Hike to the museum. Vrubel, Omsk

Friends, I decided to share with you my impressions of the trip to the Museum. Vrubel to the main exhibition, but from the point of view not of a historian, but of a design engineer.

Earlier I already visited our museum, but at that time I could not share my observations with you, I did not have a magazine yet, but there is something to watch and wonder there. Sometimes the jaw just falls off:)

Our ancestors were great craftsmen, and their products are a real treasure, a work of art of a very complex shape and with high quality workmanship. Personally, while working at a large enterprise that has a number of impressive technologies, I have no idea what the tool of our ancestors should have been like, what is its accuracy ?!

Many exhibits are under glass, so some of the photos have glare and slight distortion, and there were problems with lighting - using a flash is prohibited!

And yes, the photo is practically without processing, so as not to lose possible details.

Let's start.

01. Sculpture "Frederick the Great".

 DSC0009
DSC0009

02. This is biscuit unglazed porcelain. It is a very complex manufacture.

 DSC0008
DSC0008

03. Pupils, wrinkles. Masterpiece!

 DSC0011
DSC0011

04. Fingernails, there are even wrinkles on the hands!

 DSC0012
DSC0012

05. This is a replica of the statue of Artemis. In ancient Greek mythology, the virgin, always young goddess of the hunt, the goddess of fertility, the goddess of female chastity, the patroness of all life on Earth, giving happiness in marriage and assistance during childbirth, and later the goddess of the Moon.

 DSC0013
DSC0013

06. Marble copy!

 DSC0015
DSC0015

07. Feet. I was not particularly impressed with the detail. The figure stands on a flat surface (in my opinion, this remark is important, it will be clear below why).

 DSC0014
DSC0014

08. Nowadays, such a statue can also be made, but only using 5D milling, with cutters like a dentist.

 DSC0016
DSC0016

09. A very beautiful woman with perfect shapes and facial features. There are no pupils.

 DSC0017
DSC0017

10. It is unrealistic to do it manually, considering the specifics of marble.

 DSC0018
DSC0018

Very cool, but still lacking in detail. Although, perhaps, I am not so versed in this matter …

11. A beautiful woman-goddess!

 DSC0019
DSC0019

12. Next comes the original sculpture, not a copy. "Bacchante" - in ancient Greek mythology, the companion and admirer of Dionysus. By the way, he will continue.

 DSC0086
DSC0086

13.

 DSC0084
DSC0084

14. Nude in marble. Here the detailing is a little deeper and better.

 DSC0087
DSC0087

15. See what proportions - as if alive, as if frozen in stone.

 DSC0085
DSC0085

16. The muzzle of the slain beast. See how deeply the eyes are worked, and not only that, the marble in the eye sockets is polished. What for?

 DSC0088
DSC0088

16. The jug, although not hollow, is still quite deeply processed.

 DSC0089
DSC0089

17. The shape of the jug is ideal - a figure of rotation.

 DSC0091
DSC0091

18. The paw of an animal with the outline of a fur.

 DSC0090
DSC0090

19. The model is standing on a flat surface.

20.

 DSC0093

21. Nails and protruding joints …

 DSC0095
DSC0095

22. Here, it seems to me, the size of the cutter is clearly visible.

 DSC0094
DSC0094

23. Compare with the previous sculpture - here the detail is higher.

 DSC0098
DSC0098

24. Compare with your foot:)

 DSC0099
DSC0099

25. Take another look at this beauty.

 DSC0100
DSC0100

Another Bacchante from an unknown sculptor.

26. A very old statue - the marble has already "bloomed". Here the detail is even higher.

 DSC0120
DSC0120

27. The pupils are "drawn", the nostrils are cut deeper, the hair is a little more detailed.

 DSC0122
DSC0122

28.

 DSC0123

29. Estimate the milling depth.

 DSC0125
DSC0125

30. Let's look into her eyes again.

 DSC0126
DSC0126

31. There is a hoof on the skin. It's all made of a whole stone!

 DSC0127
DSC0127

32.

 DSC0128
DSC0128

The next sculpture is Aphrodite with beautiful buttocks.

33. This is a copy. The original is much larger, almost two meters. By the way, this statue has a lot of copies in the world.

 DSC0027
DSC0027

34. And here is the reason for this name:). It is she who dresses after bathing.

 DSC0031
DSC0031

35. The detailing is "usual" (if you can call it that), there is nothing super-dupery.

 DSC0032
DSC0032

35. Strange little holes …

 DSC0034
DSC0034

36.

 DSC0028
DSC0028

37. Beauty!

 DSC0029
DSC0029

38. Goddess.

 DSC0030
DSC0030

Next comes the copy again.

39. This is Hebe, in ancient Greek mythology, the goddess of youth, the daughter of Zeus and Hera, who served on Olympus as the cupbearer of the gods until she was replaced by Ganymede.

