Throughout its existence, humanity has faced something that it could not explain. Time passed, and more and more previously unknown phenomena, objects or places became "read books". However, even today there are points on the map, whose history is still shrouded in mystery, and they are popular with adherents of mystical tourism. Many such places were found in the domestic open spaces. We bring to your attention the "nine" of the most mysterious tourist spots in Russia.
1. Mount Vottovaara (Karelia)
Karelia is an amazing land that combines picturesque beauty and the spirit of mysticism. It seems that the earth itself is filled with riddles and does not want to part with them. However, Mount Vottovaara is rightly considered the most mysterious.
In fact, the mysterious object is a small mountain range, about seven kilometers long. According to archaeological research, in ancient times, the mountain was a sacred place among the Sami people, who used it for ritual ceremonies.
But even today Vottovaara is periodically associated with mystical phenomena and magic. The fact is that abnormal things are happening on the top of the mountain - electronics fail, the clock shows the wrong time, and visitors to an unusual place feel strange. However, large-scale studies of the mountain have not been carried out until now.
2. Olkhon Island (Lake Baikal)
Despite the development of civilization and scientific and technological progress, even today you can find not only people who believe in mysticism, but also those who preach it and live according to special laws. Among them there are many shamans who devote a lot of time to conducting special rituals in the so-called "places of power". One of them is Olkhon Island.
Located in the very heart of Lake Baikal, Olkhon is also quite rightly called the "island of shamans", because all those who believe in spirits regularly gather there to conduct rituals to communicate with otherworldly forces.
It is believed that when a shaman enters into communication with a spirit, it is possible to get an answer to a question of interest from him. However, clearly established rules must be followed. So, for example, during the rite of connection, one should not look the shaman in the eyes, otherwise the spirit can move into the one who is asking.
3. Dolmens (Krasnodar Territory)
Sometimes archaeologists come across such artifacts, of which there are a lot, but it is not possible to find out either their origin or their purpose. Among such mysterious historical monuments on the territory of Russia, one of the most famous are the so-called dolmens.
These unusual stone structures are common in the Caucasus region, but in the Krasnodar Territory they are more accessible than in the mountainous areas, so they are easier to study. Although full-fledged research was only deployed in the 1950s. At the moment, it is known for sure that there are about two and a half thousand dolmens in total on the territory of Russia, which date back to 4-2 millennium BC.
But all the rest of the information that can be found about dolmens remains at the level of assumptions by historians and archaeologists. The most widespread at the moment are the versions about the sacred significance of the structures, as well as the opinion about dolmens as places for burial. However, something is clear even now: these monuments were clearly of great importance for those who built them, because even with modern technology it is not easy to erect such structures, and how it was done several thousand years ago remains a mystery.
4. Solovetsky labyrinths (Bolshoi Zayatsky island)
Solovki has long been a subject of discussion among lovers of mysticism. Still, this place continues to keep many mysteries from prying human eyes today. But the so-called Solovetsky labyrinths are considered especially famous among the mysterious monuments and structures.
Actually, it is somewhat difficult to call them "labyrinths" - they do not have intricate turns and high walls. In fact, they are calculations of stones and boulders. There are 14 "labyrinths" on Bolshoy Zayatsky Island. Their exact purpose is unknown, but most experts call them burial structures.
According to local legends, the "labyrinths" served as a kind of trap for the souls of departed people - the calculations were designed not to let them out into the world of the living. Only shamans had the right to enter the territory of the "labyrinths", who could, using the necessary rituals, interact with the spirits, and then freely return to our world.
5. Manpupuner (Komi Republic)
This famous point on the map of lovers of mystical tourism is an example of a monument of natural origin, which was endowed by people with sacred significance. But today Manpupuner remains a popular tourist destination.
Manpupuner is also called "pillars of weathering", since they are a geological formation about thirty meters high, spread out on the Altai plateau, and the winds "worked" over their present appearance.
The pillars received sacred meaning thanks to the beliefs of the Mansi people. They also gave them the name - "small mountain of idols" - and accompanied it with a mystical legend. So, it is believed that the Altai plateau itself is a habitat for spirits, and only shamans had the right to be there.
And the pillars themselves appeared thanks to magic: according to legend, several Mansi were pursued by six giants, but then a mysterious shaman with a white face appeared on their way, who with a spell turned both giants and himself into stones.
6. Dancing forest (Curonian Spit)
The history of the "dancing forest" is surprising not only with the unusual appearance of the trees, but also with the fact that, despite the half-century existence of the plantations themselves, they have already acquired their own legend, revealing the reasons for the "dancing" of the pine forest.
The Curonian Spit began to be planted only in the 1960s, and for purely applied purposes - to strengthen the sandy soil of the local dunes. However, over the years, locals and guests began to notice that the trunks of pine trees, for some unknown reason, do not grow there directly, but twist in a spiral or simply bend at a strange angle.
And after a while the forest acquired a mystical legend, which supposedly explains such an unusual appearance of the trees of the Curonian Spit. It is believed that a long time ago in this area lived a girl who fell in love with the prince. Wanting to attract the attention of her lover, she played the flute, and the melody was so mesmerizing that even the trees could not stand it and began to dance.
7. Mountain range Chests (Khakassia)
Another geological monument, which, as a result of human activity, gained the fame of a place filled with mysticism. At its core, the mountain range consists of five separate outlier mountains with an average height of about two hundred meters, each with its own set of archaeological sites. Basically, there you can find burial grounds, rock paintings and structures, presumably used to observe and study celestial bodies.
So, for example, the First Mountain, or the Chest, became the last refuge for the ancient shaman, and is also considered the site of the so-called "world mountain" - a priestly sanctuary. The Third Chest attracts photographers with its picturesque views, and the Fourth - archaeologists who study rock paintings. Also, Chests are considered places of power and habitation of spirits.
However, in addition to their historical and sacred significance, the mountains have another interesting feature - unique acoustics. So, if you say something from the top of one of the Chests, even quietly, then the voice will be heard below at a distance of 200-300 meters.
8. Rock "Parus" (Krasnodar Territory)
In fact, the rock itself has neither ancient sacred meanings, nor was it a place of accumulation of anomalous phenomena. Its only oddity, which haunts neither historians nor lovers of mystical theories. It's about a strange hole in the rock.
Many versions circulated about the origin of this hole in the rock, which was strong at first glance. For a long time, the most common assumption was that the hole was actually a cannon impact from the period of the Caucasian War. However, historians reject this version - according to sources, the sailors fired from the battleship only four times, and all of them did not damage the wall, except for a few marks.
9. Medveditskaya ridge (Volgograd region)
Medveditskaya ridge has long been under the scrutiny of both specialists in various scientific fields - historians, archaeologists, geologists and physicists - as well as mystic lovers, ufologists and just tourists who want to tickle their nerves with dark stories.
The number of strange phenomena concentrated in this place is simply amazing: Medveditskaya ridge is rightly considered the most anomalous place in Russia. It seems that here you can find anything - from uncontrollable "antics" of the weather to anomalies with technology.
Several places are distinguished, each of which has its own anomaly. So, for example, "The Slope of Crazy Lightning" is famous for the large huge number of ball charges that constantly appear in this area, even when there is not a cloud in the sky. But the "Drunken Grove" is famous for twisted, as if intoxicated trees, which, in turn, do not have burns. In addition, the ridge is permeated with a whole system of underground tunnels, which are currently not possible to explore.
