There are different methods of thinking. Each of them works in some cases and does not work in others. However, there are often times when none of the methods of thinking you know work. And then you just can't think.

But there is one method of thinking that always works, without exception. This method is an enumeration method.

What does bust mean? The easiest way to show this is in practice. Start going over all the words you know in your mind. Not even necessarily coherent sentences - just words! One word, another, third … And after the next word, your thinking will suddenly turn on and start thinking coherently, starting from this word. Or from all the words that you managed to sort out.

Why does it work? Because, from a computer science point of view, the brute-force method is the only method that is guaranteed to cover all possible options. For example, when you search for a file on your computer, the search program goes through all the files and compares them against the search criteria. And there is no other way, except for a complete search, it is guaranteed to find them all.

Of course, you can say that this method is slow. And it's really slow - the slowest possible. But this method always works. Its slow speed is an infinite number of times faster than the complete lack of speed in a mental stupor.

And, again, nothing makes you think with this method alone. He, in essence, is needed only in order to "start" your thinking. When it is launched, you have the opportunity to use any other method of thinking.

What's also great about brute force is that it doesn't have to be learned. He is congenital. Psychologists call it the "operant learning method." Even animals have this method. When an animal finds itself in an unfamiliar dangerous situation, it begins to move in a chaotic, random manner, until one of the movements helps it resolve this situation. People also have this method of thinking and behavior from birth. You just need to start using them.

This method is used in other areas as well. So in technology this method is called "the method of (scientific) poke". When using this method, random influences appear on the device under investigation, and as a result, it gradually becomes clear how this device still works and how to get the result you need with it.

The brainstorming method works the same way. It consists in the fact that a group of people offers any, the wildest, unlimited ideas for solving some problem. While there is an assault, any assessment and criticism are prohibited, because they interfere with the generation of ideas. Filtration and evaluation of ideas occurs only later.

But the brainstorming method can be used not only in groups. You can use it alone, individually. Brute-force thinking is just brainstorming alone.

There is also the so-called "freewriting" method - when a person writes down everything that comes to his mind. Obviously, for this method to work - a person needs to start thinking at least some arbitrary words, otherwise there will be nothing to write.

And there is another benefit to brute force thinking. This way of thinking is a kind of physical exercise for the mind. Just as any voluntary physical exercise develops the body, so thinking arbitrary words and their combinations develops the mind.

Therefore, when you can't think, start thinking by brute force. In this case, you will never have a mental stupor and creative crisis. And you can always quickly, without pauses, solve all your problems.

Exercises to stimulate the brain.

1. New environment

Go where you have never been before or where you rarely go. This could be a new large park or a jewelry store in a nearby area.

2. New smells

Buy essential oil bottles or any perfumed items. Every morning, as soon as you wake up, inhale a new smell - this will "wake up" the brain.

3. Closed eyes

In the evening, do not turn on the light in the apartment - walk through the rooms from memory. This exercise will increase your focus and concentration. You can also shower with your eyes closed. Since you cannot see anything, the other senses are sharply activated.

4. Change of working hand

Brush your teeth not with your working hand, but with the one that is less active: if you are right-handed, brush your teeth with your left hand, if you are left-handed - with your right.

5. New wardrobe

Wear different things. Scientists have proven that depending on a person's clothes, not only his feelings change, but also his way of thinking.

6. Braille (a reading and writing system for the blind) and sign language

Braille and sign language are difficult to master, but the ability to read and speak with your fingers will develop your senses tremendously. In sign language, it is enough to learn standard communication phrases: greetings, simple questions, answers.

7. New road

Go to work (to the store) on a new, unfamiliar road. Even if the new path is longer, it's okay. This will not only have a positive effect on the functioning of the brain, but will also help maintain harmony.

8. Self-confidence

Be more confident in yourself. Even if you are offered a job that you are not very good at, accept. The brain quickly activates when you are unsure of what to do.

9. Non-standard answers

Answer standard questions outside the box. Even to the question "how are you?" you can answer dozens of different phrases - give up stereotypes.

10. Coins

Learn to distinguish between coins of different denominations only with your fingers. Exercise is useful when you are waiting for someone or something. Time passes faster and the waiting becomes less tedious.

11. New magazines

Choose those magazines and newspapers that you usually do not pay attention to. For example, if you are into fashion, buy an economics magazine. Do you like reading about travel and other countries? Give preference to an animal magazine. It is not necessary to get carried away with something new; it is enough to change the subject of what you are reading from time to time.

12. TV without sound

Turn off the sound on the TV and, while looking at the picture, try to reproduce the dialogue or monologue. If you do this exercise with friends, it will turn out to be very comical and interesting.

13. Varied recreation

If you usually spend your weekends in the city, then go to nature next time. Don't like listening to music? Go to a music concert - you will get a lot of new sensations. Even if you don't like it at all, you can leave.

14. New pace

This exercise can be done on a day off. If you usually do everything slowly, try to speed up the pace by 2 times. If you can't sit still for a minute, force yourself to do everything slowly. It takes a lot of concentration.

15. Jokes

Coming up with new jokes and anecdotes is very entertaining and beneficial for the brain. This not only stimulates mental alertness, but also develops the ability to think creatively.

16. Observation

Try to practice observation as often as possible.

For example, every day I try to notice all the little things of people passing by me. Toe rings, boots soiled, clothing colors, scars, pet hairs, fingernails / face grooming, etc.

When traveling on public transport, I especially like to predict the stop at which a person will get off.

Also, try not only to observe, but also to remember everything that you saw. I do it this way - glance at the person for 3-5 seconds, turn away and try to remember everything (hair length, color, how long the collar was, what he did, which hand was holding the phone, relaxation / tension, accessories).

You can think of memory and observation as a muscle. You can hammer on it and over time it will atrophy, or you can strain it every day, and it will increase in size and become stronger.
