The life of Maharishi Roerich - the great Russian educator

Roerich was not only a great artist and thinker. He was also a great man, a humanist in the truest sense of the word. Everyone who was fortunate enough to meet him personally at least once spoke of how unusual, amazing, and memorable for a lifetime impression the outstanding Russian educator made on people.

His entire image radiated spiritual strength, which he generously shared with the people around him. This did not go unnoticed by them, especially in the East, whose wise and discerning inhabitants have long been able to penetrate into the spiritual essence of the person they met. Once, during a meeting with N. K. Roerich, the world famous Indian scientist Jagadish Chandra Bose conducted an interesting experiment on the effect of human auric radiation on the state of plants. In the presence of Roerich, an Indian scientist injected a lethal dose of poison into one of the plants in his laboratory, telling Roerich that the plant should instantly die from this injection. However, there were no visible changes with the plant. Bose gave the plant a second lethal injection, and again this did not affect the state of the flower. Then, glancing at Roerich, the scientist asked him to move a decent distance from the plant and injected the same preparation into the flower again. This time the plant really withered instantly. Bose told Roerich the results of his experiment in the following way: “I thought that in the presence of certain personalities, the effect of poisons could not be fully expressed”. By "some personalities" the Indian researcher meant highly spiritual people, whose aura has a powerful healing effect on everything around them, and above all on living organisms.

According to the testimony of one of the Roerichs' closest collaborators in the USA, Zinaida Fosdik, both Helena Ivanovna and Nikolai Konstantinovich also had pronounced abilities for spiritual healing, that is, healing people by transferring their psychic energy to them. But the Roerichs never advertised these abilities and used them only in special cases, as a rule, to help their closest collaborators.

The extraordinary spiritual potential of the great Russian artist manifested itself in many areas of life. According to eyewitnesses, Roerich knew how, with his spiritual influence, to change even the aura (or psychoenergetic layers) of the space in which he and his colleagues were.

Here is the story of Nikolai Grammatchikov, a member of Roerich's expedition to Central Asia, about an episode that happened on the route of the expedition.

While traveling through the countries of the East, the members of the expedition had to stop at different places, which are far from always good. N. Grammatchikov writes on behalf of a member of the expedition: “We are standing in a place gloomy according to his past. This is an old monastery where there was a double murder and a suicide. The shed blood interrupted the monks' ministry forever …

At night, the attendants are disturbed by some strange sounds that cannot be explained in any way, the smell of a decomposing corpse at the stairs suddenly hits the nose, some shadows appear …

For a long time the sentries do not talk to each other about these phenomena, but then they talk and decide to tell Nicholas Roerich about everything. Two are interested, the third is nervous, and everything that is happening makes him feel creepy.

As always, with a friendly smile, NK listens to the stories of his subordinates; most of all speaks the one who is creepy, the very word "creepy" often breaks from his lips. He is a brave man, he fought for a long time with the hunghuzes in Manchuria, but there is something that cannot be taken with a bullet, and he is uncomfortable.

NK looks at the narrator's face with a long, affectionate glance and says: "Interesting, very interesting, keep watching."

At night, getting up on shift, I firmly decided to bring my observations to the possible accuracy, but … nothing happened in my two hours. There was no other on duty either … And until the very end of our stay in the ancient monastery, no one heard any more sounds around, except for the howling of the wind and the laughter and hooting of owls and eagle owls in the rocks.

On one of the shifts I heard the wonderful scent of violets … and the yard was white with fresh snow."

But, perhaps, most of all, Roerich's unusual spiritual abilities were manifested in his influence on people. As fantastic as it sounds, he brought them good luck! His student A. Haydock wrote about this unusual ability of the artist in his memoirs, referring to the stories of people who met Roerich only once and who knew him well.

