Hello dear Seekers! I organized a major fundraiser for the transfer of the 1459 card of Fra Mauro.

Here is the link where you can go and support the project: SUPPORT THE PROJECT

Approximately 10 years after the digitization of not only old Western European sources, but also old maps, neither the Russian Academy of Sciences, nor the Russian Historical Society or any other society has carried out a proper professional translation into Russian, with the publication of special literature containing translations … But practically all ancient sources contain completely different, different from the official information about the lands of present-day Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and the CIS countries. It is foolish to believe that such a mistake was made through an oversight or unknowingly, ALL digitized manuscripts, books, manuscripts and maps were ignored. In this regard, I intend to translate a huge unique map of 1459 by the Venetian monk Fra Mauro, which, in particular, shows that Siberia and the entire northeast of modern Russia, which is called Scythia, are very densely populated and have countless cities that in size it is much more magnificent and richer than the European ones. The original is kept in Venice, a digital copy was made, but its quality leaves much to be desired - small inscriptions are either very poorly readable or not visible at all.

I intend to acquire 2 books. One contains 48 enlarged fragments of a map with a resolution of 800 dpi each, digitized and put on the Internet for free access, and as a result, make the highest digital resolution of this map that exists today. This book was published in 1956 in Rome, the map was scanned on professional equipment at the Rome Institute of Printing, and at the moment this book is a real antique - its average cost is 3000 euros.

The second book, which I need for work, contains the full text from this map (about 3000 small and large inscriptions, a huge amount of explanations and large texts in Italian), translation into English, and a detailed description of each fragment. I will replace the Italian text on the map itself with Russian for better orientation. I also want to make a printed edition of fragments with translations in the form of an album of 1000 copies, as well as large posters with a whole map in order to hang on the wall and study in detail.

I have already made the world's first translation of the maps of Daniel Cellarius Ferrimontanus in 1590, Gerardus Mercator in 1569 and 1592, as well as the Catalan map of 1375 into Russian. You can view them at these links:

My goal is that every person, be it an ordinary schoolboy or a nuclear physicist, could equally freely access the real history and draw the appropriate conclusions themselves. The people who know their roots cannot be defeated.

Also, this unique card will be available for universities and schools for detailed study, everyone can hang it on the wall at home. Nowadays, a reproduction of a map costs about 900 euros, and its maximum resolution in digital form is only 5000 by 5000. The fragments that are available on the Internet are not enough to make a large map.

The era of knowledge accessibility has come, and it would be foolish to hide it under the name of "copyright". Now everyone can touch the antiquity without having any special education.
