The beautifully designed magazine "Motives of Russian Architecture", published from 1873 to 1880, published projects and sketches of residential buildings, public buildings, furniture and decor created by the followers of the so-called "Russian style" in architecture of the second half of the 19th century.
Architecture is a special kind of art. It creates a living environment for a person, that is, it is intended not only for admiring, but also for everyday life, convenience and comfort. Living in a harmonious environment uplifts the soul, bringing up quietly and unobtrusively. Creating a work of art that meets these goals is not an easy task. The creations of wonderful architects who managed to solve it are worthy of being examined over and over again.
The beautifully designed magazine "Motives of Russian Architecture", published from 1873 to 1880, gave those who took it in their hands such an opportunity. He published projects and sketches of residential buildings, public buildings, furniture and decor, created by the followers of the so-called "Russian style" in the architecture of the second half of the 19th century.
This style was based on the traditions of folk culture, reviving old techniques and motives of Russian architecture. Country houses, exhibition pavilions, public buildings look like magic towers from Russian folk tales. Admiring them now, we seem to be traveling through fabulous Russia. And at the same time, we will get to know Russia better in the second half of the 19th century, when it was renewed and won, boldly looked into the future and was proud of its national traditions.
Then it was believed that these are exemplary buildings and projects desirable for implementation throughout Russia …
