Nikolai Koronovsky, professor of the Geological Faculty of Moscow State University, in his book "Earth. Meteorites, Volcanoes, Earthquakes" confirms this version with facts.

From the point of view of geology, Santorini, together with the neighboring islands, forms a semicircular caldera - a cone of a stratovolcano that collapsed as a result of an explosion. According to Koronovsky's estimates, the height of the volcano reached a kilometer. The mountain was formed in the place of collision of tectonic plates, and these are the most earthquake-prone regions in the world.

They tried to explain the danger of the Bermuda Triangle by natural reasons. One of the most popular is the rise of a methane bubble from the bottom, where there are deposits of gas hydrates. According to serious scientists, this hypothesis is unlikely. Although gas hydrates are quite common on the ocean floor and gas release has probably happened in geological history, there is no reason to believe that it happens often in one place. The explanation for the loss of the planes does not hold water.
