For millions of years they lay underground and on Earth. The onset of their finest hour meant one thing for someone: the last hour had struck. Through a series of centuries, these stones carry to the descendants the epic of their ancestors - an epic that has practically not been studied.

Which is very similar to the biblical SELMON, and even more - to MOUNTAIN ELMONOV from the Ostrog Bible. And nearby there is a village called Laroque-d'Olmes. But la roche (la roque?) This speech is the first example of this kind of speech in the Bible (Judges 9).

Many are aware of the parables that Jesus spoke to the people and very few know about the parables that speak to the people in the Old Testament. They are somehow lost against the background of the former, although they are no less instructive than the New Testament ones, and are just as deep.

For the first time, the youngest son of the sixth Old Testament judge Gideon, Jotham, spoke to the people in a parable. He spoke at a time when people did not live according to the law, but according to concepts (and we live according to the laws?). Listen to the parable of my ancestor, reader, listen to the voice of the Cathars from the 15th century.

“The trees once went to anoint a king over them, and said to the olive tree: Reign over us. And the conversation with the people of the parables was preceded by a rather unsightly story, by which the Book of Judges, more than any other of the books of the Old Testament, is full of cruelty and murder, because everyone did what he thought was fair.

Gideon, having defeated the enemies of the people of Israel, went home. The Israelites asked him to become a king over them, but he lived like an eastern ruler: he had everything - many wives, from whom he had seventy sons, wealth, respect ….

And why should he take on such a burden - to reign over the people. He will simply live for his pleasure among numerous wives and children, without denying himself anything. He does not strive for power. And the people wanted a ruler.

And Gideon had one son, who did not come from the house of his father - Gideon, but from the house of his mother - a slave woman from the pagan Canaanite (Canaanites is one of the names of the Slavs) of the tribe living in the city of Shechem (Monsegur). By the then concepts - a black sheep.

And this son named Abimelech came to Shechem with the words that he is their brother, since his mother comes from their generation, and asks to make him king over himself, and to kill all the children of Gideon who are not the same blood with them. And the people agree to this.

Gives him money from his pagan temple so that he can hire assassins to exterminate the remaining seventy sons. And Abimelech does just that: he hires assassins who kill all his brothers. Except for one - Jotham. Poor Jotham, seeing the terrible massacre, managed to run away and hide. Abimelech returns to Shechem with a victory and the people solemnly deliver him to the kingdom.

When Jotham learns that the people of Shechem anointed Abimelech over them as king, he comes to the sacred Mount Gerizim, from which Moses once spoke about two ways of life. He wants revenge for his innocently murdered brothers, thirsts for justice and begins to shout loudly to be heard. He tells the very parable of the trees to warn the people about their responsibility for their choice.

The parable of the trees is a wonderful one and the main idea in it is that only those who do not represent anything of themselves strive for power - thorns. The thorns that the earth began to produce after the fall. They are only suitable for stoking the stove with them, because they burn well.

Whom did de Montfort kill with particular cruelty? We have heard that he executed 100 Qatar with particular cruelty (in another case, 70). Born from a servant (there was never slavery in Russia), the bastard could not claim the legacy of his father Gideon. And then he decided to destroy all competitors by force.