 DSC0070
DSC0070

40. The model is standing on a flat surface.

 DSC0069
DSC0069

41. Very beautiful facial features.

 DSC0068
DSC0068

42. In general, everything is normal.

 DSC0068
DSC0068

43. There are pupils.

 DSC0067
DSC0067

44.

 DSC0066
DSC0066

45. Look what a little little finger. The fingers were all straight, they obviously walked barefoot.

 DSC0072
DSC0072

46. The pitcher is not as deeply carved as the previous girl's.

 DSC0073
DSC0073

There is another original made of marble.

47. This is a portrait of Madame Julie Recamier (1777 - 1849). A famous beauty, mistress of the famous literary and political salon, which at that time was the intellectual center of Paris. Her name became a symbol of good taste and education. She was a "star" on a European scale, which was talked about in Russia and England, in Italy and Germany.

 DSC0102
DSC0102

48. The marble "bloomed" a little.

 DSC0103
DSC0103

49. The detail is good. The sculpture was made in the 18th century!

 DSC0107
DSC0107

50. Signature of the author.

 DSC0105
DSC0105

51. There are flowers on the fabric.

 DSC0106
DSC0106

52. Quite delicate work.

 DSC0111
DSC0111

53.

 DSC0112
DSC0112

Next in line is simply a masterpiece with excellent quality and an abundance of small details.

Great copy ?!

54. This is Silenus with Dionysus. There are many options for this statue, but ours is slightly different - Silenus (spirit of nature, demon of fertility) is not standing on a flat surface, but on a slope. I think the slope was needed to represent the relief of the muscles, which means (I guess) the original statue was painted from life.

 DSC0131
DSC0131

55. Dionysus is the God of vegetation, the God of fun, and Silenus is his faithful companion, who was always and everywhere with him.

 DSC0145
DSC0145

56. Strong.

 DSC0132
DSC0132

57.

 DSC0133
DSC0133

58. Pay attention to the emptiness under the berries on the head.

 DSC0135
DSC0135

59. Silenus was not a man, he was a spirit in the form of a man with only horse ears …

 DSC0144
DSC0144

60. … and a small tail.

 DSC0141
DSC0141

61. Pay attention with what activity the fingers are performed.

 DSC0139
DSC0139

62. A very muscular guy!

 DSC0136
DSC0136

63. I have a stupor! How?

 DSC0137
DSC0137

64. It seems to me, or are there veins on the legs? The little finger is very small. I don’t know about you, but it seems strange to me.

 DSC0138
DSC0138

65. The question is, how long should a person stand while such a statue is written off from him? It's 3D! Maybe they had some kind of 3D scanner?

 DSC0140
DSC0140

66. Satisfied muzzle of the killed beast.

 DSC0142
DSC0142

67. This is what the slope is for - all the muscles are visible, the person is in tension.

 DSC0148
DSC0148

68. Marble "bloomed" - an old sculpture, apparently.

 DSC0149
DSC0149

69. Everything is so detailed that you are amazed.

 DSC0150
DSC0150

70. Indeed, there are veins on the leg!

 DSC0151
DSC0151

The sculptures are finished. Now let's move on to the vases - there is also something to see here, we have a real treasure in the museum!

71. This is a porphyry vase. Rock. A solid piece of rock, not casting, but solid machining - I could not find the joining points.

 DSC0062
DSC0062

72. This is exactly a rock, look at the characteristic pattern of the rock. And the edges, the edges are perfectly even, what are the corners, the hemispheres. Personally, I doubt that this can be done now.

 DSC0168
DSC0168

73. And how to make such internal right angles?

 DSC0170
DSC0170

74. And the inner depression is simply space!

 DSC0063
DSC0063

75. I worked at an enterprise as a designer and technologist - I have no idea how to do this. Even with bronze casting under high pressure, such figures and facets cannot be obtained!

 DSC0169
DSC0169

76. Here is also a masterpiece.

 DSC0061
DSC0061

77. A very difficult vase to make.

 DSC0064
DSC0064

78. But this vase is composite, but this does not make it easy to make.

80. Here's another space.

 DSC0056

81.

82. This vase is a pure rotating figure.

 DSC0076
DSC0076

83. Old and battered in places.

 DSC0077
DSC0077

84. But from a single piece - this can be seen from the pattern of the breed. There was something upstairs before, but apparently it broke off.

 DSC0078
DSC0078

85. Another beauty and also a figure of rotation. I wonder if it's hollow inside or not?

 DSC0079
DSC0079

86. From a single piece!

87. Here's another vase, but made of pieces.

In general, it was very interesting, be sure to go to our museum and be sure to look at the details, not missing the little things!

Shl. Currently, such products are performed only on a 5D milling machine with very small milling cutters and computer control. How it was possible to make something like that in the 18th century, I don’t know … But with vases, especially with the first, I don’t understand anything at all!

Something like this!
