Recently, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on "counteracting the propaganda of third parties" calling it the main information threat, the Russian agencies Sputnik, RT, Russkiy Mir and Rossotrudnichestvo.

The hysteria in front of the growth of Russian media giants is so high today, and they are afraid of their activities to such a level that it is worth investigating the reasons for this.

The self-destructiveness of the current decision of the European Parliament, as part of the general complex of anti-Russian measures by the outgoing administration, is visible to the naked eye, and the Russian president commented on it most succinctly today:

“At the moment [after the release of the resolution] we are witnessing an even more obvious degradation of ideas about democracy in Western society. Those who are still trying to teach democracy to the rest of the world cannot simultaneously use a dictatorial prohibitionist [prohibit alternative point of view and destroy media pluralism].”

The scandalousness of the text of the resolution, the disagreement of many parliamentarians ultimately resulted in a large number of opponents of this draft at the vote, as well as in serious criticism from a number of MEPs. So, Yana Toom calls it absolute stupidity to put Russia and ISIS (banned in the Russian Federation) separated by commas in one official document:

"This is absolute stupidity. It is completely unacceptable even for colleagues who, in principle, share the positions of the authors of this document, to draw such ridiculous parallels."

At the same time, if you ask the question of who was the author of this "ridiculous" resolution, everything will quickly fall into its usual place, since it was, as usual in such situations, "fraternal" Poland. MEP from Poland Anna Fotyga, the initiator of the text "on information countermeasures to the Russian media", did not hide at all that she was guided by personal motives when creating this project.

And it all looks like a personal hysteria. The document is of a recommendatory nature and resembles "screeching in impotent rage" to which, moreover, contrary to the expectations of many opponents of our country abroad, Russia responded exclusively with Western and peaceful instruments. These agencies have already appealed to international organizations such as the UN, UNESCO, OSCE and Reporters Without Borders, demanding that they take steps to do their job and stop these restrictions on democratic media freedom in the EU.

REASONS OF FEAR OF THE RUSSIAN "RT"

The first reason for the increasing panic in the Western establishment in response to the work of "Russia Today" is its strategic positioning. So, on the official RT page on Wikipedia there is a wonderful and ironic paragraph in the channel description that covers this issue in an accessible way:

At the awards ceremony of the Russian Geographical Society, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a mini-exam for young experts in geography.

FIRST MESSAGE: "MY NATIVE COUNTRY IS WIDE!"

I would like to draw the readers' attention to how much attention Putin pays to children. With enviable regularity, he takes part in a variety of activities where he communicates with children.

So at this event, Putin met with two very young citizens of our country and even held a small impromptu exam with them, which ended with a very successful joke, which at the same time was not a joke at all, but a very specific message to a wide range of addressees.

And the first, most important addressee that Putin turned to, of course, were our children, our younger generation. With the phrase that “Russia's borders do not end anywhere”, Putin first of all wanted to show all the children of our country the greatness and power of their Motherland, the endless expanses of which make every citizen treat it with great love and respect. It is really very important for children to feel that they live in a Great country, think about its scale and realize their responsibility, their duty to it for life - to protect and take care of its present and future.

As our President once said, “our country can only be Great or none at all”. If Russia is not a Great Power, it will be destroyed. There are too many people interested in our lands and resources. And all our people for these people is just an annoying obstacle on the way to the development of "their land" and "their resources."

SECOND MESSAGE: “WE NEED ANOTHER SCHOOL. ERUDITION IS GOOD, BUT THE MAIN THING IS TO SEE THE ESSENCE OF THINGS."

Putin's second message is also addressed to children. Talking to the young winners of the geographical competition, Putin showed them that erudition is good, but it is powerless to help them see the essence of things. What is needed here is not erudition, but the ability to think outside the box and unconventional, the ability to feel, the ability to link knowledge from different fields and different sciences.

Indeed, what's the point in information about the contours of states, about their borders, capitals and other reference data, if at the same time you do not understand what a state is in general, how states interact with each other, how they depend on each other, how processes in some states influence processes in other states?

With just one phrase, Putin gave the guys the opportunity to feel that all these colorful shows on the topic of erudition do not give anything in terms of real understanding of things, they replace this true knowledge with various meaningless tinsel.

There is no geography without politics, without legal relations, without economic ties. Everything is interconnected, interdependent and interacting. Studying various disciplines in isolation from each other means getting dead knowledge that has no application in real life.

THE THIRD MESSAGE: "CRIMEA IS ONLY THE BEGINNING!"

This message is already to all citizens of our country, as well as to the whole world. And the message is clear and unambiguous: we will rebuild our world. Our country does not end at our current borders. We remember everything, and we will return what was taken from us. And we will return not only what was taken away from us in 1991, but also what was taken away earlier. Our borders don't end anywhere.

By the way, we were not paid for Alaska either.

Yes, again, Putin said: “Whoever does not regret the collapse of the USSR has no heart. And who wants to restore the USSR - he has no head. The USSR is a turned page of history, but history must be known and honored. And today it is necessary to create a new union of peoples and countries around Russia and the Russian people. It is necessary to remember that we are all one people and one country, and we do not and cannot have real borders with each other.

We had a terrible experience. Who did not realize, in the 90s Russia (the former USSR) suffered economic damage and lost its population significantly more than during the Great Patriotic War. The activities of Gorbachev, Yakovlev, Yeltsin, Gaidar, Chubais and others cost the country much more in every sense than the treacherous attack of Hitler's Germany.

It was all there. It is necessary to recognize the events that have taken place, take into account and start integration based on the experience gained.

FOURTH MESSAGE: "RUSSIA IS NOT JUST A COUNTRY, IT IS A CIVILIZATION WITH ITS CONCEPT OF GLOBALIZATION"

This message is addressed not only to our citizens and other countries, but also to global governance. Russia's borders do not end anywhere, which means that Russia's interests extend to the whole world.

Russia has something to offer the world - this is an alternative development project. And for Russia there are no foreign countries and peoples on this Earth. Russia sees the problem of any people as its own problem and is ready to come to the aid of everyone (but of course, on the basis of reasonable cooperation, and not using Russia's interests in other people's selfish interests).

And on the other hand, no matter what and where in the world happens, this also applies to the interests of Russia. And Russia will defend its interests, be it in Ukraine, Syria or any other part of the world. Russia will no longer turn a blind eye to what is happening in the world and pretend that certain events do not concern it.

This phrase of Putin about borders looks especially deep in contrast to Yeltsin's slogan: "Take as much sovereignty as you can!"

There is a time to throw stones, and there is a time to collect stones. And in every joke there is only a fraction of a joke, and the rest is true.
