As you know, the German propaganda machine during the existence of the Third Reich convinced the Aryans of their superiority over other races. The Nazis really believed in their theory and sought to conquer a new living space by enslaving other peoples and forcing them to serve themselves.
The Nazis saw the future of their own race in the genetic improvement of descendants. For such "good" purposes, a secret program was developed called Lebensborn, which translates as "the source of life."
Initially, the program consisted in the selection of racially pure German women who were to become pregnant by SS officers. It was assumed that as a result of such alliances will be born superchildren, which in the future will lead Germany to world domination.
The most famous result of such an experiment was Anni-Fried Lingstad, the lead singer of the legendary group ABBA. However, very soon the Germans desired more, the concept of the project changed and became terrifying.
The women selected for this program were housed in special incubators, which created ideal conditions for the growth and development of fetuses. One of the first such establishments was a boarding house near Munich, opened in 1936. After the capture of Europe, the Nazis put on stream a project to produce superchildren abroad.
The largest scale of the program has reached in Norway. The Germans considered the local blue-eyed blondes to be Aryans, the ideal genetic material. For Norwegians, the prospect of going to bed under the Germans was the only way to live peacefully in wartime, even though these women became walking incubators for superchildren, who were then taken away from them.
Over the years of the Lebensborn project, about 8 thousand purebred Aryans were born in Germany, and about 12 thousand in Norway.
In 1938, on the eve of the war, the Germans decided to accelerate the pace of production. They began accepting pregnant women who, in their opinion, were eligible for the program. Women were given financial rewards for having children. It turns out that the Nazis just bought them.
The children were fed according to a specially developed program and were kept in closed boarding schools.
After the capture of Eastern Europe, the Germans began to kidnap children who looked like true Aryans. In Germany, children underwent a final examination, doctors sorted them depending on the level of similarity with the standard.
Children who were deemed unfit were sent to concentration camps. The "lucky ones" were subjected to an express course on Germanization. They were instilled with the "correct" values, psychologists worked with them, forcing them to forget their home.
If the children showed the "wrong" hair color, they were irradiated with ultraviolet light. The children processed in this way were given to be raised in SS families.
When the Nazis realized the inevitability of the collapse of their empire, they began to massively destroy all possible documents. As a result, no materials for the Lebensborn project could be found.
There is still no exact data on the number of children who participated in this secret program. Historians say the figure is 200 thousand people.
After the surrender of Germany, the Norwegians found themselves in an unenviable position. The authorities turned a blind eye to the abuse of women by local residents. The SS children became outcasts. However, neighboring Sweden has shown goodwill by hosting several hundred rejected children.
Thus, Anni-Fried Lingstad became a Swede, whose father, an SS sergeant, died in the war.
History keeps many nightmarish pages, after reading which one is horrified by human cruelty. Undoubtedly, the crimes of the Nazi regime are some of the most atrocious atrocities committed by people.
However, the Germans also made many scientific breakthroughs. These breakthroughs alone cost millions of lives. You can wonder if it was worth it? The issue of humanity has always prevented scientists from conducting crazy experiments. However, they are carried out to this day, only you and I do not know about them.
