I remember myself as a schoolboy: a more important topic than the Second World War did not exist in the social life of the Soviet people. Everything was dedicated to her: fine arts, cinema, fiction and poetry, amateur performances, military parades.

Of course, neither children nor adults then (and many still) did not think: why such a bias in the minds of people? Yes, the hardest war, yes, suffering and millions of victims. But after all, life goes on, you need to think about the future, why stir up these unhealed wounds in the souls of people? In order not to repeat fascism? But what then to call the events in Czechoslovakia, our campaign in Afghanistan and whom did we kill in Chechnya (and now in Syria)? Fighting terrorists? Or maybe we just did not allow other peoples to live on their own land the way they want?

So, the words forever engraved in childhood memory: he went through the entire war from Moscow to Berlin (and some of them even without a single wound). Or: passed the Civil and the Second World War, passed the Finnish and the Second World War. I'm not even talking about Spain โ€ฆ And only now, after dozens of years, I started thinking about the meaning of this phrase: aren't there too many lucky ones for such a bloody war?

From the beginning of the war (from Moscow) to Victory, only the generals, military personnel of the rear units (those who did not participate in military operations) and staff could survive. On the front line, a private, detached and company commander was released no more than 3 months. This is the maximum, how long a respite at the front could last, due to severe weather conditions or in preparation for a large-scale offensive. The battalion commander and the regiment commander could live longer, as luck would have it. Of the divisional commanders, only a few were killed.

For ordinary soldiers and junior command staff, the war was a terrible meat grinder, a conveyor belt of death, where every day the place of the fallen was taken by replenishment. And they could not get from Moscow to Berlin in principle. No one! Only cripples were lucky to survive. Which, of course, we will not see at the festive stands on May 9th.

Conclusions:

Among the war veterans, there are practically no real (those who fought on the front line) front-line soldiers. They all died. Except for cripples, of course. Soldiers entered Berlin who did not smell gunpowder. I am already silent about those who allegedly went through 3 (2) wars. There were no such among the rank and file and junior command staff.

This is to be objective and believe the history of the Second World War.
