Participants of the European rabbis' congress will discuss the problems of terrorism and anti-Semitism in Moscow. The events of the Congress of European Rabbis will be held on August 21-25 in several cities of Russia.

About 500 rabbis will arrive in Moscow on August 21 and in the next few days will visit Smolensk, Lyubavichy (Smolensk region), Liozno and Lyady (Belarus), as well as Alma-Ata, the press service of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia reported on Tuesday. In these cities, the rabbis will visit the graves of the "righteous" associated with the history of Hasidism, and will take part in collective prayers and several solemn events.

In Moscow, the work of the congress will continue on the territory of the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center, where in the branch of the Russian State Library Jewish leaders will be able to see a unique collection of books from the famous Schneerson library. The delegation will also visit the Zhukovka Jewish religious and cultural center located in the Moscow region. The final meeting of the forum will take place on August 25 at the Moscow Jewish Community Center.

The participants of the congress, which is organized under the auspices of the FEOR and the Chief Rabbinate in Russia, will discuss measures to counter terrorism, the problems of anti-Semitism in Europe, the situation of Jewish communities in Russia and abroad, the consequences of the "open door" policy for refugees in the EU, as well as interfaith dialogue.

As noted by the Chief Rabbi of Russia, Berl Lazar, whose words are quoted in the message, the country's Jewish community has accumulated vast experience in implementing important federal and regional projects, interacting with the authorities, building relationships with representatives of traditional religions, attracting and educating young people.

“In an alarming environment for European Jews, it is extremely important for us to share this experience and provide spiritual support to other communities where the issues of security and peaceful good-neighborly relations between representatives of different peoples and religions are especially acute,” he said.

In turn, FEOR President Alexander Boroda noted that a congress of rabbis of this magnitude had not been held in Russia for many years, and this year the country for which it was held was not chosen by chance.

“Jewish life in Russia has made a huge step forward, and many of the delegates to the congress visited the country for the last time during the years of the USSR, when such an infrastructure of Jewish life did not exist at all. life and, moreover, will have a positive effect on Russia's interaction with other countries, he said.
