufficient for the spark plug, passes through the usual wires of the car's cigarette lighter and at the same time enters the ignition coil … Well, these are trifles. So this is the third call. Actually, three calls are enough, but we will continue.

As I promised, about the device.

The Economizer Full Shark is a fairly simple and straightforward device equipped with a powerful electrolytic capacitor. The process of connecting this Fuel Shark fuel economy is carried out by connecting it to the electrical circuit of the car through the cigarette lighter, which allows you to minimize the electrical energy expended at the same time. With an active economizer, the auto generator works at full power, while compensating for it due to the operation of the condenser of the Full Shark economizer.

So, here again the question arises that since the point is in the concentrator, why did the engine manufacturers not guess about it earlier and still don’t guess, since everything is as simple as what is available to an ordinary car enthusiast. And the second point - you are being held for idiots with this phrase. First, try to understand what a "powerful electrolytic capacitor" is. Look for pictures of at least just powerful capacitors, they are quite large in size … Next, look at the electrical diagram of the car, find there the voltage and current for which the cigarette lighter is designed. Find the voltage and current on those devices, the operation of which it supposedly should provide. The description of the device says the following

The Fuel Shark device is able to compensate for not only the lack of voltage in the circuit, but also the voltage for the operation of the headlights, audio system, wipers, air conditioner and even the navigator.

Now you can simply imagine that a small capacitor, almost the size of an old radio, will provide headlights, wipers, air conditioning and - it can't be! - it's even scary to say, navigator! In which, by the way, there are a whole bunch of these capacitors … and why are they there then? This is the fourth call.

Next, we look at the reviews on the websites of sellers of similar economizers. We see that there are only good reviews. We go to any independent forum of motorists, where this thing is discussed with those who actually bought and tested it. We see mostly only negative reviews. This should suggest that reviews are being bought on the sellers' site. People who bought Fuel Shark also have positive reviews. But where do they come from?

The fact is that a person pretty quickly realizes that he was divorced, but does not want to be a sucker and tries to rationalize his purchase. For example, he begins to drive more accurately, follows the recommendations of experienced drivers, thanks to which you can really save about 10% of fuel (these recommendations can be found on the network quite easily). The car begins to behave more smoothly under the control of a more accurate driver - and it begins to seem to him (although in the depths of his consciousness he realizes that he is deceiving himself) that all this is thanks to the fuel economizer. That's the whole secret of these economizers.

You can also find advertisements on the Internet that emphasize the fact that fuel economizers have been banned in Russia. Marketers are making the classic move by making sweet fruit taboo, as explained in this article. Say, it is not profitable for Russian companies to consume less gasoline, they passed a law banning scams … oh-oh, fuel economizers, buy before it's too late:)

Even if you are not convinced by such superficial arguments against Fuel Shark, they should at least make you think about what is happening, make you understand the topic in more detail, before becoming a sucker.

Go to the forums, read what people who understand such things write - they will use physics and use the usual language of communication (with and without mats) to popularly explain that crap with an ordinary 2-volt light bulb and a capacitor from an old radio does not in any way affect the operation of the car's electrics, especially if you plug it into the cigarette lighter. There are detailed videos with an analysis of such economizers, where experts explain why this is a layout. All this has long been known and studied, but no, people continue to buy this nonsense.

There are other economizers out there that you can begin to debunk with similar reasoning, simply by reading the descriptions and simply applying common sense to them. Over time, you will learn to feel how the text "on a sucker" differs from the text for normal people.

Summing up, I can tell you the following. Fuel economizers are very useful devices. There are at least two benefits from them. The first undoubted benefit is educational. Suckers need to be educated, and if you can't do it softly, teaching them to think at least as shown in this article, then you need to train them hard, by pushing all sorts of crap. The second benefit is motivational. When a goof has bought an economizer, he will try to rationalize the purchase and will drive more accurately for a while and really save fuel by driving properly.
