Baalbek is a city in Lebanon where the largest bricks in the world (known to me) are actually used in construction. Weight about 1000 tons … The most famous of them is the South Stone. Everyone loves to be photographed on and around him.

An amusement park in Switzerland even made a visual illustration, where about 20 reduced copies of modern cranes were placed around a reduced copy of this stone, which together could somehow lift this megalith.

Less well known is the second unfinished brick from the Baalbek quarry, from which someone later chopped off several small blocks:

These bricks are cut down, transferred over a kilometer distance and tightly inserted into the walls of the megalithic structure, so that it is not possible to stick a needle between adjacent bricks:

All these megaliths of Baalbek have been known to the world for more or less the last 150 years since the appearance of photography in the middle of the 19th century.

But, in the summer of 2014, a breakthrough occurred, which is still little known even to those who are interested in these issues. Which prompted me to take up the pen.

German and Lebanese archaeologists finally decided to look under the South Stone, began to dig and dug at least 2 more bricks even larger, weighing up to 2000 tons:

And this is not the most interesting thing. It turned out that the famous South Stone was most likely cut off from the bottom of the rock by a horizontal cut. The cut line was exposed when the soil layer was removed under the stone:

Maybe, of course, this is just a line only around the megalith, but not through, no one has yet checked whether it is through. To check, you need to raise this brick with a jack from one end, which is quite realistic. There are jacks for hundreds of tons. But, most likely, the line is through. On August 15, 2015, at the LAI forum, I met a newcomer to the forum, Anastasia, who had just returned from there and confirmed my hypothesis that the South stone is not a parallelepiped, but a truncated prism with a rectangular base. Its sides are not parallel. One edge Already about a quarter of the other. Andrei Sklyarov categorically rejected this. Please note that the ends of this megalith differ in size by more than a meter or 25%!

Andrey Sklyarov categorically refused to accept this fact, accusing Anastasia of negligence and me of blabbing the topic. But, after all, the same measurement result was indicated half a year earlier by Svetel

For some reason, Sklyarov was not outraged by Svetel's "negligence", although she had the same measurement results. And I just began to be rude in public, as if I was engaged in flooding. Obviously Sklyarov is insane. It is not sensibly possible to explain different reactions to the same event.

The famous researcher Nikolai Nepomniachtchi in his book 100 GREAT PUZZLES OF HISTORY writes the same thing:

… there lies the largest processed stone in the world. Its ancient name is "Gayar el-Kibli", which means "Stone of the South". In size, it surpasses even the "trilithons": its length is 21, 72 m, the section of the southern end 4.25 x 4.35 m, and the north end 5, 35 x 5, 35 m.

In two topics of the forum, instead of thanking Sklyarov, he criticized Anastasia in every possible way for the wrong, in his opinion, measurement result and for the inability to draw. But, how can you be mistaken by 1 meter out of 4, and, at the same time, her result coincided with the results of Svetel and from the book of Nepomniachtchi? Sklyarov promised to provide measurements made by his group, but did not promise to fulfill the promised promise. 4 days we waited for his answer but did not wait and the topic was closed. It seems that they did not measure the lower end of the megalith at all, but only assumed that it was the same as the upper one.

For the first time I came across the fact that Sklyarov is not capable of admitting even his own mathematical mistakes. Instead, he began to humiliate Anastasia in every possible way. Either she does not know how to draw, then she is mistaken by a meter out of 4. Although she draws professionally, in this case it was only a sketch.
