Each of us has seen various films or TV series in which people turned to hypnotists for help, urging the patient to look at the pendulum swinging from side to side. Everyone in the soul would like to master the ability to inspire people with a certain thought or action, or to get answers to questions within themselves.
Psychological tricks and gimmicks to take control of the mind of another person, to manipulate it, or to cure mental disorders, are summarized in one big parascientific sphere called hypnotism. What is this phenomenon and what is its meaning?
Hypnotism- a generalized concept that includes any kind of impact on the human psyche. This includes hypnosis itself, and suggestion, and what occultists call magnetism.
If we talk about hypnosis, then the logical definition of this phenomenon will be "a type of altered consciousness in which a person is between the state of wakefulness and sleep." It is known that there are a huge number of schools and techniques of hypnosis, its offshoots, which are aimed at solving various problems. The most famous type is Ericksonian hypnosis. Psychotherapist M. Erickson stated that the motives of actions, the character of a person are directly related to the unconscious. Thus, having entered such a state, a person can get rid of psychological diseases, inferiority complexes, develop certain abilities, and also stimulate creativity. Essentially, Ericksonian hypnosis is a scientific view of this phenomenon.
There is also another attitude towards hypnosis, namely the occult. A similar view of the phenomenon of hypnosis comes from antiquity, when the priests of Ancient Egypt practiced altered consciousness, using various herbs with a psychedelic effect, and Indian shamans communicated with the souls of the dead. When various occult schools began to seep into European society, the so-called animal magnetism, or mesmerism, appeared - the healing practice of various diseases using magnets, which was developed by the German physician Franz Mesmer. He believed that in every person there is a certain magnetic energy ("fluids"), which helps to influence the surrounding objects, including the health of the patient.
Perhaps the most interesting and mysterious type of hypnosis is regression, in which a person observes and lives his past life, and can also supposedly predict the future. There are cases, although not documented, when people who entered a state of deep regression began to speak ancient languages, to talk in detail about events that did not exist in their lives.
Suggestion, self-hypnosis
One of the forms of hypnotism is suggestion. If hypnosis is aimed at clarifying the deep problems of specific people and cognition of one's own "I", then suggestion makes another person act in accordance with the desires of the hypnotist. Now, in the age of goods and services, many companies are resorting to covert suggestion and NLP techniques to boost their product sales. They use in their commercials a certain frame rate, colors that are most receptive to human consciousness. Often such methods are used by politicians who use certain schemes for constructing speech and introducing certain attitudes into it.
The prefix "self" can also be added to all types of hypnotism. That is, a person forces himself to enter a certain state in order to get rid of any prejudices, or, if it concerns self-hypnosis, gives himself certain attitudes to achieve a certain goal, etc.
What is all this for and what can be done with the help of hypnotism? There are many answers. As mentioned above, a person in a state of hypnosis can find in himself the true meaning of his life, overcome fears and worries, and theoretically learn about his past lives and the near future.
If we talk about suggestion, then this form of hypnotism will help you take a certain place in society, win over certain people to your side, make others sympathize with you. Certain techniques also indicate that having a rich imagination and great power of intention, you can influence a person with just one glance.
It is only important to understand how the hypnotist himself relates to this - as to certain psychological tricks, or as to a mysterious and inexplicable force that is hidden in the subconscious of every person. After all, as the hero of Bulgakov said - "everyone will be given according to his faith …".
