St. Petersburg, July 30 (Alexandra Buder). Residents of the Primorsky District, who oppose the construction of a church in the park on Dolgoozernaya Street, decided to send a request to the St. Petersburg administration and find out the legality of the work being done on the territory. The organizers of the action informed the "BaltInfo" correspondent about this.

More than 500 people came to the "people's gathering", and most of them opposed the construction of the temple, the rest - for, including representatives of the Orthodox Church.

The deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Maxim Reznik, who also arrived at the "people's gathering", talked with Father Alexander. After the conversation between the deputy and the representative of the church, those present decided to continue negotiating and in the near future to organize a round table on this topic.

“We are not against the temple, we are against its construction in the park right in front of the residential buildings. It is planned that the height of the building will be 50 meters and it will be designed for a thousand people. It would be much more convenient to erect a temple at the intersection of Korolev and Dolgoozernaya streets, there is a wasteland,”the activists emphasize.

At the moment, a section of the park is surrounded by a blue fence, construction materials are brought to the site by cars.

Let us remind you that on Planernaya Street, near house 41/2, a "people's gathering" took place in defense of the park located on Dolgoozernaya Street. According to residents of the Primorsky District, in mid-July, a fence appeared in the park, enclosing the construction site of an Orthodox church, access to the park was closed, and the trees that were on the construction site were destroyed.

Currently, the block bounded by Aviakonstruktorov Avenue, Dolgoozernaya and Planernaya streets, in accordance with the law "On the rules of land use and development of St. Petersburg", belongs to the recreational zone. However, within the boundaries of the territory, by a resolution of the city government, a permit was issued for a conditionally permitted type of use "for religious objects" of a site with an area of 1, 3 hectares.

Local residents argue that the area of the allocated site for conditionally permitted use within the boundaries of the zone in the current situation cannot exceed 0.5% of the territory. In other words, it should be only 0.02 hectares, not 1.3 hectares.
