The brain remembers everything that it has passed, smelled, tasted, heard, touched, and so on. The brain is not a sieve. Nothing spills out of it. We, roughly speaking, do not forget anything, just most of the data is in the "Other" folder. Therefore: no need to listen to bad music, no need to read bad books, no need to eat all kinds of shit, no need to drink rubbish, no need to communicate with bad people.

Generally speaking, for creativity it is necessary to remove cognitive control and not be afraid of mistakes. Mistakes are great. And who can tell what a mistake is?

Many creative people say that insights come unexpectedly, during routine actions that have nothing to do with the problem being solved: I watch TV, read a book - and suddenly I have this connection that has not appeared for a long time! The history of science testifies that a discovery cannot be planned, except for technical advances (a computer can also make them), and ideas come to mind when a person is completely unprepared for this.

The discovery cannot be done according to plan. True, there is an essential addition: they come to trained minds. You see, the periodic table was not dreamed of by his cook. He worked on it for a long time, the brain continued to think, and simply "clicked" in a dream. I say this: "The periodic table is terribly tired of this story, and she decided to appear to him in all its glory."

People have wrong attitudes, they think that, for example, the cook is worse than the conductor. This is not so: the ingenious chef will shut down all the conductors, as a gourmet I am telling you. Comparing them is the same as sour and square - the question is incorrectly posed. Everyone is good in their place.

Not thinking "like everyone else", or the problems of creative children

Creative people learn on their own and start doing it very early on. They never consider their unusual ideas, their discoveries to be something extraordinary. This is the most common and obvious thing for them. They often do not understand what, in fact, is their merit, if everything is so obvious. Obviously THEM …

Such people, as a rule, have trouble at school, most of them are smarter than the teachers. They certainly don't know what the teachers know, but they can be smarter. And therefore they find themselves in a very difficult situation, being under the pressure of society.

I had a colleague, a pediatric therapist, he told the following story. One boy - a total poor student at school, sitting at home, being seven years old, invented the steam engine. And he not just invented it, but collected it.

Imagine: a steam engine running on sunflower oil, splashing this very hot oil, rushes around the apartment! At the same time, everyone considers the boy a fool.

Why you need to read

To develop, you need to read complex literature. Linear reading is important - from start to finish.

Hypertext, forcing to click on the highlighted word and, as it were, fall into it, generates discord in thought.

People who have grown up on this type of reading are unable to read a large text in its entirety. They have ragged consciousness - something from here, from there. When you ask a child what this story was about, he cannot retell it to you.

Scientists' predictions about the future of reading are non-optimistic - they predict a serious split between the capabilities of the intellectual elite and the bulk of the world's population.

But if children only engage in comics, they will not develop not only an algorithm for reading complex literature that forms consciousness, but also an algorithm for complex thinking - they will only think about which button to press to bring you a hamburger.

The brain is plastic not only in childhood, as previously thought. It has been proven that it forms new neural connections until the end of life. Any work other than boring and routine work is beneficial for the brain. The main thing is to deal with constantly changing, complex information.

The ability to receive a high-class education can become an elite privilege available only to the "initiate". Let us recall Umberto Eco, who in his novel The Name of the Rose suggested that only those who can, who are ready to perceive complex knowledge, be allowed into the Library. There will be a division into those who will be able to read complex literature, and those who read signs, who in such a clip way grab information from the Internet. It will expand more and more.
