Areas with dangerous animals and a dark past, secret government organizations and even sacred buildings closed to the inhabitants - they are scattered around the planet, and not everyone knows about their existence. 1. Keimada Grande Island (Brazil)

The island of Keimada Grande is a stunningly picturesque place in the middle of the ocean, which is located 34 kilometers from the coast of São Paulo. The most beautiful landscapes and climate would make it possible to call it a paradise, if it were possible to be there.

But for many years you can only admire the views of Ilha da Queimada Grande from an excursion boat, because one step to heavenly land can literally cost your life. And all because of the indigenous inhabitants of the island - thousands of snakes. Actually, for the same reason, Keimada Grande received its second name - Serpentine.

On Keymada Grande, almost the entire territory is dotted with tangles of reptiles, most of which are far from harmless. According to Novate.ru, for every 5 sq. m has a snake. The most dangerous reptile species inhabiting the island is the island botrops, or golden spear viper (also spearhead snake). This cute reptile with golden scales is one of the deadliest snakes on the planet.

Mankind did not want to surrender a potential paradise to the reptiles: for several centuries, many people tried to rid the island of vipers, but all the measures taken did not give any result.

Therefore, the authorities decided to grant Keimada Grande the status of a nature reserve and close it for visiting: tourists are brought up to the shore by pleasure boats, but they never land on the territory. The only imprint of civilization on the Serpent Island is a lighthouse built several decades ago, which operates in automatic mode.

2. Poveglia Island (Italy)

Another island that has no visitors is located in the northern part of Italy, between Lido and Venice. For a century, people have not entered the territory of Poveglia. And all because of its notoriety, because this piece of land is considered one of the most dangerous and even mystical places on Earth. For the sake of fairness, it should be noted that the island was not officially closed for visiting, but it is not worth paying a visit there yet.

The reason for the island's gloomy reputation is the plague epidemic that happened in 1777: for the inhabitants of Italy and Venice, it became a terrible tragedy that claimed thousands of lives. The thing is, the infected were isolated precisely in the infirmary on Poveglia Island, as the most distant from the mainland.

According to historians, at least 150 thousand people became victims of the plague there. After that, for almost one and a half hundred years, the hospital building and other structures of the island were in an abandoned state.

The island's infrastructure was refurbished in 1922, and a psychiatric clinic was opened there, further increasing the site's notoriety. According to a popular urban legend, the doctor who worked there was engaged in conducting experiments on patients, most of whom Poveglia never left. And since 1968, the island has again been abandoned.

Of course, those who like to tickle their nerves still make their way there. The situation got off the ground a few years ago, when the Italian government handed over the island for a long-term lease to businessman Luigi Brugnaro, who is going to make a resort out of the former haven of terminally ill people. But what will come of it, time will tell.

3. Lascaux cave (France)

The ramified system of caves, which was discovered during archaeological research in the north-west of France in 1940, is today considered one of the most informative monuments of primitive culture, the analogs of which have not been found before. The main value is the rock paintings that adorn the walls of the cave: according to historians, they were made about 17 thousand years ago, which makes them the most ancient images.

It is interesting to clarify that more than twenty years after the discovery, until 1963, the caves remained open to tourists, in parallel with archaeological research. However, later scientists began to notice numerous damage to the unique designs.

Analyzes showed that the cause was a large amount of carbon dioxide emitted by visitors - it caused a fungus, which, in turn, spoiled the rock paintings. And in order to preserve the oldest monuments of primitive people, the caves were partially closed for visitors.

However, this did not affect the flow of tourists, because everything that is located in the now closed part of Lasko can be seen only 200 meters away. There is an object called Lascaux II (from French Lascaux II), which is an artificial cave, where all the ancient drawings have been recreated with maximum accuracy.

4. North Sentinel Island (India)

North Sentinel Island is located in the Bay of Bengal and is part of the Andaman Archipelago. However, it is simply impossible to get more information about this place, because the way there is closed to researchers. And, what is most striking, people do not manage to even go deep into the island, because they are not allowed to do it … other people.

The thing is that for several millennia a small tribe has been living on the island, called by scientists the Sentinels. Local residents exist in isolation and suppress any attempts to establish contact with the civilized world.

Moreover, the indigenous population of the island is showing aggression towards intruders, so the Indian authorities have imposed a ban on visiting the island. And the only photographs of the island itself and its inhabitants were able to be taken only from boats and not coming close to the coast.

5. Vatican Apostolic Library

According to many criteria, the Vatican can be called a unique state. And among these features one can safely highlight the ability to keep the secrets of their information depths from the majority of the world's population.

So, in the famous Apostolic Library of the Vatican, about 45 thousand books are collected, which hide on their pages the secret archives of the Holy See. Among them, you can find many ancient manuscripts with unique information about the origin of Christian teachings.

In the village of Longyearbyen, there is a secret tunnel that goes 130 meters underground, and it has collected more than 4 million seed samples from almost a million varieties of various crops from all over the world.

The first granaries, or seed storages, of this type were created by the Russian botanist Vavilov in the Leningrad region. After that, this trend was adopted by the Americans, who store special flasks in the building of the Fort Knox Bank. And the Norwegians have already proposed the option of opening the World Grain Storage on Svalbard. The UN approved the idea, and the structure was built in 2006.

For a long time, nothing was known about him, and in the mid-nineties rumors began to spread that Area 51 was studying aliens that could crash on their plates. However, this version was officially denied by representatives of the US Air Force.

It seems strange, but until 2013, the American government generally refused to acknowledge the very existence of Area 51. And after the public press releases of the CIA officers, versions of the purpose of the base were significantly reduced. According to the official version, new stealth aircraft have been tested on the territory of the Zone since 1955. But the level of secrecy is still high: the airspace above the base is closed, access by ground is also limited.

9. Temple of Ise-Jingu (Japan)

Only a certain circle of clergy can enter the territory, and only the emperor, members of his family, and also the high priest have the right to cross the threshold of the two main temples of Nike and Geku. In addition, the most important Shinto relic of the Yata no Kagami, or Sacred Mirror, which is also one of the imperial regalia, is kept in Ise-Jingu.

As it is written in ancient manuscripts, the First Temple of Naiku was built in the IV-III centuries BC. Since then, every twenty years, the structure has been completely destroyed and rebuilt. Compliance with this tradition symbolizes death and rebirth for a new life.

10. Metro 2 (Russian Federation)

The first information about the secret line D 6, which runs below the level of the Moscow Metro, was published as part of a 1991 US Department of Defense report.
