In the experimental animal, he implanted the rudiment of such a tooth into the empty alveolus. The porous structure of the framework allowed the stem cells of the animal's body to migrate into this structure.
On average, after 9 weeks, the subjects developed teeth that perfectly engrafted with the restoration of the periodontal ligaments.
According to Mao's technique, a framework made of caprolactone and hydroxyapatite, which are biocompatible polymers, will be implanted into the patient's jaw.
This framework is obtained by the method of three-dimensional printing, its design provides for an abundance of tubules with a diameter of 200 μm, filled with specific substances that stimulate cell growth (stromal-derived factor-1, SDF1) and morphogenic bone protein (bone morphogenetic protein-7, BMP7)
These factors force the patient's own stem cells to produce tooth tissue, and in a strictly indicated direction, forming a full-fledged tooth of the correct shape. The result is an almost naturally grown tooth.