Here is what I. Bogdanova, an employee of the Roerich family, told about the great painter (her story was recorded by A. Haydock): “When we lived in Kullu, the surrounding residents showed deep respect and even reverence for N. Roerich. They called him Guru, which, according to Indian concepts, is a spiritual teacher and a saint at the same time. In trouble they came to him for help. Sometimes, in the morning I go out into the courtyard of the estate and see the figure of a peasant from the neighborhood or a mountaineer - standing dejectedly, waiting for the opportunity to see the “Russian Guru”. In the hands of a traditional offering: a bowl of rice, covered with a red flower on top. This is their custom - you cannot come to a saint or a hermit empty-handed. The saint himself does not sow, does not reap … Those who came knew that it was best to turn to Nicholas Roerich through me - I quickly learned their language.

“Tell the Guru that misfortune has befallen me,” says the peasant.

I go to Nikolai Konstantinovich - this way and that, the person asks … Nikolai Konstantinovich comes out, I accompany him as a translator. The visitor bows:

- Help, Guru! Misfortune befell me. I feel bad!

Nikolai Konstantinovich gently strokes him on the shoulder, says in Russian:

- You will be fine. It will be good!

And with a wish for the good, he puts a few rupees into the pocket of the petitioner - they will not interfere with the poor."

To the question of A. Haydock "Has it ever happened that the same petitioner came another time?" Iraida Mikhailovna replied: “Well, they came very often, but not for help, but with gratitude. “Thank you for helping me, Guru! - they said. "Now I live well."

And in Harbin, A. Haydoku talked about Roerich's unusual influence on people, a Russian emigrant, who in a foreign land became a seller of dolls made by his wife. The seller met with Roerich in the most desperate period of his life: it was impossible to find work in a foreign land, there was no money, everything that could be sold from the things brought from Russia was sold, how to live further is unknown. As Haydock wrote, “… and our salesman walks around the bazaar, and despair creeps into the soul. And suddenly he finds out: Roerich has arrived. And also suddenly a decision comes: "I will go to him!" And here he is in Roerich's office. The artist received the visitor cordially and cordially, sat him down in an armchair, inquired about what had brought the visitor to him. The unlucky doll merchant felt an inner need to speak out how hard it was for him to live in a foreign land, and showed his dolls. And while the conversation was going on, the despair that tormented the seller gradually disappeared, and the world entered his soul. Roerich praised the work, but he also said that they (husband and wife) chose a very difficult and thankless way of serving art. The great artist did not buy anything, but the doll seller did not offer his goods. Thanking for the conversation and saying goodbye, he left Roerich's house and walked along Sadovaya. Suddenly they called him:

- What do you sell?

He looked around: at the door of the store was a Japanese man, apparently the owner, who made an inviting gesture. Our art dealer quickly deployed the product. The Japanese immediately bought all the dolls and ordered a large batch for the future. It seemed to the desperate man who had experienced all the coldness of a foreign land that a mighty hand had pulled him out of the gloomy abyss. From that day on, he also believed that Roerich brings happiness to people, about which he told me and my friends with tears in his eyes”(A. Haydock. Teacher of Life).

What was the basis of this amazing property of Roerich - to bring people luck and help, as if changing their fate for the better? Probably, the very Magnet of personality, which is spoken of in Agni Yoga. The essence of this Magnet is high spirituality, love for people and, most importantly, a sincere desire to help them, which, thanks to the artist's extraordinary spiritual potential, materialized into real life events of people who come to him for help and support.

Years pass, but the Magnet of the personality of the great master not only does not fade, but becomes stronger and brighter. This Magnet attracts people from all over the world to the creativity and the very name of Roerich. New generations admire the mysterious and beautiful images of his paintings, join his ideas, read his books - and thus become incomparably richer spiritually. For successful spiritual development, for the expansion of consciousness, as it is called in the teachings of Agni Yoga, more harmonious living conditions come - not being determines consciousness, but consciousness determines being, as the Eastern sages say. In the East, they believe that only great saints are given to bring spiritual help to people, changing their karma for the better. Therefore, in the East, Roerich was called "Maharishi", which means "Great sage, saint."
