The head of Rosenergoatom spoke about the project cost and construction time.
The cost of the first Russian floating nuclear power plant has become known. The head of the separate directorate of the floating nuclear thermal power plant under construction of the Rosenergoatom concern Sergey Zavyalov shared the latest information and the cost of the first such power unit.
According to him, the Akademik Lomonosov floating nuclear power plant, which will operate in Pevek (Chukotka), will cost about 30 billion rubles. The completion of the construction of the floating nuclear power plant is scheduled for 2017. A year ago, it was believed that the implementation of this project would cost about 40 billion rubles, but in the end everything turned out to be cheaper. Rosenergoatom set itself the task of making the floating nuclear power plant as cheap as possible, which they did.
According to Zavyalov, the floating power unit itself will cost almost 22 billion, and a little more than 7 billion will be spent on the construction of onshore facilities. For a region like Chukotka, coastal structures must be strengthened due to the pressure of ice and strong winds, which significantly increases their cost.
For comparison, the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant in Turkey, which is being built by Russia, is estimated at $ 20 billion. True, this nuclear power plant has four power units.
Commissioning of the first Russian floating nuclear power plant is scheduled for autumn 2019. When the floating nuclear power plant passes all the tests, it will be delivered to Chukotka and connected to the coastal infrastructure.
