The history of the holiday "Valentine's Day" (or "Valentine's Day") is so romantic and mysterious that it is definitely worth saying a few words about it. It is probably impossible to establish exactly when this holiday appeared and why it is celebrated on February 14th. Valentine's Day got its modern name only in the 18th century.
Some suggest that the name of the holiday comes from the name of Bishop Valentine, who was imprisoned during the reign of Emperor Claudius for secretly marrying couples against the imperial decree. It was he who became the patron saint of lovers. While in prison, Valentine healed the blind daughter of a prison guard, showed the people a miracle given by love and faith.
According to legend, the great martyr was publicly beheaded on February 14 (it is not known exactly what year). Saint Valentine's dying letter, addressed to the girl who had recovered her sight, was signed: "from Valentine." It is believed that this is why cards presented on Valentine's Day - one of the main symbols of the holiday - have been called valentines for over 200 years.

At the end of the above video, instead of February 14, we are offered to celebrate "Day of Family, Love and Fidelity" on July 8.
The initiative to hold the "All-Russian Day of Family, Love and Fidelity" belongs to the residents of the city of Murom, where the bodies of Peter and Fevronia found their peace. This idea was supported by the deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, and in 2008 the holiday received official support. To popularize the holiday, monuments to Peter and Fevronia were erected in many cities of Russia.
But what kind of characters they were, and what kind of love and loyalty they had, Alexander Nevzorov analyzed in detail.
