Dinosaurs are officially believed to have become extinct about 65 million years ago. That is, long before the appearance of human ancestors. The reason for their extinction was most likely a sharp cooling after a large asteroid 10 km wide fell to Earth. After this cataclysm, all lizards and 75% of mammals became extinct.

Nevertheless, sometimes archaeologists find ancient drawings or sculptures depicting animals that are very similar to dinosaurs. The authors of these drawings depicted them as if they saw these animals in reality. Many researchers are convinced that not all dinosaurs became extinct after the consequences of an asteroid fall.

In thousands of legends and stories around the globe, animals appear that are described as similar to dinosaurs. These are all well-known dragons. Dragons were cult creatures in the mythology of China and Europe, in ancient Russia there was a cult of the Lizard, and in the annals you can find references to some "fierce corcodiles" who attacked people. Even the Australian aborigines made legends about dragons.

Many Slavic household items, from brooches to scoops, were made with the image of lizard dragons. They are often found on Novgorod artifacts.

Several years ago, the news flashed in the media that the archaeologist Otis Cline Jr. in Dawson County, Montana, dug up the horn of a Triceratops (a species of dinosaur) whose age was determined to be 33, 5 thousand years. That is, this dinosaur already lived in the era of humans?

Naturally, controversy immediately arose around the dating of the triceratops horn. Researchers have argued that the dating is wrong. Unfortunately, it is not known how the dispute ended. The media only mentions the fact that the controversial Triceratops horn is now kept in the Glendive Dinosaur and Fossil Museum in Montana.

Better known is the so-called stegosaurus from the Cambodian temple Ta Prum, built in the 13th century and part of the Angkor temple complex. On one of the walls of this temple, you can find images of various animals from ancient myths.

They say that there are even images of a basilisk and a griffin. One of these animals is very similar to a dinosaur with shields on its back - a stegosaurus. And in one more, paleontologists identified a hyracodont (the ancestor of the rhinoceros extinct 20 million years ago).

Strange beast Sirrush from the Babylonian gate of the goddess Ishtar. The Sirrush bas-reliefs are very well-contoured and depict a narrow, scaled body, a long and thin scaly tail, and an equally long and thin scaly neck with a snake head. The mouth is closed, but a long forked tongue protrudes from it.

Sirrush does not look like any of the famous animals. Could he have been a surviving dinosaur?

Another mystery to the researchers was a tapestry from the medieval French castle Chateau de Blois (Blois Castle). It depicts a "dragon" in its natural habitat and is very carefully drawn. And not even one, but with a cub, as if an artist was drawing animals from nature somewhere in the forest.

This Utah Indian petroglyph appears to depict a four-legged herbivorous long-necked dinosaur. According to scientists, it's all about natural spots, but in fact these are two independent petroglyphs.

In addition to the artifacts described, there is even more scandalous evidence of the existence of dinosaurs in the historical era. These are the famous Ica stones, which seem to have long been recognized as a fake, but which still excite the minds of many people, and figures from Acambaro, which Voldemar Julsrud collected all his life.

There it is already difficult to say that these are images of gods or creatures from the fantasies of people, since dinosaurs are depicted in a very recognizable way, almost like in modern encyclopedias.
